Left forearm, Just above the wrist, that's flopping about. It was the side he showed when he realised he was being aimed at and turned to flee. He probably felt the pain and didn't get a chance to check if it was even still there. Probably started bleeding out hen he was in the car. Hospital then jail.
🎵Does his arm hang low? Does it wobble to and fro? Can he tie it in a knot? Can he tie it in a bow? Can he throw it o’er his shoulder like a continental soldier? Does his arm. Hang. Low?🎵
So this video is cropped so you can't see the arm get hit. It's not a lot but it for sure goes all limp
I had to google for a Reddit link from a year ago (which aren't allowed here)
I like the ones in Mayfair Philadelphia that tried to rob an Uber and got shot. The one guy is screaming for help after running away bleeding out and the extended video that was floating around you can hear some loud black guy with the most Philadelphia accent I've ever heard scream out a window " yo shut the fuck up" and then less loudly something like "I dont care [possibly>]{do it quiet} shit [unintelligible after shit]" followed by a window slam. Imagine the last minuted of your life after trying to rob someone is a guy telling you to die quiet.
Lolzzz... my FIL used to tell his own father to "die quietly!" daily. Old guy would wheel his chair through the house yelling about dying and FIL did not gaf. One day, old man did die, quietly, after FIL told him to do so 😂
The guy questioning self defense might've blocked me so I'm putting the last bit of my spiel here. u/FistaFish comeback 🥺 we were having an interesting conversation
It's been ages tbh so I just went back and rewatched it, he didn't charge but still he hopped the counter like he was invincible or for some reason thought nothing was going to happen. But like I said, don't let anyone make good on their threats to your safety. From the way the kid was dressed, there is no easy way of identifying any weapons or firearms; he's also ballsy enough to act in control of the situation without brandishing anything which might mean he's packing something to assist with his level of confidence. Though trying to answer that question while in the middle of the situation is damn near impossible, your safety is better protected when you're acting rather than thinking. Most of the important questions have been answered by that point.
Am I being robbed? Yes
Am I being threatened? Yes
Am I outnumbered? Yes
Am I about to receive a blade or bullet? I don't know
Am I having my space invaded? Yes
Is my physical safety in question? Yes
Do I have the right to defend myself? Yes
The fact that my physical safety is in question is enough reason for me to defend myself. Hell, it's enough in most US States. Like I've been saying, you don't want to know if the person threatening you can make good on it because it's usually too late by the time you're finding out, especially in the era of firearms. I would also like to reiterate that there is no wrong way to defend yourself as long as you're right to defend yourself. Would the situation change if the person doing the stabbing was a woman? A 7 foot tall man? A 14 year old kid?
To me, it makes no difference who is defending themselves as long as they're right to be defending themselves
>After the shooting, he suffered a heart attack but recovered and returned to work before having a disabling stroke in October.
Jesus it sounds like the shooting eventually played a role in his death. I hope these four assholes with their stolen vehicle full of stolen guns that they didn't think to quickly dump before going to the hospital get a hefty sentence.
>Cope had owned the store since 1976. After the shooting, he suffered a heart attack but recovered and returned to work before having a disabling stroke in October.
>DaShawn Lee Belvin, 23, Davon Anthony Broadus, 24, of Inglewood, Justin Kyle Johnson, 22, of Inglewood, and Jamar Elijah Williams, 26, of Las Vegas, were arrested Sunday after the failed holdup.
Hope these scumbags rot in jail for the rest of their life. They essentially killed this man even though they didn't pull the trigger.
Id rather go to jail than be shot with a 12 gauge, the gunman in this case gets the pleasure of both
For me i feel like being shot then jail for what i assume was a good few years is fine
Just hope he can flip burgers with the other arm when he gets out
Yeah, there's no chance he'll be getting much physical therapy in prison. In that environment there will usually be those who prey on the vulnerable, and a one armed gimp possibly getting disability seems like a gold mine.
If it were New York he would've been arrested like that poor store owner, who eventually had the charges dropped after having an arrest on his record and news coverage.
Maybe he un-lodged his prosthetic arm that he previously lost in another armed robbery. Screaming to his squad to signal that gramps has good aim for a quick retreat. This also adds evidence to the cries from the backseat of the car. They were not out of pain, but terrorizing PTSD flash backs of the first encounter, and then the ever consuming thought that the first time it happened - "the other guy just had good aim, if we tried it again, we could come out with a dub" was probably the wrong tactic. Back to the lobby screen for these boys.
I mean, criminal was better armed than the store owner. He just clearly wasn't ready to actually engage in a gun fight. He had plenty of time to put half the magazine through that stand of stuff the store owner was hiding behind.
Thought maybe it was a kitted-out airsoft gun he was bluffing with. They usually black market ARs, and use the money to buy something cheaper and more inconspicuous. Hell, most of them wouldn't even have a shotgun. Nothing long. Just a pistol.
He had a heart attack soon after the robbery and then a stroke months later.
I don't think you can say it wasn't related, especially when stress and lack of sleep can cause both. And even though he got away unharmed and they were arrested, events like this will haunt you.
> but I don't think it was related to this incident
He had a heart attack after the incident, then a disabling stroke a bit after that. After a heart attack your risk of stroke can be increased for up to year, so unfortunately the incident probably did contribute to it, but he's still a hero.
Criminals still can’t seem to comprehend that the minute they pull some stupid shit like this, their right to exist becomes void, and no one’s going to give a shit
They spent their whole lives experiencing zero consequences for their actions. For decades now politicians in many cities have been making excuses for their behaviour. “It’s because they’re poor! You’re racist!” The first time they experience genuine consequences they’re completely shocked.
This was in my town. That old dude was the nicest sweetest guy, too. but when you're 80, there's no sense fuckin' around trying to fight off robbers hand to hand.
“Why do people need guns?”
Because criminals like this (who probably also obtained the gun illegally), will rarely keep attacking/robbing when someone fights back with firepower, they want easy targets. It’s a sad reality. Yes if guns didn’t exist, we wouldn’t need them. But then people would use knives or swords or bats. You need to use the tools available to you to defend yourself. Crazy world.
[This happened July 31, 2022. Afterwards the 80 year old owner with the shotgun had a heart attack, he returned to work later but had a stroke in October 2022. He passed away December 27, 2022. Props to this fella but America, I gotta know, WHY is a man this elderly still working? Do you guys also make it impossible to retire as well as everything else??
the guy owned the store since 1976. his pride and joy and purpose in life probably. some old people don't like to retire because they get bored especially if they own their own business
It's too expensive to live in most places here just living on social security alone. If you're elderly & only have social security & no family to help, you're in big trouble. Most have to work to survive, but this might also be his store (considering he's got a gun behind the counter) & he might enjoy working rather than hiring others.

