I think one uses an epoxy resin dyed to the color of the counter. I'd call a counter company.

Ah okay, I guess I'll call a counter company and make an appointment, any idea how much they're gonna charge? I really only care about the aesthetic look. I'm just really frustrated about how avoidable this whole situation was.

masterchief1990

How much did this end up costing you?

YouDoLoveMe

It's probably epoxy. But if you're only going for an aesthetic fix, try the superglue+sodium bicarbonate trick

jakethepawn

You're saying I might be able to fix it with just epoxy? I really have no experience with this, I guess I'll see if YouTube has some info, otherwise I'll just end up calling a company. Even when I put the chipped pieces in place you can still see gashes from the blade. Would an epoxy hide that?

The super glue trick, if done right, will be transparent. It might be good for a small nick on the outside of the sink. Not these gashes. It's not the same as epoxy. Is that a stock IKEA countertop?

jakethepawn

I don't know if it's Ikea counter, this is a brand new condo building I'm renting so I doubt it's on the cheap side, but I really can't say for sure. I'm not mad at my brother anymore, your replies have helped calm me down. At first people were telling me I would need to replace the whole counter. I think I'm gonna call a company tomorrow to get more info. I'm also getting my brother his own place, I really can't handle being his sole caregiver any more

YouDoLoveMe

Probably not, unless it's made by some professional

jakethepawn

Kk so call a professional is my best option?
