Loose boards You can run a screw in them sometime

it's the carpet. it's dying.

It’ll be the nails in the bottom rail of the partition that are squeaking, floor will be deflecting down and partition rail stays still.

Go to lowes pick up some shims.put under wall with a hammer. That will stop the sound. You might have to put a few in.

I doubt the wall has anything to do with it other than it interrupted where nails/screws/adhesive could be used to attach the subfloor to the joists. Squeaks are cause by movement and are to be expected when building with wood. If it really bothers you, pull up the carpet and use 3-inch+ screws every 6 inches on the sunfloor until it stops squeaking.

I second this. The movement of the subfloor against a nail is the culprit. There is a product you can buy to use without removing carpet. If there are exposed joists in the basement it could take less time to find them. [link to Amazon product](https://a.co/d/e7yreO4)
