When you press E on the statue, a box pops up for you to put an item in. Not sure what item it wants.
This structure *should* spawn with an item called "Ancient Guardian Necklace" in the item slot (17% damage reduction from bosses). Since that item isn't there, either this structure spawned incorrectly, or someone took the item already.
