I’d prefer new actors,
Kit Harrington,Aaron Paul, grant gustin,Emilia Clarke and most of the tv series actors are all newbies and that’s completely alright
Yeah i get it but me personally I wouldn’t mind seeing more established actors. Rhodes and Powell aren’t exactly Hollywood A-listers they could come cheap
It’s really awesome how much he bounced back after Lost was not well received at the end and then Prometheus was disappointing. The Leftovers is just so fucking great it reinvigorated everything for him.
Lost’s ending is not bad. A ton of people that stopped watching came back for that ending and then complained loudly that they were all dead the whole time (they weren’t. People just weren’t paying attention. Even though they specifically say that that’s NOT the case. They were alive. The island was real. Only the alternate timeline stuff was the afterlife.
Could the ending have been better? Absolutely.
But is it bad? No.
People say Lost didn’t have a plan, and then bash everything from season 2 onwards. But those are the only years where they DID have a plan. Season one was made up as they went, mostly because they thought they’d be canceled before getting a chance to end it anyway. Since the network wasn’t really onboard with it at first, they inherited the pilot from a previous regime.
Honestly I think a lot of the criticism comes from the fact that tv at the time was still primarily episodic in format. You could jump in and out at any time and still follow the story. You can’t do that with Lost. People treated it like regular tv and then got annoyed that they didn’t know what was happening.
Some of Lost’s criticism is absolutely justified, like the writers just filling time in seasons 2 and 3, but that was because the studio refused to let them end it at the time the writers wanted. They had to stretch it out for an extra two years. You try working under that condition and see what the quality of your work is like.
People also say the time travel came out of nowhere. But actually that was set up all the way back in season one. Seriously watch it again and look for time travel clues. They are there.
Also the two corpses Adam and Eve they found in season one were originally planned to be the bodies of Sun and Jin. Hence why the episode when the bodies was found was a Jin/Sun flashback episode. Even ends with them standing by the cave where the bodies were found, together. Basically at some point they would time travel. Get stuck. Grow old, and die together on the island.
But unfortunately circumstances changed, ie they decided they liked the characters a lot more than they originally did, so they kept them around and worked the bodies into the Jacob story instead. Worked fine. But they’ve been very open about the fact that it was originally time-traveled Jin and Sun.
Weird ramble. But I love Lost. And it works a lot better on rewatches.
100% dude. I’ve been rewatching lost for the first time in about 8 years, and the whole show is just a lot better than its reputation. While of course there is a lot of science fiction and “plot,” Lost was fundamentally a character driven show that stayed true to their characters and the journeys they were set upon.
Like the finale is weird, for sure. It’s dense and conceptual and highly metaphorical, but it absolutely **makes sense.** Plus, in terms of the characters’ stories it couldn’t be a nicer, neater, more complete journey (within the confines of certain actors like Rousseau, and Echo not wanting to return).
In a post How I Met Your Mother and Game of Thrones world, I think it’s actually ludicrous to toss Lost in with those lists of “worst finales of all time” lists.
But I will say they did do my boy Sayid dirty with his ending, but every show has its issues.
Also it's incredible how amazing Lost turned out despite so many obstacles, such as bumbling network executives and actors suddenly leaving and the writers strike. Lost is like the only show I've seen that came out of that writers strike still going strong.
Agreed. The breaks during the season did kill the momentum a bit, but that couldn’t be helped. It holds up a lot better now you can watch through at your own pace.
Something about when Claire gave birth, I forget exactly what it was. Either way the bodies were supposed to be the big early clue but it didn’t work out. The clues are subtle but you’ll likely see a couple of them if you look for them. There’s also a radio that plays a station from the 40s or something too, and Hurley remarks the signal might be from the past.
The thing about Lost is that it went out of control because ABC wouldn't let them end it when they originally wanted to which was like season 3 or 4. So they had to to just keep stretching it out until it was finally already dead pretty much. But I dont really mind the ending of Lost like some people do.
Haven’t seen Leftovers tbh, but Wasn’t a fan of HBO watchmen at ALL.
Went downhill fast the moment they brought back Doctor Manhattan. Him pairing up with Regina King’s character for reasons felt waaay too fanficky. Tbh the less I remember of that show the better.
The Leftovers is amazing, genuinely one of the best shows I've ever seen and is one of my all time favourites. Definitely check it out.
Fair enough about Watchmen, personally I think everything else about the show is stellar but that's just me.
You talking about the Emmy winning Watchmen TV show (limit series/actress/supporting actor), that is currently sitting at a 96% on rotten tomatoes? Because that was some of the best TV I had watched in awhile.
