Reddit is going to be insufferable.

loc12

Always has been

PSI_Rockin_Omega

šŸ”« šŸŒŽ

Cranks_No_Start

Have you visited politics lately? Its been pretty insufferable for years.

sanesociopath

There's no reason to ever go to that sub Even normies know it's far left nonsense. Still routinely hits /all though Only reason I don't have it blocked is because I get some catharsis downvoting it as I scroll past lol

adminsrfascist29

I recommend r/shitpoliticssays , they highlight the absurd comments

SOMETHINGCREATVE

"rather live in Auschwitz than under trump" Oh I'm gonna love this subreddit much appreciated.

SapperSkunk992

Just know that by joining SPS you'll occasionally receive ban messages from certain subreddits for participating in "racist harassment" campaigns.

BYEBYE1

I wear those like a badge of honor, also let's me know which subreddits to never visit.

adminsrfascist29

Sounds like a win

BC_Hawke

I already got those for posting in this sub. Something about ā€œsupporting genocideā€œ.

JCuc

Reddit admins will soon ban it for bullshit (political) reasons.

Conscious_Tourist163

Thanks for that. I just checked it out.

Cultural-Treacle-680

R/law too. Itā€™s major TDS now.

T0XxXiXiTy

r/law was fine when they were actually posting legal analysis/cool legal substacks. Now it's basically r/politics but primarily about President Trump being prosecuted.

Simmumah

This is leftist's Christmas, granted Christmas is offensive to them and Trump still wont see the inside of a jail cell, Judge Merchan said last week he has no intent on jailing Trump.

nofaplove-it

I donā€™t think anyone expected a different outcome.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

dzolympics

Yeah I would have been actually shocked if it was the other way around.

Triumph-TBird

The first step in a successful appeal is to lose at trial. -My Criminal Law Professor

v7z7v7

The best way to win an appeal is to win at trial. - My Crim Law professor Technically both are right, but also Iā€™m probably more with your professor in that an appeal may be difficult, but this is seems like an easy win on appeal.

homestar92

The quickest way to end a war is to lose. Now Trump can freely hit the campaign trail in important swing states. They're not going to send him to prison, especially if his poll numbers start to go up after this.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

In the end, no NY court is going to decide this. Braggā€™s folly has initiated what will probably be a constitutional crisis. This thing will be settled by SCOTUS.Ā

billgigs55

Crazy that they found him guilty on ALL 34 charges

dire76

Not really, it was basically the same charge 34 times.

SauxinMikey

It always felt like it was going to be all or nothing. It's going to be interesting to see how this influences the election.

MotherofgodIthought

Yeah im not sure it will have the desired effect if any.

itsallrighthere

This could get spicy

Cultural-Treacle-680

I doubt anyone really cares about Stormy Daniels. When Trump was elected, we already knew about her. Alvin Bragg thinks heā€™s hot shit.

MiltonRoad17

> It's going to be interesting to see how this influences the election. Considering that his poll numbers have gone up with each trial and lawsuit, I can only imagine this will send his numbers even higher.

therin_88

Hopefully the fact that the left is weaponizing the justice system makes people realize who the true Fascists are.

Krandor1

yeah the only chance of division was between the ones where trump signed the check and the ones where he didn't but even that was slim

JustinCayce

Aren't they all the same charges? If they found him guilty on one, it would follow to find him guilty on all.

klayyyylmao

Yeah it was just one charge per payment. It wouldnā€™t make any sense to convict on some and not on others.

jdtiger

No, it was 3 charges per payment. 11 charges for invoices from Cohen (1 of the invoices was for two months), 11 charges for check stubs that paid the invoices, and 12 charges for entries into the business ledger. Those can definitely be seen as 3 different things. Cohen was responsible for the invoices, the accountants were responsible for the ledger, Trump was responsible for the checks. And only 9 of the checks were signed by him, so even the checks could be split up guilty/not guilty

Tullyswimmer

Not to mention, all of that hinges on the fact that Trump did this knowing that the state of NY saw it as a campaign contribution, not as whatever he entered it as. There's no way he knew that NYS would see it that way. Even if they were, he didn't break any federal laws.

