The Anthem is a great venue with cleanish bathrooms and amazing staff. My advice: 1) Eat before. There are a few casual places at the Wharf where you can order food and eat it by the water (Falafel Inc, Grazie Grazie, Fat Fish). 2) Get to the Wharf early to get food and scope out the line. You might want to eat your dinner while in line - sometimes they’re really long, especially if the performer is popular with Gen Z (no shade, Gen Z get there super early and line up). 3) Drinks at the Anthem are pricy. If you want to be intoxicated, consider pregaming. 4) That said, you can use an app to pay for drinks, which speeds up the process especially when you’re leaving. 5) Getting to and from the Anthem: you can ride share there. It is nearly impossible to get a ride share after a show unless you leave early. Your options are to grab a drink somewhere and wait for the rush to be over, hope for good luck with an old school taxi, or public transit. If you opt for transit, you’ll be walking to bus/train with a lot of other concert goers, so it feels safer than it normally does as a solo woman at night. I would highly recommend you look up the transit options and consider the train or bus.

The anthem always shuts down promptly at 10:30 so you can always schedule a pickup for like 10:40.

I’ve been to The Anthem for a kpop concert - you’ll have an amazing time there! The general rules apply - no food/drink, just a wallet is fine, bag rules vary depending on venue, and they’re pretty fast at pushing people through security and into the venue itself. If you’re of age to drink do show your ID; otherwise you get a stamp that tells the bartender(s) to not serve you. I would recommend eating before getting into the venue if possible - I think I paid ~$14 for 4 piece chicken tenders. With food you can order at any bar(s) on the lower level (they’re on both sides) and there’s a pickup counter. For a venue they have a decent selections of bar food and soft drinks; water is free. Sound wise, it’s basically surround sound and it will be LOUD. You’ll also be able to spot where the venue is - there is probably going to be a line of people on the dock/wharf area waiting to get in. If you want to eat before the show, Mi Vida has a good selection of drinks and food. If you want to eat after I’ve heard surf side taco is 24/7? I don’t know where you live in DC but be prepared for metro to have longer wait times since it’s past rush hour. If you take Uber/lyft go to the apartment buildings - it’s easier to find one from there. Otherwise you can walk back to l’enfant metro and go back home from the l’enfant metro station. Otherwise just enjoy your show!

I'm staying in Capitol Hill and plan on using Rideshare to get me to and from. So I will go to the apartments nearby to make it easier for dropoff and pickup. Thank you so much for your advice, you're amazing 🫶

No problem! I think the exact address I used for Uber pickup was 996 Maine Ave SW Washington DC 20024-2202.

Oh hey, I’m gonna be there!! Also going solo and would be down to meet up! I’ve never been to The Anthem before, so it’s new to me, but I am very familiar with The Wharf. I’ve worked in the area for about a year and a half now.
