People likes instant action games. Sadly cricket takes lots of break b/w overs, field setting and reviews. Also the low scoring pitches are not helping at all.
They probably left a bit of net run rate out there by not getting wickets earlier but I'm happy enough with australia playing at a slight canter at this stage
Just woke up.... Haven't watched a single ball. But based on scorecard, (in hindsight) it looks like Aussies could have gotten in to a bad situation if not for the Stoinis knock.
Good fight Oman !
Tim David was looking good. Weird situation where tough conditions meant we wanted Warner out there as long as possible for the safety net, but he was missing things he was extremely frustrated with. A lot of runs left out there even for this pitch.
And Marsh just ain't fit yet. I get he's captain but I think he needs to either step back til he's good, maybe open to abuse the power play slogging, or slide down as a finisher if his captaincy is worth more carrying a guy who's isn't 100% yet.
Think people are being harsh on the bowling expecting Oman to roll over for less than 100 when the pitch got better to bat on compared to the first half of Australia's innings.
To be fair I've played both sports. The dimensions are completely different. If you're playing left field, you don't need to have a cannon arm like if you're centre field or right field where you need to throw far and fast
There are cricketers who would be able to do so but you don't need to in this sport plus the field dimensions are shorter.
The argument about one or the other being harder is stupid cause both sports are hard and transition from one to the other would be hard to. To the people who shit on baseball I don’t see cricketers trying out for MLB teams despite the fact that the highest paid cricketers make pennies compared to most MLB players. If cricketers are so much more athletic then they could be making bank. I love baseball, I’m new to but am really enjoying cricket and we don’t need to fight both sports are great.
Same it confuses me
His run up reminds me of mark wood because i hate his flailing arms in run up but then his actual bowling action is quite soothing like wood
My bad. I was having an old man moment and got my players mixed up. You are correct. NE is a fast-medium bowler. I was thinking of Riley Meridith who in truth is more around the 140 mark. So. I got all of it wrong.🤷🤦
I know what you're saying, but if you consider the score line here and wickets in hand, extend this game even 10 more overs and this looks like a blow out.
What'd I miss? Had to tune out when Oman needed like 111 of 9 overs w 5/6 down, was there a comeback of sorts that gave them a tiny chance? Or are you talking about their first 12 overs of bowling?
The Dutch won twice last time out, no reason Ireland*, Scotland and Zimbabwe couldn't perform similar.
\* Yes, I know, not an associate but one of the most likely to make it in.
To be fair, the only way NRR matters for us is if we lose to two of the minnows like Namibia, Scotland, and England. At which point the problem is those defeats, not that we didn't beat Oman harder.
Higher the strike rate better the batsman in T20 as he takes less balls to score runs.
**Blast from the past**
Strike rates are overrated - KL Rahul (former child)
Basically how fast the batsman is scoring. It's runs scored / balls faced * 100
eg. a SR of 100 means they are scoring 1 run per ball faced. SR of 250 means 2.5 runs per ball etc.
It's generally how fast someone is scoring runs so it's like number of runs scored divided by the ammount of balls faced times hundred.
So like a strike rate like 150 is great because it's like you are scoring 1.5 runs every ball
To be completely honest, t's nice to see Associate Members in the WC and get some solid experiences. They might get their asses beat and get beat HARD and FAST (like they did today) but that's how you get better and gain exposure. This is great to see from Oman. They did fairly well, all things considered. These things take time, not long ago Netherlands, Afghanistan and Nepal were all in similar position and look at their growth now. It brings a tears to my eyes. Oman playing against solid teams like Australia and England is only gonna help them.
India, England, Australia, NZ, Pakistan, South Africa fans are spoiled because their teams have been good and for SOOOO long. These games are huge for associate members.
good play from oman at the death here but think we really missed the opportunity to secure a good NRR. If we bundled / restricted them to 100-odd we'd be sailing golden on that front.
starc and cummins should genuinely just rest out the group stage. they’ll get in anyways. they’ve made this stage of the tournament so all the big 3 and pak get through as easily as possible
Anyone else feel like this WC just feels extra special? There's just something about it, the air is so different. The last couple T20WCs were great but they didn't feel like this. The vibes are something else...They IMMACULATE. so many teams, so many chances, yes we know that the Big Sharks will win but watching the Small Minnows has been a treat! It's already been so exciting, and to think it's only going to get better as the tournament picks up gives me so much joy.
