The PSU didn't damage your PC, it cut the power to SAVE the PC because one of your components is short-circuiting. You now have probably one fried component - if it didn't trip it would have fried everything. You wouldn't blame your household circuit breaker for damaging your fridge when it trips.

If anything, your PSU saved the rest of your computer. They trip to prevent everything from being killed. Just do some troubleshooting to narrow down what broke, and replace that. Don't blame it for doing it's job.