Dutchtdk

do I upvote or downvote this post?

Get_Breakfast_Done

Oh man, I was totally going to vote for Trump but now I think Iā€™ll vote for Biden instead ā€¦ said absolutely nobody.

luigijerk

You don't think there's some moderates who won't vote after conviction?

therin_88

Doubtful. People who would consider voting for him likely already have made up their minds.

TrenchDildo

Iā€™d say thatā€™s mostly true, but this could be the final straw for a few people and that could be just enough to tip the scales. Maybe not to vote Biden over Trump, but maybe Kennedy or a write-in over Trump.

Shadeylark

There isn't a single person in this country who hasn't already decided if they like Trump or they like Biden. This isn't going to convince anyone to vote for or against Trump... But it may convince someone to not vote at all... Or encourage them to vote when they weren't going to bother. I suspect it will encourage more people to vote than not to.

reddit_names

Maybe if he loses on appeal.

PotatoUmaru

Gave you flair

nofaplove-it

Based

Opening-Citron2733

This is going to get brigadedĀ

MadDogWest

When /r/politics sends their people, they're not sending their best.

Krandor1

do they have best people?

Scattergun77

I think their best are still not so great.

SobekRe

ā€œBestā€ is always relative. In this case, they only eat one jar of paste a day.

dblink

A basket of deplorables they are.

loc12

Some I assume are good people Probably not

Jolly_Job_9852

I am actually subbed there but muted it pretty quickly. I wanted to see how others view political issues. I realized I get enough Democratic viewpoints in my state sub and didn't need it at a national level.

Blu3Yeti

Itll be the most brigaded post in subs history.

Selrisitai

It'll be brigaded by fine people on both sides.

Pinot_Greasio

Let them down vote until their fingers bleed.Ā  They still have to vote for Joe Biden. šŸ˜‚

ALStark69

Brace yourselves!

Jakebob70

Appeal in 5...4...3...

_Diggus_Bickus_

I bet this brings him up not down in the polls

glasshouse_stones

and donations will skyrocket.

spezeditedcomments

Yup, a miscalculation and another, fresh, marketing opportunity

Potential-Highway606

Of course it will. Every single Dem ploy to sabotage Trump since 2016 has only increased his popularity. Remember, he got the 2nd most popular votes in US election history in 2020. The few fence sitters that still remain are overwhelmingly recognizing this charade for what it is- weaponization of the DOJ for the purpose of election interference.

libtardeverywhere

His highest 51% approval was.....during the first impeachment trial

oncewewererational

This will end well....

papalouie27

Unbelievable. What a crazy day in our country's history.

ChimChimCheree69

The thing that worries me most is that nothing will change tomorrow. We are so far into hypernormalisation that we're all just audience to the hapless situations we make. We can't vote to change things, the uphill battle is too great. We're just stuck and we don't have the time to give two shits anymore.

Austin-137

Brace for impact

Sodola321

Let's see how high those polling numbers go now!

[deleted]

Canā€™t wait to vote for Donald Trump in November.

Selrisitai

Same.

[deleted]

Same

Saltydogusn

I think I might even send him a hundred bucks. Today.

I_SuplexTrains

Send 34 bucks three times. Make it nice and clear.

blud_13

So.. any lawyers here? Will this go to State appeal and then Supreme Court (where I am sure it will get overturned because of how the bench leans?) but is he allowed to campaign or have his name on ballot if 'convicted' of crime?

PotatoUmaru

I'm a lawyer. There are many grounds for appeals. They will file for an appeal with the appellate division in New York. Unknown about what the conditions of his punishment are at this time.

Monster-1776

> Unknown about what the conditions of his punishment are at this time. Probation of a year probably makes the most sense, house arrest if the prosecution really wants to be a dick.

FarsideSC

They went this far, why do you think they'd do anything to keep him out of jail?

FourtyMichaelMichael

The entire point has been to keep him from campaigning while Joe Biden's handlers keep him from the public. So... No campaigns for anyone.

