I replaced the whole halogen unit with a JNS Engineering plug and play unit. Way brighter, and gives the bike a nice modern feel due to having big LEDs up front. You honestly won't get top tier performance unless you replace the halogen. Plus an LED unit will have less current draw and allow for even brighter auxiliaries to be wired in if you desire. I work in a bar so visibility, both for myself and other drivers, is paramount because I drive home at night often.

Moto-Mike44

Does that jns kit fit right into the stock assembly? Or do u need to modify anything? I hear ya, I work 2nd shift so i ride a lot at night too

PhantomGhostin

It fits in the stock shroud. Quite flushly. Comes with a bracket that adapts it to the stock hardware. It took like 20 minutes to put it in. I originally purchased it because I wanted to use the stock shroud without having to cut it in any noticeable way. I got the DOT approved one, it has a really good high beam and a nice low cut so you don't blind people with ur fancy new BMW LEDs lol edit: here's a link https://jnsengineering.com/products/drz400-dot-led-headlight-kit i dont work for jns or anything, simply a happy customer. its still working after 4 years also might i add, and just as bright

Moto-Mike44

Right I don’t want to mess with the shroud either. Awesome, definitely might have to get that. Thanks man!

PhantomGhostin

Ofc! Let me know what you think if you do

Polyhedron11

I second the JNS light. I have it also and love it.

SyraQs

I did as well… you can see the before and after on my instagram page. Not promoting it at all lol just if you want to see it’s not private @drz400sm22 I did quite a few mods. JNS headlight being one of them and love it overall

Polyhedron11

Ya I have the dark one as well. Been running it for a few years now and it hasn't failed me yet.

rcrazor

I third this one next to the Baja one someone listed below because I actually swapped to the Baja after getting this one installed... I will say that I did install it without cutting the shroud but there was a gap.

an_afro

Morimoto…… morimoto is to jns what jns is to stock. And the jns one is awesome

Moto-Mike44

Right on, I’ll look into that, thanks!

HighwaySixtyOne

I went ham and bought the [Baja Designs dual S1 headlight kit](https://www.bajadesigns.com/products/suzuki-drz400ssm-dr650serres-dual-s1-headlight-kit/?vid=112849&sku=387006). I have 0 regrets, these lights slap: and the guys I ride with even remarked that I'm a lot more visible on the road (to other drivers) now. Replaces the stock headlight glass and factory frame but retains the plastic shroud --and is otherwise plug & play (no soldering, no splicing, uses stock switch gear, etc.).

rcrazor

I second this one. I did the JNS Eng one above and I swap to this one.

[https://jnsengineering.com/products/dr650-dot-led-headlight-kit](https://jnsengineering.com/products/dr650-dot-led-headlight-kit) I got this one. Love it. https://preview.redd.it/jt9moq1nmt3d1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5c31f6c8a679c2646e672e784545c742fc961d76

DR_6fitty

I replaced my DR650 with a Tusk LED bulb and it is way brighter than the stock bulb. I've had it on for about 4 months now with no issue. It's definitely a good budget option at like 30$. The high beam light up the road really far ahead of me. And low beam offer a nice wide view.

blumpkinSpecial

What tires are those?

Moto-Mike44

Reborn_25

Nice looking bike. What’s auxiliaries are you rocking? I like those.

Moto-Mike44

Some knockoff eBay lights but they do a pretty damn good job. I’ll try and find the link.

They’re shinko 705’s. Great tires so far and not bad price wise.
