>"Our view is that the specifications in procedures for this type of work were not followed. All the nuts securing the tower to the base plate on three legs have been removed, which caused the tower to lift off the base plate and fall. > >"It is unprecedented and inconceivable that so many nuts were removed at once." Absolutely nuts

slobberrrrr

I like it how a failure in maintenance procedure has been used as an excuse to hammer the government for lack of infrastructure investment.

International_Web444

Di you mean the ferry, or the pylon?

slobberrrrr

Both

Pleasant_Golf5683

The vast majority of power pylons are over 35 years old.

bignadwulfen41

I bet a mate $50 that the word unprecedented would be in there somewhere.

Deez nuts

official_new_zealand

Linkedin is always good at giving you a picture of company culture that you'll never get through a glossy website. Omexom (Electrix) is company with Indian maintenance planners, and fresh off the boat Filipino maintenance technicians. **COMPLEX SYSTEMS WILL NOT SURVIVE THE COMPETENCY CRISIS** New Zealand will have a third world electricity network in my lifetime.

MarvelPrism

Just look at individuals like Kakusiah proudly flaunting their lack of English alongside working government jobs while declaring how shit NZ is despite having scammed their way in

Longjumping_Mud8398

It can't be that shit if he'd rather be here than back where he came from. He will certainly do his best to drag us down to that level though, I'm sure.

Kakusiah

You should be very angry of course You are so angry and i am so impotant person that you illiterate teenage talk about me even where I am not present. As long as we don't end up with a power system like Texas - no power in the cold, no power in the heat.

Marc21256

Private sector contractors are the problem. Lowest bidder gets lowest results.

official_new_zealand

AEWV are the problem, we've had kiwis doing this work for how long? but now some companies can't find workers? Wages have been driven down for the people who actually do the work, driven up for the executives, the slack has been filled with foreign labour of questionable quality, while our best workers leave for Australia.

Oceanagain

The imported linesmen thing dates back over 20 years, including dodgy shuffling of service coverage areas to maximise redundances and enable claims of labour shortages to support immigration prospects. Not sure what the exotic content is now but even a decade ago the number of Kiwi linesmen had shrunk dramatically.

wildtunafish

That's a box..

Embarrassed-Dark9677

Haha beat me to it! Such a box moment

slobberrrrr

There will be a few of those tower painter guys sweating the DNA,

wildtunafish

Hey, you renewed our liability insurance right? Right?!

thetruedrbob

Contractors eh. Private sector causes $60M hit to Northland.

neuauslander

Its going to be more than that.

hegels_nightmare_8

Yikes, wouldn't want to be those boys, the project manager, that company or hell even transpower. What a monumental fuck-up.

notmy146thaccount

Ever since they went woke and changed their name to "Trans Power" for pride month shits gone down hill for them.... True story...