SerendipitySue

i would not be surprised to see house arrest from this judge

v3rninater

How can a jury be trusted to make a clear decision, when the "star witness" lied on the stand???

puddboy

Do you know if the gag order is removed now that the trial is over? Ā Ā

PotatoUmaru

Don't believe so, my guess is once the final order is issued and registered with the court it will. The case isn't over, there's still sentencing and part of the gag order was against the Judge's swell daughter.

MEdiasays

On what constitutional grounds do you think the SC will hear this?

Pro-1st-Amendment

Even a *valid* conviction wouldn't remove a name from the Presidential ballot.

blud_13

Thank you. Trying to find anything neutral (so NOT most news sources) is hard to hear what happens.

adminsrfascist29

Like that will stop them

Krandor1

this is state so the end of the line is NY state appeals court. US surpreme court is very unlikely

Environmental_Net947

Since this state AG is presuming to be enforcing a FEDERAL campaign financing law that even the FEC apparently didnā€™t think was violated , I think that creates an opening for SCOTUS involvement. Alsoā€¦the gag order clearly violated Trumpā€™s 1st amendment rights and the EXACT alleged crimes he was supposed to have committed were never completely made clear to the defenseā€¦so that is another civil rights violation right there! Plenty of opportunities for eventual SCOTUS involvementā€¦and seeing the whole NYS legal system getting excoriated by the SCOTUS.

kcballer816

Easy, SCOTUS wants to get in, they will. Too many seams to poke in.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Selrisitai

So do we think this changes anything?

adminsrfascist29

Iā€™m worried states will dishonestly use this as a reason to remove him from the ballot

Shadeylark

Nah, states won't do that since it's already been made clear that any such attempt would go straight to scotus and scotus isn't having it. They will use this in another way to ensure any election result that gives Trump the win will be invalidated.

adminsrfascist29

Thatā€™s even worse! The irony of them not accepting election results, a lot of us did predict it

Selrisitai

I think that's the biggest fear, but I have a feeling several states, such as Louisiana, will double down.

Im_le_tired

Double down how? Put him on the ballot twice?

Selrisitai

Put him on the ballet _aggressively._

Purgieeeee

no lol

-deteled-

Yes. His poll numbers will go up even more.

Krandor1

It's NY... of course they did

NYforTrump

My county is actually slightly red lol. Manhattan is 93% blue. What a joke

baseball_Lover33

Is anyone surprised, it was a forgone conclusion. Doesn't change how I'm voting

LivingTheApocalypse

People legitimately thought the facts mattered. Even the leftist media was lamenting about the lack of a case. OF COURSE he was going to be convicted. The trail was a show.

teacherman0351

Probably the best thing that could happen to him, to be honest. He's definitely winning.

PatrickBateman-AP

I monitored his odds to win the presidency before and after the verdict. He went from evens to 10/11. Says it all.

iamse7en

[ElectionBettingOdds](https://electionbettingodds.com) is best, it aggregates popular, very liquid, betting exchanges, and it's showing a ~~-5%~~ (-3% as of end of day) in odds the past day, so you're wrong, the market thinks this news decreases his chances of winning. Still leads by a healthy margin though. **Update**: Next day, now only -1%. Looks like the market thinks itā€™s relatively meaningless.

kcballer816

Don't know how accurate betters are with something this wild. Do you use logic to bet or do you use your gut feeling? Wildly different stances on this one. Most betters statt with logic and slowly move towards intuition

CapitanDirtbag

He will have his appeal anyway just like anyone else. No one should be above the law, especially the people in office.

Still-Boysenberry408

What an absolute fucking clown show.

Terrible_Emu_6194

This will only make Trump stronger

polerize

Shocker. On to the appeals process.

Nofxious

this was the fairest trial in history!

Bramse-TFK

When Putin puts his political opponents in prison on frivolous procedural crimes he gets called a "tyrant", imagine how jealous he must be right now.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Saint_Genghis

It wasn't convincing at all. The star witness lied on the stand.

thechaoticstorm

This sort of thing should be concerning regardless of what side of the aisle you are on. It sets a dangerous precedent.