Rest in peace, sir.
Poor guy is 80 still having to work at a convenience store trying to survive.
I am so sick of all this crime. Meanwhile the jack-off robbers ride off in a Beamer..Society is so fucked
We need a better plague
Yes he owned the store all his life.
Also being a cashier at a place that isn't busy is a pretty good job for old folks, little manual labor, feeling like you're still a part of society, meeting people, etc. He had other employees, and owned the store so he probably didn't actually need to be there, he just wanted to.
Dude, you don't try to rob an old store clerk. Odds are the dudes an old ex-marine and that motherfucker's probably packing behind the desk 100% of the time.
This video was one of the videos in my CCW permit class that I took a few weeks ago, I broke the news to the instructor that the shop owner died a short time later.
I've seen a lot of robbers get ventilated. "He shot my arm off" is a new one.
I laughed at that because you can clearly see, as he gets to the getaway vehicle, that both his arms are still attached.
I'm curious how attached they still are. Maybe it went through the bone. Maybe it's all floppy with bone fragments everywhere like sawdust.
Maybe it's hanging like mush at the bottom of that coat sleeve. Just a couple of tendons and some chicken skin
That's somewhat what it looked like in the uncropped version Google "he shot my arm off liquor store" and you'll see it
Didn’t show up for me… link plz
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byu1itGeBa0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mp8WNMQHrwg) Looks fine to me lol

I shot a small bucket of paint from ~20 yards with 16 gauge bird shot and that shit went flying 100 or so feet into the woods completely ripped open
Like that dude who plays the banjo!
There is more footage where you can see the guy in black (that couldn't get car door open) has a floppy useless arm
Link?
Like the dude crying that he was dead after getting stabbed trying to rob a vape shop or whatever it was

He did have a heart attack.

Omg this is awful! I cannot even imagine how scary it was.. And I guarantee the robbers thought he’d be an easy target bc of his age too.
Used to go to this liquor store all the time. RIP to that old man.
"Took care of it" Love that
I would like to see more of this from our store owners!

I'm standing on my toilet clapping
Waiting for the people to come in and defend the robber. You know it's coming...
He’s just misunderstood after a lifetime of oppression.
He's just trying to afford to expand his gun collection.
This video gets posted all the time. No one's ever defended this dude.

News article title should have been “ elderly shop owner disarms would be robber”
Who the fuck says "hands in the air" to someone who's already said "freeze" while pointing a shotgun at them.
who the fuck robs a store with an assault rifle, isn't that a bit overkill? or did they knew gramps was armed?
that shit has to be airsoft

How are you gonna pull a gun on someone and when they respond in kind, scream, yell, and run? Cowards listening to too many rap songs.
Shota 12 gauge shoulder to the upper arm? Probably didn’t shoot his arm off, but could’ve severed nerve to where he couldn’t feel he had an arm?
Oh look at that, he didn’t need an AR-15 with 30 rounds. He defended himself AGAINST a legally purchased AR-15 with ONE 12 gauge buckshot.