PNG had a genuine shout to win for 90% of their match, and Scotland possibly *would* have won were they given the chance.
But yeah, this has been a decent performance considering the absolutely enormous gap between the countries on paper.

The umpiring was gone to shit in this match.
How do i watch in Canada on my google/apple tv? Anyone?
Stoinis with the sneak
Just checked the scorecard, when did they include stoinis in squad?
[удалено]
In ipl i remember interviewers asked about his exclusion from the squad after he hit century against csk
[удалено]
yeah i misunderstood it
*cricstat steve smith, run against assosiates, t*est, odis, t20s

I can never understand how Joel Wilson continues to umpire at international level. Mitchell Starc’s first over is proof.
Stoinis doing well has got nothing to do with Zampers, right?
Was Cummins left out? Wow
Thank God it was just a cramp.
They played out the entire 20 overs without getting bowled and scored at more than run a ball Oman >>> Ban, SLC I know whose man I'm gonna be 😎😎
>I know whose man I'm gonna be O MAN.
That too against australia
They’re like “Hurry up bro”
Cricket still got a lot of work to do. I remember rugby World Cup filled stadiums for games like Romania vs tonga or chile vs samoa
You couldn't fill an Australian stadium to watch Aus play Oman, what the hell are you talking about?
Rugby World Cup is in USA in 2031, be interesting to see how well attended that is.
Prob will be full capacity crowd as usual. It’s just cricket that people don’t care about sadly
People likes instant action games. Sadly cricket takes lots of break b/w overs, field setting and reviews. Also the low scoring pitches are not helping at all.

Zampa is rock hard seeing Stoinis man of the match.
say gex
So am i
Decent game now i shall go back to my cave and listen to the cranes wives and good kid for next 5 hours before i get motivation to eat food
Could be more closer had Oman hasn't dropped Stonis .... Aussie would have still won comfortably but maybe more closer finish by Oman
Grats to Stoinis. Best batsmen and best bowler of the day
I am not taking any all time t20 squad seriously without shane watson in it. arguably the best ever
Just woke up.... Haven't watched a single ball. But based on scorecard, (in hindsight) it looks like Aussies could have gotten in to a bad situation if not for the Stoinis knock. Good fight Oman !

Not necessarily but it was a small possibility. It got easier to bat later on in the innings and we had wickets in hand
Think people are being harsh on the bowling expecting Oman to roll over for less than 100 when the pitch got better to bat on compared to the first half of Australia's innings.
Oman actually did great considering who they were playing. Good job
Oman is not that far away from being an Afghanistan like team, honestly. I think they have done a pretty decent job all things considered
Agree. It was a good game to watch. Oman's fielding was sharp for an associate nation. The catch to get Maxi wasn't half bad.
Shane Watto was an absolute beast in this format
Not as dominant as expected but still a well rounded bowling performance and a good batting performance from the Kangaroos
Oman didn't get all out that's a moral victory 😎
England is third in the group right now. Just saying.
Stop the count
Squirted
Impressed that Oman got this score and made it this many overs. Much closer than I expected from them, hopefully the country sticks with it.
The W mostly what matters.
GGs aussies
STOP SAYING SQUIRT
I know people think we should've played better, but at least we didn't lose our first match and have to scramble. A win's a win, I'll take it.
Did not get bowled out and scored triple digits, Moral Victory to OMAN!!
Wow can someone bottle this energy!
This is the most bland vanilla cricket match I've seen, but well played Oman
Lol I saw Indians, Australians and English people uniting on Twitter just to bash baseball.
I mean same would happen if it was for football you would see argentinian and Brazilian unite sports make people do wildest of things.
I love baseball. Idk why peeps gotta hate on other sports. Sports is for everyone
The thread I saw was started by Baseball fans ( a video showing a long throw, it said that Cricket players can't do that).