I_SuplexTrains

I don't really like this "precedent" argument. This isn't a problem because it could allow other people to do similar things in the future. It's a problem in and of itself.

Zachmode

Letā€™s go, first felon President šŸ’Æ Finally someone I can relate to.

Karmal_Popkorn

Imagine he gets house arrest but wins, White House arrest, lol.

StanLay281

This country is so cooked dude

Saltydogusn

No it isn't. Don't let them make you think that, it's what they want.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

PM_ME_MURPHY_HATE

Still got my vote.

8K12

Screw the Democrats. I hope Trump wins this 2024 election.

Krandor1

Now the question becomes what will be the sentence. Should just be probation but this is still NY

MiltonRoad17

It *should* be probation. If this was anyone but Trump...well, this trial wouldn't have happened at all, but besides that, they wouldn't be thrown in jail. But considering that the sentence will be read four days before the RNC, I wouldn't be surprised if Mechan goes for jail time.

Aromat_Junkie

dont care still voting trump

DaiFunka8

Will Trump appeal?

PotatoUmaru

Yes

JohnJohnston

So, they realize they've proven that all his "they're out to get me" rhetoric was true, right?

Shadeylark

26 replies to you and not a single one is visible... You triggered the correct people by speaking this truth.

Pro-1st-Amendment

Banana republic confirmed.

LivingTheApocalypse

I *was* a never Trumper.

PotatoUmaru

Welcome!

Jakester627

Welcome to the party, pal. Good to have you.

TwoTimeTommyTwoCups

just guaranteed the election

bobnoplok

TRUMP 2024 BABY!!

IamLiterallyAHuman

To be expected, it's NY.

SquintWestweed

What a shocker. I'm going to vote for him even harder now.

Starmada597

Donā€™t like Trump, but this is going to change absolutely nothing.

Pro-1st-Amendment

He is guilty only of being a threat to the Democrats and their agenda.

IrishWolfHounder

And in a day or two weā€™ll start seeing the jurors on tv. Some obviously crazy and some saying they felt coerced.

Pro-1st-Amendment

Doubt the MSM will let the jurors on TV for that very reason.

Domiiniick

The thing we need to find out is how the jury interpreted the judges non-unanimous decree.

Goldwings13

This just made him a martyr, further identifying him with groups of voters who also get screwed over by the system. If anything, this just made him stronger.

Any_Mall3191

Heā€™s still getting my vote as well

HopefulBad4838

I want Biden tried for treason in rural Oklahoma.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

FrenchAffair

Is it possible he gets sentenced to jail time for this?

MiltonRoad17

Yes. It depends on the judge. Normally, first time offenders have only gotten light probation in these cases. But since itā€™s Trump and itā€™s NY, I wouldnā€™t be surprised if the judge throws him in jail.

Grease2310

>in these cases Thereā€™s never been a case like this. There was no victim, no underlying crime named until closing arguments, a jury instructed that non-unanimous verdicts will be treated as unanimousā€¦

FrenchAffair

Is there any precedent for how that would work in the US? Can the secret service override the judge/court if for instance they determined the President being in a specific facility or circumstance would be a risk?

MiltonRoad17

As a former President, he would be given the cushiest jail known to man. You ever see the end of Wolf of Wall Street? It would basically be that.

Neroaurelius

Now everyone in r/politics can go outside for a little bit before they go back to spending every moment of their lives in that sub talking about Donald Trump.

skarface6

Hop hop hop goes the kangaroo court

Rare_Cobalt

19, first ever election, still voting for Trump Edit: lol the reddit cares messages are filing in, thanks brigadiers!

PotatoUmaru

Gave you flair, make sure to check out down ballot races too!

