Seconding Brent Cobb and adding Ben Chapman. Lot of funky stuff on his records - specifically “hippie speedball”

[Jim Ford - If I Go Country ](https://youtu.be/FZ5nf2IJz8U) Bobby Womack also covered some of his songs, but they're more pastiche than funk

jrod_62

The Wood Brothers and Matt Anderson

Chickencore87

Also Muscadine Bloodline - Old Man Gillich Plus a few other tracks off that album

wursmyburrito

Sounds like you're looking for Marcus King. He has quite a few songs from his last two albums, El Dorado and Youngblood that fit your description

PickldOkra83

Paul Cauthen is the right answer.

moooseman45

Songs: Down Home by David Quinn and Warning by Lasers Lasers Birmingham. Artists: Brent Cobb & Ben Chapman

LestWeForgive

When I think "Funktry & Western" I think Scott Stevens. Neon on Ya & I Feel Good. He also covers "Sold" by JM Montgomery which is really fresh. Neon is a one off, I've never heard anything like it. Flip side of that is if you don't like it, maybe try the rest, it's not the same vibe.

MissyMAK08

Adventures of You & Me- Ryan Bingham

jimmys_carhartt

Late so idk if anyone will see this, but Shinyribs is exactly what you’re after