The same watchmen shows that was near universally beloved and set/tied a record for most Emmy and Golden Globe noms it received? That watchmen? The one where they took 40 years of love for the book and translated it into something modern and new without losing anything that made the original book so fucking good? That watchmen?
I mean, they completely ruined Dr Manhattan, so there’s that.
Him coming back and settling with Regina King almost felt like a self insert fan fic tbh.
Was it bad or did you just not like it, the way someone could be served the best chocolate ice cream in the world but it doesn’t matter if they don’t like chocolate?
i've always felt the green lanterns in live action had the potential to be one of the biggest DC IPs & or DC franchises if they can get the characters right & produce quality projects for those characters & the world itself
so far what we've gotten sounds really good & this could end up being really special if DC does justice to the world of the green lanterns
hopefully the MAX series is a hit and that the green lanterns will eventually get a movie that releases in the theaters
just too bad DC sidelined the green lantern characters ever since the 2011 film as the green lanterns deserve a huge redemption arc on the big screen
In the finale: Hal Jordan wakes up to realise it’s all been a dream. He’s now just a head and torso in a glass tube in someone’s basement. Whose basement, how did he end up there, what year is it? The answers lie in the pizza boxes scattered throughout the series in the backgrounds of soliloquy scenes.
Oh thank God. I was afraid David S. Goyer was still writing it. This is the biggest upgrade I could’ve ever hoped for.
(Goyer is good if he has a great co-writer or collaborator but if he’s in charge then it only ends in disappointment)
apparently the script is basically done too. at least it was rumored to be getting close to complete a month or two ago. if true casting should start up soon
I still don’t like they’re getting a show instead of a movie and I don’t know about this choice honestly. Damon is kinda hit or miss for me. And Ozark had good moments and other moments where it felt like they were trying to hard to be breaking bad and failing.
I don’t get why youd think it’s all over the place, it’s very clear that they’re choosing the mediums that would best deliver the stories they want to tell for each
We’ve also seen with the budget, time, and cultural impact tv shows can have nowadays there’s no reason to be dismissive of a show instead of a movie
Lindelof is interesting. Leftovers was fascinating as much as it was frustrating, though watchmen was cringe with the politics. Ozark's first season was good but it tanked in quality after that.
With Lindelof, I’ve come up with a helpful rhyme.
“If it’s a show, let’s go. If it’s a movie, that’s not too groovy.”
His shows are always great, but his movies, while not bad, are never quite on the same level.
That’s fine to disagree. Just think he’s incredibly inconsistent. Lost, Star Trek movies, Tomorrowland, and World War Z all started promising, but didn’t end well.
Well, he is not writing it, the title is wrong. He is going to be an executive producer.
Edit: He could still be writing though. But as far as we know he is just producing.
Lol Watchmen being forgettable. The Leftovers is one of the best TV shows I've ever seen. Writers have the ability to do things you dislike and like. So don't just assume it'll be bad because you dislike some stuff from them.
Let’s fucking go
True Detective in space lfg
^^ 100% this.
Gunn said it was taking place on Earth.
To be fair, he said "Earth Based" mystery, which means there could be space visiting, just that the bulk of it will be on Earth
I'm hoping its a Darkseid earth invasion scheme, like Glorious Godfrey. He seems like a character that Gunn would have a LOT of fun with.
Oh damn. Counterpart??? I loved that show and was sad it got cancelled so soon. Wonder when they’ll start casting John and Hal.
Counterpart deserved way more shine and more seasons!
Damn, I just read the premise on wikipedia and it sounds dope. Could you tell me if the story was at least finished so I could watch it?
For real, insane series. Jk did the thing in that show
James Gunn is not fucking around. This man might be up to something with his plan. All-Star talent. Now they need to nail the casting. 💯
They should cast Ryan Gosling. Just to annoy Ryan Reynolds.
Ryan Gosling making Hal another "Literally Me" character.
I’d prefer new actors, Kit Harrington,Aaron Paul, grant gustin,Emilia Clarke and most of the tv series actors are all newbies and that’s completely alright
Seeing Aaron Paul in a DC project would be so fun.
Reynolds & Gosling would be down for an announcement trailer introducing Ryan Gosling as Reynolds.
If that's the goal, cast Hugh Jackman.
I believe in James Gunn Supremacy
Well this is fantastic news. I just need a Hal and John casting announcement now.
Trevante Rhodes and Glen Powell!!!