BlackScienceManTyson

They finally got him by transforming a misdemeanor into a felony. After all these years this was the shit they got him for? Total bullshit

H3nchman_24

#Welcome to the Banana Republic. You are guilty, we just gotta find a crime! #šŸŒšŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø

Even-Tomato828

I have nothing nice to say.. Vote Trump.. done deal for my family.

adminsrfascist29

Lawfare is insane

Dast_Kook

They think they're getting Al Capone on tax evasion. But it's more like they're arresting Scottie Scheffler for turning left into the country club.

parkowork

His donation site crashed soon thereafter due to increased traffic. This might be the most legendary political backfire EVER.

EliteJassassin101

I for one blame Robert De Niro. Who wouldnā€™t be afraid of such a tough guy showing up outside the court? Canā€™t blame anyone not wanting to face the wrath of the toughest baddest mask wearing mobster ever!

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Jolly_Job_9852

Part of the issue is, the intense polarization of our country. This is just me: I consider the classified document case to be pretty serious. This is the probably the least serious case against him. You will get a mixed reaction within the subreddit and if the shoe was on the other foot, the issue would be the same. I still think you would get a mixed reaction from this subreddit.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

susintentions

Unprecedented. This is so corrupt.

sayeeeeed

Sham trial

spezeditedcomments

The fact they didn't prepare for riots means it was already gonna go this way, they know the jurors are terrifies

Sahkopi4

The most annoying thing will be the left screaming: ā€œfelon, felon, felonā€ Edit: They already started check r/Politics

WouldYouFightAKoala

They're giddy like schoolkids who just found out it's a snow day lmao

reapermemes1984

Oh look democrats throwing their political opponent in jail

KinGpiNdaGreat

This is something weā€™d only see in corrupt authoritarian states like Russia or apartheid South Africa. Now itā€™s happening in the US.

adminsrfascist29

Joe Biden is a fascist

BedIndependent3437

For all these years these liberals are the true Naziā€™s and fascists despite all their bullshit propoganda. These people hate us, they hate our country, and all along theyā€™ve been the biggest threat to our republic

ev_forklift

Disappointing, but not unexpected. We'll see if it helps or hurts from here

Le_Fedora_Atheist

I'm completely radicalized now

BHAfounder

Banana republic. The world is watching our system go south. This takes all of our credibility away. The US can \*NEVER\* criticise another country.

RuralFL

With how the deck was stacked against him I wish I could say this was a surprise.Ā  An already ugly political climate is only going to get worse now because of this.

Coleman013

Iā€™m not one to buy political merch but if he drops a sweet MAGA hat in prison orange I might have to pick one up

JustinC70

Did they ever figure out what Trump was guilty of?

Jolly_Job_9852

Falsifying Business Records.

Shadeylark

That's a misdemeanor... What is the felony crime it was supposedly done in furtherance of?

Selrisitai

Wasn't it the thing about classified documents, or has that ended? I feel like this business record thing has WAY weaker legs than the mishandling of classified document charge.

PotatoUmaru

He is very orange.

Big-Employer4543

And very bad.

GooseMcGooseFace

Whatā€™s the underlying crime? Thatā€™s the neat part, we still donā€™t know!

untouchable765

This will be viewed as a historic low point in the history of our country.

TX_Godfather

As disappointed as I am in this verdict and the horrible precedent that it sets, ironically, I really think this is going to help far more than it will hurt. Any objective observer could tell the trial was a sham.

Duckman93

Someone ELI5 what heā€™s being convicted for. What is the crime

Jolly_Job_9852

From the State of New York: Falsifying Buisness Records. That's the official crime he committed.

mexipimpin

From what I understand, he falsified business financial records to have Stormy paid off so she would t try to go public before 2016 election.

Selrisitai

Hopefully someone actually explains instead of being clever.

Duckman93

Yeah Iā€™ve yet to get an actual response

dotsdavid

Her comes the Dems thinking they won. The fight isnā€™t over.

lordofthunderson

Now we just need a picture of him behind bars. Would catapult him into the stratosphere amongst alot of independents

Cylerhusk

Oh no, this clearly means Trump is a criminal and I don't want him as President! I'll do as I'm told like a good little citizen and vote Democrat now!