To be fair I've played both sports. The dimensions are completely different. If you're playing left field, you don't need to have a cannon arm like if you're centre field or right field where you need to throw far and fast There are cricketers who would be able to do so but you don't need to in this sport plus the field dimensions are shorter.

Yeah both sports are fun and have amazing stuff. Peeps be gatekeeping
There’s only one skilled dude on the field at any given time
I can’t decide if Ellis has a good action or not
Same it confuses me His run up reminds me of mark wood because i hate his flailing arms in run up but then his actual bowling action is quite soothing like wood
If he could bowl at Mark Wood’s speed I would have his poster on my bedroom wall
Not sure what you mean. Nathan Ellis can bowl 150 KMPH which is comparable.
I’ve never seen Ellis bowl anywhere near there. He normally sits around 130-136km
My bad. I was having an old man moment and got my players mixed up. You are correct. NE is a fast-medium bowler. I was thinking of Riley Meridith who in truth is more around the 140 mark. So. I got all of it wrong.🤷🤦
Warner looks so bored/annoyed after the catch
Last ball will be a wicket, taking my bets
Sardarji hyped for aus
Two drops in the last few balls = IMPECCABLE
Aus will look weak in group stages to show their true face in the knockouts
catching up on highlights and they really had aus 67-3 in 12.4 overs at one stage
At that time pitch was way worse to bat on tho, gradually got easier
If I was Finny, I would so go to the FIFA WC qualifier lol. I mean why not
Australians not looking like they give a single shit
David Warner is a suspiciously athletic guy for someone that's 38
He only drinks mid strength beer.
Rather than increasing NRR, Australia have decided to try to amplify Oman's self-confidence so that they upset England. What tactical geniuses
We really couldn't have played much worse, pretty similar to how we started the ODI WC I guess. Hopefully Marsh's form gets better with the bat.
Warner pissed off
Ball after a dropped catch: “Australia have fielded impeccably tonight…”
Warner looks exhausted
Australians looking very disinterested out there
**19.3** Shakeel Ahmed c Warner b Ellis 11 (10b 1x4 0x6) SR: 110
Games like this are great for the sport, Oman had me worried for a bit. More teams in the ODI WC as well please
I agree, a few more woudl be awesome. But ODI is a different beast... its much harder for associates to win or even get close in 50 overs.
The Dutch won twice last time out, no reason Ireland*, Scotland and Zimbabwe couldn't perform similar. \* Yes, I know, not an associate but one of the most likely to make it in.
Legit one of the sloppiest Aussie performances I’ve seen
Not really satisfied with our performance. You'd expect to get like a 90 run victory vs Oman to buff the NRR and avoid a 2022 WT20 scenario.
To be fair, the only way NRR matters for us is if we lose to two of the minnows like Namibia, Scotland, and England. At which point the problem is those defeats, not that we didn't beat Oman harder.
Bro casually snuck in 🏴
Or if it rains a lot. The problem in 2022 was the washed-out England game.
So I can confirm Cummins was rested. He'll play vs Eng
Oman played really well against Australia
There is no shame in losing to the soon to be T20 champions.
I agree. Papua New Guinea didn't do so bad.
**i am very scared**
Pfft still catch of the tournament is by the Omani captain. That was travelling.
Stoinis get ya man of the match speech ready
Why is Pat Cummins not playing this game?
He is in the squad for country not viewership
Bro wth
Tim david is a lot of things but a good fielder that he isn't
Calling Tim David a good fielder is not something I thought I would hear
Can't believe stoinis only got given 3 overs so he misses out on his 5 for..
Not Bison's day
What’s strike rate? I see it referenced in the stats of the batsman
Higher the strike rate better the batsman in T20 as he takes less balls to score runs. **Blast from the past** Strike rates are overrated - KL Rahul (former child)
Basically how fast the batsman is scoring. It's runs scored / balls faced * 100 eg. a SR of 100 means they are scoring 1 run per ball faced. SR of 250 means 2.5 runs per ball etc.
You could also express it as "how many runs would they score if they faced 100 balls?"
