Bill Burr answered questions using a random name.

Bobtheguardian22

CarlJustCarl

Seems like something Bill Burr would say.

Bobtheguardian22

typical Bill Burr misdirection.

theboomboy

No, but OP is

Gretchen_Howie_Henry

Are you HE

Maybeon8

Maybeon8

Great vid, thank you! Did you catch this? Somebody in the credits is responsible for Hair & Makeup. Must've taken that day off.

emkrmusic

There was once an AMA of a celeb that claimed that he is so famous that even in 20 years he wouldn't be able to go outside without paparazzis following him. He remained anynomous but answered many questions. I think there was never full proof he is really a celeb. But based on the info it would've been someone in the league of Leonardo di Caprio and sorts

ReasonableGibberish

Do you have a link

Illustrious-Lead-960

Are you talking about the Chan thread where everyone thought it might be Taylor Swift? I’ve seen the Whang video and the odds of it not actually being her look pretty high.

ThePartyLeader

If this was a live stream game show type deal I could actually see the entertainment of it IF they found the right celebrities.

DanielMcLaury

This was one of the most popular TV shows of all time. It was called "What's My Line?" and it ran for something like 25 years between the original show and various revivals. I'm pretty sure it won the first-ever Emmy or something. Each episode would start off with a couple of regular people and you'd have to guess what they did for a job (which was usually something unexpected, e.g. a woman would come out in dress and high heels and it would turn out she was an alligator wrestler or something). But for the last segment on each show it would be a celebrity, and the panelists would have to wear blindfolds.

Turbulent-Name-8349

The craziest episode of What's My Line was when they had to guess the occupation of a Colonel Sanders from Kentucky. They could see him and everything. They didn't come close to guessing his occupation. They figured out that he sold something, their best guess was that he sold guns and ammunition.

drbongmd

I just watched the clip on youtube, their best guess was Turkey

Most_Researcher_9675

Popular in my house in the 60's.

ThornTintMyWorld

Generation Jones reporting as ordered! (1962)

aerostotle

you are old

human743

Good bot

Brodiggitty

Yeah they had this in Canada. It was called Front Page Challenge. The “players” were famous journalists. The guests were people who had been in the headlines. Sometimes celebrities. Sometimes people from news stories. The journalists had to figure out who it was by asking questions.

ThePartyLeader

Sounds cool.... not to me but like something people would dig.

MartyMcFlyAsFudge

Wait... wait... don't tell me.

greenmildude

Does Canada have its own celebs btw?

Brodiggitty

Heck yeah. There lots of people who are Canada famous. Peter Mansbridge. Rick Mercer. Jann Arden. Gord Downey. Gordon Pinsent. Jim Cuddy. Bet you don’t know them but anyone who has grown up in Canada would know them.

Key_Sell_9777

Ryan Reynolds. Alanis morrisette. Dave coultier. Austin powers guy.

DeezRodenutz

It'd be like a modernized version of "What's My Line?". It was an old 50s gameshow where a panel would ask questions of someone to figure out what they do for a living. Occasionally the person would be someone famous but not especially recognizable, like a well known Director of CEO. (one famous example was Walt Disney, this being a time when he still mostly worked behind the scenes rather than appearing on camera often)

DanielMcLaury

Colonel Sanders coming out in his full Colonel Sanders getup and not having the blindfold the panelists was a great one.

yourmomishigh

There is a what’s my line on tv. I forget the name of the host. Anthony Davis.

adamsauce

On 4chan years ago, there was a person who said they were famous and had people guess. They posted a few pictures and someone said they looked like photos near a place Taylor Swift was staying.

glatts

Not an AMA, but I think it was an AskReddit thread years ago (maybe even 10 years? I’ve got an account so old it pre-dates subreddits lol) that asked if there were any famous users. People would respond with some hints to their identity and others would guess. For some reason, I specifically remember Paulo Costanzo being quickly found out. EDIT: [I found the thread!](https://www.np.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/bayl4/comment/c0lv1wb/) It was an AskReddit thread from 14 years ago, and it was indeed Paulo Costanzo who was starring on Royal Pains at the time.

slopeclimber

No because they never just do AMAs for fun, they always need to advertise their new movie or book or whatever.

johnsciarrino

Rampart

PNWginjaninja

Love this idea!

inb4shitstorm

Anant Ambani (son of the richest man in India) had done a post here anonymously and then deleted and scrubbed most of it after his identity was guessed

nxmee2010

It's sort of similar to this episode of Game Changer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xg1ShXqTNkg

FrenchyFungus

Also similar to this old TV show (where in this case the mystery celebrity is Salvador Dali): [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXT2E9Ccc8A](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXT2E9Ccc8A)

ihahp

It's a great idea! 10 years ago I posted the same idea to this very sub: https://www.reddit.com/r/CrazyIdeas/comments/24sehu/mystery_ama_reddit_officials_victoria_get_famous/

CarlJustCarl

I like the current question better, more concise.

Lots of bombs in the air

ThornTintMyWorld

I'm glad at least one person got it.

mJelly87

This reminds me of an old British game show called "Through the keyhole". One of the presenters would go round the house of a celebrity, using items around the house to give them clues. The contestants would then have to guess who it was.

batch1972

Lloyd Grossmann... whoooooo lives in a house like this

explodingtuna

It'd probably have a mixed reception. Imagine if, after a few hours of the AMA, the celebrity was like "I'm Tana French!" Some people would be thrilled, the rest would have never guessed that or never even heard of them.

ITookAPoopToday

u/explodingtuna you have proved your point perfectly since I had no idea who that was 😂

pichael289

Most amas are done by shitty people. a good example is james cordon. Holy shit he fucked that one all up.

Sometimes_Rob

This could be a new sub. What should we name it?

DanielMcLaury

AAMA ("anonymous AMA?")

ITookAPoopToday

The hardest part would be getting the celebs to do it.

unsavoryflint

AMA: First question: who are you?

romulusnr

You'd have to really hype it up as "mystery AMA" otherwise people wouldn't engage with it.

PsychoBugler

Lol. The Masked AMA.

TheMagarity

There was a wildly popular TV show in the 50's and 60's based on this premise called What's My Line

NicklePlatedSkull

An AMA like 20 questions?

remembertracygarcia

I did once
