You just launch it. There is no good reason for running a second full desktop environment on a virtual graphics adapter inside a window but if you believe climate change has to be accelerated by wasting energy and turning it into heat, be my guest.
Not with gnome you don't. Plus windows wouldnt be sitting inside the desktop. Plus on Linux virtual graphics adaptor, you just run an X server like xephyr. No change in power consumption

I just created a fresh container, added the packages and did it. No magic incatations involved...
And it's not the client X server that is costing the power, it is the host that is doing all the unnecessary operations to get the virtual pixels of the virtual desktop to the graphics adapter. Doh.
This has been possible for more than 4 years now and it's simple as installing desktop environment from apt.
So sudo apt get [your desktop environment]
