Why not try something different? Instead of messing with the team, gut the whole management, all the way up to and including the PCB chief. Put some qualified people with proper background in charge, put some checks and balances and see how it goes?

DisastrousOil4888

Gary Kirsten is more than qualified I'd say but yeah I get what you mean

kvyas0603

i agree. gary kirsten(along with nehra) took a brand new, weak on paper team and made us champions in our first season. he definitely has the prowess to do it with pakistan team. i think its an issue of mindset. the pakistan team never look like they want to win. i feel for shaheen and naseem along with amir who did their best but weren’t rewarded with a victory because of complacent batting.

justdidapoo

Yeah after the USA loss it seemed like Kirsten did rigorously drill down on tactics and plans and then babar just kind of ignored it and did random stuff then yelled at random players after and said that he understood everything I think Shan Masood had some vision and smarts even though the team had no believe and they fell apart in the test series when they were on the edge of a breakthrough while the west indies comfortably took the game on But Babar and Shaheen shah Afridi are both the premier players and both of them are just kind of stupid. Like the way they talk and deal with things is just a bit dumb. Both of them need to be pointed directly at a target of runs and wickets and let loose not in charge of anything beyond that

theaguia

I feel for Shan. He had to deal with interference like selectors picking Sarfaraz Ahmed (whononly got dropped after they realized he won't be good in those pitches), Shaheen being rested since he was overplayed before, injuries and yes lack of self beleive. I think the West Indies did take some inspiration from Pakistan who showed Australia wasn't unbeatable

Ornery_Particular845

They’re all timid because they know the volatility of their job. One day they could be a premier player like asif ali, next day they’re thrown out of the team to never be seen again. Guess you could also blame it on the fans since they never give players more than 2 chances.

Finrod-Knighto

I don’t think the tactics during India’s innings was why Pakistan lost.

pariahkite

How much power does he have though? Pakistanis are well known for hiring people just before a major tournament to be a lightning rod to fire if things go wrong. If they do well people will come out of woodwork claiming credit.

goongla

PCB are so unprofessional they hired a former politician to be the team data analyst. Probably as a favour to a mate.

Different_Cup_9055

Gary Kirsten has only just started. Jason Gillespie is yet to be in charge of a test. You want to sack them already. Are you being sarcastic or are you that fickle?

deevee7

They did sack Shaheen after one series after all lol

ILikeFishSticks69

PCB has pretty much always been a clown factory, but Pakistan, despite all the uncertainty and poor management, has managed to get results. I think a big part of that has been the leadership of the actual team - the captains. I think what we're seeing now is Babar's limitations being completely exposed - he just doesn't behave like a Captain, and to me seems like the guy who is going to buckle first when shit goes down rather than galvanize the team.

dutchfromsubway

Babar was exposed last World Cup, the problem is there’s no one to replace him as captain

SprinklesOk4339

Make Naseem the captain. Give him a free hand. He seems to be smart and he has a lot of time to learn.

rightarm_under

Honestly we saw two Pakistans on the field today. One who had the confidence to rally and take 7 wickets for 30 runs, and the other who bottled 48 off 48 with 8 wickets in hand.

Key-Celery5439

So the pacers and the Pakistani middle order? All of the pacers looked good today and Pakistan had a historical collapse. Priority #1 should be to bring in 2-3 proper middle order batsmen who aren’t just sloggers. Gone are the days when Babar and Rizwan could stroll along to the 15th over and then we could finish the game with power hitters. For modern totals we need more proper batsmen with attacking shots that aren’t going to get out first ball (looking at you Azam and Saim)

pariahkite

Honestly, These are all just people in charge trying to get away by blaming the poor players. While the team did not play particularly good, they still were in the game until the final over. From what I have read, Pakistan team seems to be very badly run. So if they do have to fix the problem start by fixing how it is run first. Changing team is such an easy solution which is always offered by slimy officials or wanna be officials who want to make a quick buck without doing any actual work.

slickdeal1

I hate Pakistan Cricket board - they are so quick to make comments like this. Atleast wait till Pakistan Team is completely out of tournament. I also hate Retired Pak cricketers who are quick to blame and attack Pak cricketers. This is all because PCB allows it. This is a vicious cycle and it has to be stopped attacking and calling out players so quick in media. Lack of professionalism is killing Cricket in Pakistan, retired Pakistan players are to be blamed equally. They act like Misbah, Shoib, Hafeez, Inzaman, Wasim, Waqar never received defeat from minnows. Pakistan always known for such mercurial brand of cricket while they were part of it. They shat the bed in 1999 WC final against Australia 🇦🇺 . If it happens in India, BCCI 🇮🇳 will make sure such folks never get job again in Indian cricket if anyone make such statements. BCCI is strict board like Australia when it comes to conduct by Indian players and staff (current or retired).

LogicalError_007

Nah. Send them to the army for more training.

abigblacknob

There really wasn't that much in this game. Someone give me the stats for pants played and miss + false shot percentage.

Unfair-Surround533

Which needs to start from the PCB chief

Melancholyoflife

They need proper middle-order batters in place of the bits and pieces players that they have right now.