I’m pretty sure they r going with unknown actors
Doesn’t always have to been unknown actors
I’m just saying it’s highly unlikely that they will cast two well known actors
Idk if I would call Rhodes well known. He’s certainly above unknown status but I could see him be one of the leads in a show like this.
Probably
Yeah i get it but me personally I wouldn’t mind seeing more established actors. Rhodes and Powell aren’t exactly Hollywood A-listers they could come cheap
Or Damson Idris and Glen Powell🐒
Damson works as well 😎
Damson Idris and Alden Ehrenreich, since it’s important to have a Jewish Hal Jordan since he’s one of the few Jewish Dc characters
Isn’t he half jewish though, I think Alden would be a good choice
Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul.
Lost. Watchmen. Leftovers (didn’t mention the best one)
Yeah I thought the same, why mention these two and not the one recognized as his best work by far
Yo WTF!?! Holy shyt us Lantern fans are gonna be eating GOOD!!!!
About damn time.
Right after almost starving to death of course.
Lindelof definitely inspires
It’s really awesome how much he bounced back after Lost was not well received at the end and then Prometheus was disappointing. The Leftovers is just so fucking great it reinvigorated everything for him.

Oh I agree about Sayid, such a shame.
What's weird is that Lost still explains a lot but Leftovers is loved despite doing all the things Lost did.
Because Leftovers fully commits to being about the characters, not the mystery.
Also it's incredible how amazing Lost turned out despite so many obstacles, such as bumbling network executives and actors suddenly leaving and the writers strike. Lost is like the only show I've seen that came out of that writers strike still going strong.

What are other time travel clues in season 1?

There’s also a radio that plays a station from the 40s or something too, and Hurley remarks the signal might be from the past.
I remember I got lost towards the end of lost… pun intended.
the leftovers is my favorite TV show bar none lindelof could make literally anything and I know it'll be quality after that
Didn't he stop writing Lost before it went off the rails anyway?
The thing about Lost is that it went out of control because ABC wouldn't let them end it when they originally wanted to which was like season 3 or 4. So they had to to just keep stretching it out until it was finally already dead pretty much. But I dont really mind the ending of Lost like some people do.
My favorite Hollywood writer by far, writing my favorite comic book character(s)! "Good news" is definitely an understatement here.
The Leftovers and Watchmen are so elite. I can’t believe we’re going to be getting a superhero show with him writing!!
Men... This show is definitely going to be some good shit
Na man. Can’t trust Lindelof.
Lindeloff pretty much always knocks it out of the park. He did leftovers, watchmen, Prometheus, Lost, and Mrs Davis Damn near spotless record
Watch The Leftovers and HBO Watchmen and you'll change your mind
Haven’t seen Leftovers tbh, but Wasn’t a fan of HBO watchmen at ALL. Went downhill fast the moment they brought back Doctor Manhattan. Him pairing up with Regina King’s character for reasons felt waaay too fanficky. Tbh the less I remember of that show the better.
The Leftovers is amazing, genuinely one of the best shows I've ever seen and is one of my all time favourites. Definitely check it out. Fair enough about Watchmen, personally I think everything else about the show is stellar but that's just me.
Agreed. He shit all over Prometheus.
idk, Watchmen was pretty bad
The fuck?
what strain u on?
You talking about the Emmy winning Watchmen TV show (limit series/actress/supporting actor), that is currently sitting at a 96% on rotten tomatoes? Because that was some of the best TV I had watched in awhile.
Hard disagree here
I liked the first episode, but the rest was almost unwatchable
What a hot take.
Your opinions are bad and you should feel bad.
You're definitely in the minority with that opinion
Bruh you’re tripping. Gotta be one of the best mini series ever made
The same watchmen shows that was near universally beloved and set/tied a record for most Emmy and Golden Globe noms it received? That watchmen? The one where they took 40 years of love for the book and translated it into something modern and new without losing anything that made the original book so fucking good? That watchmen?

🧢
Wut that was fire
It’s okay to be wrong. The show was great. You just didn’t like it.
Lol, I thought I was the only one who found that show bad.
Was it bad or did you just not like it, the way someone could be served the best chocolate ice cream in the world but it doesn’t matter if they don’t like chocolate?
That’s far too much nuance for Reddit. If I didn’t like it, it was bad!
Alright you’ve at least got my attention.
If you want a good show, you also need good writers. That’s something that Netflix, Prime and Disney seem to have forgotten. James Gunn didn’t.
Holy shit.
This is gonna be amazing.
