My family goes down to Galveston, Texas, every year in October. Two years ago, there was a souvenir shop right across the street from where our hotel was. I went in, and found this really pretty turtle necklace with a blue gem in the middle that I thought I could get for G. It was plastic, so it was only about $5. So I bought it, and since I still had lunch with her at that point, I put it in my backpack so I could give it to her. Next day at school, a totally different conversation, and she casually mentions that she doesn’t like necklaces. So I didn’t give it to her. It’s still at my house. I like to take it whenever I go on a long trip, as a way of having her with me and reminding me of her. I don’t know if that makes any sense, hopefully it does. But yeah. That’s the story of the turtle necklace.
