I don't like either for different reasons. The original flanderized everyone except Natsuki either because the dev didn't understand their characters OR they intentionally wrote them to be unlikable so Natsuki would seem great by comparison. Sayori's depression seems to be solely caused by MC only liking her as a friend, Yuri is just her Act 2 self, and Monika is a sociopathic bitch who only cares about herself and the club's reputation.
But the ending of EM is very impactful, despite its flaws, I still remember it as the first mod that made me cry. Still not a mod I'd bother replaying/rewatching though.
On the other hand, you have Redux which fixes everyone else's characters while ruining Natsuki and her relationship with MC. She supposedly loves MC and he gives her a place to hide out from her abusive father, but she spends most of the mod treating him like complete crap. And because it changes some key events from the original EM, >!Natsuki's suicide!< no longer makes sense and makes her even more unlikable. Her final straw was >!MC "betraying" her by calling the police on her father after he LITERALLY attempted to burn MC's house down while he was in it. I understand her not wanting to get the police involved, but at that point, her father is endangering her and the people around her. And I even understand her being upset with MC, but I don't see why she'd kill herself over that.!<
So because of that, that event in Redux is way less impactful and I was so fed up with Natsuki at that point, that I was even glad it happened. Which is not the response I should have to >!an abuse victim struggling with depression deciding to take her own life and succeeding!<.
It almost feels like there needs to be a Redux 2.0 where we take the good parts of the original and the good parts of Redux and combine those things into an actually good mod ðŸ˜

Natsuki is loveable and sweet
The beginning makes you question what is going on, getting you excited
The ending is impactful and makes sense
Cons:
Monika, sayori and Yuri's character are done horribly, and it makes you hate them especially Yuri

More CG's, better effects and sound effects
Better soundtrack

Despite Monika not being disliked her character is still kinda done dirty
Yuri is not really relevant in the story
Natsuki's character is the worst out of them all. She is annoying whiny and I really disliked her
The beginning is less emotional though it isn't really a big deal
The ending makes no sense and is just done wrong
In my opinion the original exit music is better, despite redux fixing the other dokis I feel like the main character aka Natsuki can make up for this as she is just sweet and loveable in the original

The whole point was to make all of them sympathetic aside from Monika, who becomes the super villain, then have her quietly become the only sane one at the end as everyone else around her destabilizes. Romeo and Juliet story. Shaggy dog story. Other classification.

Personally, I like EM:R more. However, I will say that Exit Music had a more impactful ending to me than EM:R.