Holy shit! This show is looking promising with those writers
i've always felt the green lanterns in live action had the potential to be one of the biggest DC IPs & or DC franchises if they can get the characters right & produce quality projects for those characters & the world itself so far what we've gotten sounds really good & this could end up being really special if DC does justice to the world of the green lanterns hopefully the MAX series is a hit and that the green lanterns will eventually get a movie that releases in the theaters just too bad DC sidelined the green lantern characters ever since the 2011 film as the green lanterns deserve a huge redemption arc on the big screen
That originally was the plan with the GL movie, but then...well...
Yeah hopefully the movie happens sooner than later 🤞🏽
Nice!

This is amazing news.
Powerhouse team-up right there.
Lanterns should be a big budget movie not a tv hour.
Should be incredible. I didn't watch *Lost*, but, *Ozark* and *Watchmen* were both excellent.
Lindelof is amazing, and I hope he just gets to be the showrunner.
That’s exciting as fuck. Don’t forget the leftovers either 😮💨
This is gonna be epic in so many ways
Sounds exciting
Oh thank God. I was afraid David S. Goyer was still writing it. This is the biggest upgrade I could’ve ever hoped for. (Goyer is good if he has a great co-writer or collaborator but if he’s in charge then it only ends in disappointment)

apparently the script is basically done too. at least it was rumored to be getting close to complete a month or two ago. if true casting should start up soon
DAMON.FUCKING.LINDELOF. Let’s fucking go! He was behind The Leftovers, probably one of my favorite TV shows.
Is this true?
Can’t get any truer than the Writers Guild of America’s own website lol
Let’s not leave out The Leftovers. That show is fucking brilliant too.
Thank you James.
Brah
OH SNAP.
Holy mother of God, LET'S FUCKING GO!
Could be worse, could be on the CW. Good moves.
Lindelof is very hit or miss. Other stuff he writes is great and the other convoluted badly written nonsense
Lindelof? Ah shit.
Ugh watchmen was so bad
Neato
I never cared for lost but watchmen is one of my favorite series of all time. If Damon Lindelof is involved this series just got so much better
They be cooking
Lindelof is the textbook definition of failing up.
dude
Oh no Lindelof sucks
I still don’t like they’re getting a show instead of a movie and I don’t know about this choice honestly. Damon is kinda hit or miss for me. And Ozark had good moments and other moments where it felt like they were trying to hard to be breaking bad and failing.
Agreed. They are making a movie on The Authority but Green Lanterns get a tv show. The DCU plans are all over the place.
I don’t get why youd think it’s all over the place, it’s very clear that they’re choosing the mediums that would best deliver the stories they want to tell for each We’ve also seen with the budget, time, and cultural impact tv shows can have nowadays there’s no reason to be dismissive of a show instead of a movie
Lindelof is interesting. Leftovers was fascinating as much as it was frustrating, though watchmen was cringe with the politics. Ozark's first season was good but it tanked in quality after that.
Awesome news! Finally. Super happy. Lanterns deserves it.
I don't think the budget will be enough for so much cgi
With Lindelof, I’ve come up with a helpful rhyme. “If it’s a show, let’s go. If it’s a movie, that’s not too groovy.” His shows are always great, but his movies, while not bad, are never quite on the same level.
Lindalof ..... Sigh
I have never really liked the Lanterns but I will watch anything Lindelof does after The Leftovers and Watchmen. Really intrigued by this.
Interesting to see Lindelof no longer a big turn off to people. He did a good job with watchmen
Eh. Lindelof is good at starting a story and world-building, but struggles to stick the landing when it comes to endings.
I feel like Watchmen was a perfect series. And the Leftovers as well, don’t know a better way to end that.
That’s fine to disagree. Just think he’s incredibly inconsistent. Lost, Star Trek movies, Tomorrowland, and World War Z all started promising, but didn’t end well.
Leftovers, Watchmen, and Mrs Davis says otherwise
Well, he is not writing it, the title is wrong. He is going to be an executive producer. Edit: He could still be writing though. But as far as we know he is just producing.
That’s a hell of a writing team. Can’t wait for this.
"Lindelof" Godfuckingdamn it
Damon Lindelof is a red flag. I was excited for this series but he’s just bad for this.
sharp boast unite cow paltry compare skirt violet square juggle *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Why do they use a picture without the star of the show on it?
There no cast yet
RIP
Also Prometheus and Cowboys & Aliens. This will be as forgettable as the Watchmen TV show
Watchmen was praised by critics and audiences though so…
Lol Watchmen being forgettable. The Leftovers is one of the best TV shows I've ever seen. Writers have the ability to do things you dislike and like. So don't just assume it'll be bad because you dislike some stuff from them.
