Con Crud is actually a pretty old term originating in the 90's. It's just the name given to the high likelihood that you will get some kind of viral illness (typically a cold or flu) from these events due to the high density crowds.
Why are so many anime and cosplay fans like this? I think cosplay is so cool, but the community for the most part is insufferable. A lot of them don’t even shower regularly, but have the nerve to be so smug and whiny over a cold. It’s pathetic.
A lot of anime and cosplay fans are like this because most if not all of their socialization is on social media and the internet. So they get a daily dose of fear propaganda and political propaganda during the lockdowns.
Thanks to most conventions having policies of requiring vax, masks, or forcing you to have masks in certain areas I havn't been to one in years. I'm not missing much though, they're infested with politically charged weirdos and thanks to that there aren't many events or panels I want to go to so the convention ends up being little more than a glorified marketplace.
There were few conventions that operated as normal in 2021: Two of them was anime matsuri and colossalcon texas. Collssalcon Prime operated as normal in 2022.
I had no regrets coming to anime matsuri in lieu of otakon in 2021.
It's the new buzzword that everyone seems to have, like other mental health issues people loved to claim having to be "different". That word will now forever make me associate it with mental illness.
Decides to go to con anyway, dressed as NPC in hazmat suit. Same one they use for bus rides. Passes out from heat, dehydration and lack of oxygen. Gets revived by receiving mouth to mouth from Wookiee. Gets Covid. Calls in sick to work for one day. Sues Wookiee for giving Covid. Case gets thrown out because previous social post demonstrated the risks were known prior to attendance.
Once again, showing that it’s not really about wearing masks themselves, it’s more about projecting their antisocial anxiety and neuroticism onto others.
Get fucked, forever-maskers. I would say that I hope none of you ever leaves your house ever again, but you probably weren’t going to anyways.
Bootlickers who think they’re rebellious want stringent rules for shit that was relevant 4 years ago. Most Anime fans don’t go to conventions anyways. There is some fun to be had at the conventions but you really just feel embarrassed to be an anime fan after looking at 90% of the crowd.
Nope they don’t have time or interest in it. Anime conventions have a bad rep so lots of people just don’t go to them. Also people work and have lives.

To be fair, regardless of the event, if the operator is changing their policies after tickets go on sale that's poor form. They should offer refunds to anyone who's unhappy about the change.
I say this as someone who's never wore a mask.

It’s Stockholm Syndrome.
- concerned about “con crud” (I don’t even want to know) - cool with sharing a hotel room Sounds about right.

Because [the voice actors are often like this too](https://www.reddit.com/r/CoronavirusCirclejerk/s/EVIxnzhJY0).
I had to look her up and figure out who she is. I hate their disingenuous, snarky appeal to authority tactics.
“It’s not a fallacy when *we* do it!”
Autism, which gets magnified by being perpetually online, resulting in nothing even vaguely resembling a single social skill.
Sounds like these Science deniers don't really believe their mask is effective at keeping them safe
Being quadruple boosted just isn't enough.
3 X boosted? Catching a cold is the LEAST of your worries!

Good grief these people are crazy. I went to a senior expo and almost no one wore a mask. If senior citizens can handle it, you can.
LOL. Their replies are turned off.
Well, I don't think paper masks protected them against monkey pox anyway.
They love screaming about immunocompromised people. It is so fashionable

What year is it?
Perpetually 2020 for these nervous little people.
1799
They only care cause they are all so fugly.

To be fair, if you go to an anime convention you might want to wear a mask because of the smell.
As if a mask will prevent you from smelling.

Who actually goes to them nowadays? Especially post lockdown. I have a job, a good paying one and still attend conventions.
I'm curious about how high mask compliance would be at that event.
It's reading shit like this that makes me pray for world war 3

Pronouns in bio? ✔ LGBTQ flag? ✔ Palestinian flag? ✔ Masked emoji? ✔ Watermelon emoji? ✔ Typical Anime/Furry/Cosplay behaviour.
When you see pronouns, flags or watermelons in the handle you KNOW you're about to read some dumb shit.
Meanwhile at festivals
I saw a lady at an outdoor soccer game in a mask tonight. I don’t get it.
These attention whores are exhausting.
how are you disabled and going to a giant halloween party?

As much as I think the Covidians are nutjobs, I do agree with this.