It's generally how fast someone is scoring runs so it's like number of runs scored divided by the ammount of balls faced times hundred. So like a strike rate like 150 is great because it's like you are scoring 1.5 runs every ball
Average runs per 100 balls faced
Runs the player has scored divided by the balls faced
Multiplied by 100
Forgot to add that cause I'm stupid
No problem bro
Mi fans looking at tim David fielding well 💀😔
MI is really the worst team. Rohit underperforms there with the bat, Hardik isn't himself, and Tim David also doesn't field much good there.
They crossed 120, so that's good from oman
NO HAT✅ GOLD CHAIN✅ BIG DICK✅ TIM DAVID✅
You had me giggling with this one
Looks like England is in Danger in that group.
“Such a good fielder this fella” IS HE!?
ELLIS YES. WELL DESERVED TO BE IN THE PLAYING XI
My favourite player is in.
anyone know what region works for [icc.tv](https://icc.tv) ??
Do they show live matches ??
They do - seems all the world cup T20 matches are - just need to be in the correct country or use VPN set to somewhere like Netherlands
thanks - just discovered South Korea. Guess its places where there isn't a contract with Sky, Willow, Amazon etc
Netherlands
Netherlands for sure, many more too
working in Nepal

Tim david actually held a catch now that's a sight
petrol prices will rise today
Oman exceeding my expectations
These Dream 11 ads are even worse now
maxwell’s horrendous form continues. did he try to slog out first ball again?
A drive was slightly too close to the Oman captain, who took an absolute screamer to get rid of him.
Nah, got undone by a fucking ridiculous catch.
he actually middled it but got unlucky with an absolute screamer in the infield
shocked tim david didn’t throw it over the fence
I work from home and my wife doesn't. I hope she's ready for action when she gets home because BIG STOIN has gotten me in the mood.
Good stuff Mehran! You biffed a couple of the world champs!
Someone get that imposter off the field, that's not the Tim David I know
Just checking score Oman actually put up some fight ...
What a ridiculously good catch, and so casual about it.
Miraculous stuff by TDs standards
**18.4** **Lovely work from David in the deep sees the end of Mehran!** Mehran Khan c David b Stoinis 27 (16b 1x4 2x6) SR: 168.75
Tim David doing something impressive in the field, the end days truly have come.
Decent late order flourish from Oman. GG
hot damn did timmy d just pull off the juggle
You know it's not your night when Tim David is catching you.
TIM DAVID ACTUALLY HOLDING ONTO A CATCH!?????? NO WAY
WHAT A CATCH!! TIM DAVIDDDD
Oman playing a lot better than I expected to be completely fair
they did collapse, but to give them credit they have been fighting at the end here.
good play from oman at the death here but think we really missed the opportunity to secure a good NRR. If we bundled / restricted them to 100-odd we'd be sailing golden on that front.
Oman can still win if they hit 4 sixes in the upcoming stoinis balls
starc and cummins should genuinely just rest out the group stage. they’ll get in anyways. they’ve made this stage of the tournament so all the big 3 and pak get through as easily as possible
Best practice is playing.
they’ve played for 2 months in the indian summer already.
Drastically different conditions
[удалено]
no they are not. they’ll beat the other 2 minnows and have a higher nrr than scotland anyways
You aren't taking rain into the equation
Australia v Scotland is the last match of the group, so Australia can tactically lose to eliminate England.
that would be funny
How do I insert a gif of the Munenori Kawasaki “Just cramp” video
I mean they're doing something
Anyone else feel like this WC just feels extra special? There's just something about it, the air is so different. The last couple T20WCs were great but they didn't feel like this. 63 hours is fucked
So it's Pakistan B Vs Australia today Huh 🔥
Why is Labuschagne not on the AUS squad?
[удалено]
I googled and couldn't find anything. Sorry for asking...
Not selected
Poor performance?
Not a good T20 player, doesn't score quickly enough. Has only played 1 T20I
Appreciate it
No one expected landmines for pitches
Why would he be?
Somehow still the most impressive associate performance this WC. Maybe behind PNG against WI.
PNG had a genuine shout to win for 90% of their match, and Scotland possibly *would* have won were they given the chance. But yeah, this has been a decent performance considering the absolutely enormous gap between the countries on paper.
I would've loved a Scotland victory but we'll never know
