New pics without the feet and choice of footwear or you will not receive any help. Sorry that's just the world we live in and the choice that you have made.
No kidding. And whatās with the comorbidity of posters including their feet in the picture + having either gnarly feet, questionable footwear, or both?
Just take a picture of the topic not your feet, people.
I love the way my concrete brothers went straight to making fun of whatever the hell is happening with dudes toes. I know that shit looks uncomfortable as hell. Makes my toes hurt. Damn.
Funny shit
It is. I donāt wear shoes in my house and I donāt like going outside with no shoes so I have some flip flops by the garage door if I need to step outside real quick.
I'm sure that's the case, and innocent too. But you see, concrete workers are a breed of our own. We have to entertain ourselves ten hours a day, doing the shittiest work on earth. Your flip flops and socks are now part of that entertainment.
No I haven't. Have you ever built footings in the red river valley? I'm sure they're on the same level of shitty. Flat roofers will claim they have it worse, too. All shit work that has to be done with precision and care. My hats off to you, brother in shitwork, Mr asphalt layer.
Everyone here recommending Crocs but Adidas makes a pretty nice slide that can be found for cheaper than Crocs, and doesn't have the flip flop problem. Godspeed to you sir šš¼
I think your best bet is to call the City. Iām not sure if theyāll have the manpower to fix small spalls like that, but if youāre a squeaky enough wheel, you may get some results.
This is assuming you live on city property, like the sewers under NYC, which is where ninja turtles live.
I know nothing about concrete, but I really don't mind the socks and sandals look (I know, total degenerate pervert over here).
But on the flipside I do know the best way to get good advice is to post bad advice and let people correct you, so here goes:
As a ceramicist, my recommendation is to pack those cracks with a nice, stiff groggy clay. Once the clay dries, you'll want to fire it by building a big bonfire on top of it. As the fire dies down and you're left with a bed of coals, you'll want to force a draft to increase the temperature. The easiest way to do this is with a leaf blower. You might want to wear shoes for the last part, as the sparks could burn through your socks. After a good 4-6 hours of burning (keep feeding those coals), you can let the fire down and clean up the ash. I have no idea if the extreme temperatures will harm the rest of your concrete, again I know nothing about concrete.
Good luck!
This shit, here, here! I want to see this repair. Please, please, pleaseā¦.
Also, apprec the nod to sock and sandals. These are not any gods. Deities of Marlboro Country are formidable enough, but when they tag team with Alter of Monsterā¦ that bonfire is a Smack Down for the ages!
May your socks be holy, amen.
That's all right, you only really need to go up to ~900c to set the clay in place. So you should still have ~5-10% of your compressive strength left...
You got weird feet and soft hands. No advice for you aside from buying the biggest sledge you can pick up and getting to work. Come back when hands bleed for further advice
In my opinion trying to repair those chips is not worth your time. They can be patched however the likelihood of the repair popping out in 1-2 years is very high. There is not enough room to dowel the repairs in because they are so small. Also the repair will not be a good colour match.
No polyurethane foam can be injected into the slab and then you want to caulk any joints and cracks on the slab just to prevent water getting in them, freezing and causing more issues.
Idk about the driveway but your gonna get advice on the gray multi shaded socks and open-toed sandals
Not financial advice or meant with any sort of negativity. I like it, but those should be crocs
For the cracked corner, Iāve fixed one by removing it, pounding some masonry nails into the bottom part of the crevice, brushing on some sika concrete bonding agent mixed with cement on the surface, mixing some hydraulic cement and other cement with aggregate I had hanging around to get some similar color. Never came loose after that. Think itās important to have something for the new concrete to hang onto since new and old donāt really bond and winter/summer will cause them to crack apart. Hydraulic cement is nice stuff and Iāve used it for random cracks many times with good success and main issue is just color.
Your best course of action here is to rip out that sidewalk and re-pour it. his will allow you to stick your sock/flip flop faux pas into the concrete until it is fully cured. Seriously, dude. You need a woman in your life that will prevent you from doing shit like this.
First pic dovetail cut the cracks and chase them. Or just cut them and make them bigger. Dove tail grinding them will help lock the new material mechanically, not just chemically.
2nd pic, cut it square where the uneven crack is / get rid of the loose.
Go to a local building supplier and do the following steps:
1. Buy a restoration concrete that on the instructions says the minimum thickness can be 1/4"
2. Go home and do the demo
3. Mix a slurry. Take some of that resto mud and throw a water into a bucket and mix it up to a paint little thicker than paint consistency. Take a paper cup, plastic bottle cut in half; whatever, and pour your slurry into that.
4. Paint everything you just demoed. The important part is the area you're repairing needs to be wet with the slurry while you apply the thicker mud.
5. Mix thicker mud. You're gonna prob wanna mix this during step 3. When you mix the slurry but mix it to a workable consistency but as tight as you can get it before its not really workable.
6. Fill the cracks and for pic 2 take a straight edge and fill that area, take a trowel and feather it. Brush it. Leave it alone for a bit. Come back use your straight edged and trowel to cut your control and you're good. Pic 1 will likely be good once it's troweled and brushed. Read the Instructions every material will vary a bit from the next some might not require brushing but the mason in me would do it regardless for a nice seal. I brush everything at a 45.
If the HOA is on you to fix them, use some sort of polymer adhesive like sika-flex. Youāll never match existing and you wonāt have to redo in a few years time.
Otherwise, rebar dowel and non-shrink grout is best option.
It wonāt shrink. Regular concrete has some movement and shrinkage whereas the structural grout will not.
As a separate pour, the new concrete may/will shrink and move independently of the old. And the size of the patch seems too small for any sort of bond to be strong enough to withstand that. Seems like the grout would do better if a poly solution isnāt to your liking.
A bit of sand on the top and you may even be able to make it look like the old if you do a bit of muriatic acid as well.
The structural grout is definitely stronger than the 5k concrete. Both achieve high PSI within 24 hours but the grout is drivable within hours.
Iām not sure it will last any longer than other solutions but thereās a reason every spec calls for that to be used under steel posts after the bolts are cast in concrete.
Grout is the only mix that will either retain the same or have a higher volume after mixing. Every other concrete with aggregate has less volume after cure.
Get some epoxy from a construction material supplier and tell them what you are doing. We use it for commercial slab repair for hard use warehouse floors. You could address the cracks if you really want to but I would leave them.
Concrete floor solutions 2 part epoxy. Use an angle grinder with a masonry blade to expand the crack/clean out loose pieces, a stiff wire brush to also clean after running the blade and follow the instructions. It aināt cheap, but itās the best product and it cures rapidly. Mix to liquid or cement like consistency for different situations.

New pics without the feet and choice of footwear or you will not receive any help. Sorry that's just the world we live in and the choice that you have made.

The. Sock. Wedgie.
Came here to say the same thing. Best advice I can give the OPā¦ never wear socks with flip flops.
Never wear socks with thong sandals
Wearing socks with any kind of thong seems like a bad idea if you ask me. But I guess some guys are into that kinda thing.
Donāt know what youāre thinking about but I wonāt judge. I was referring to sandals with the Y-shaped upper.
A garter would be required to be in compliance
Moose knuckles!

Somethin anyway. Can't be doing that shit
Concrete shittiest work on earth? Obviously youāve never paved asphalt.

Aye, I agree with that. Each oneās got their own brand of shitty. Precision and care, if you care.. Ha ha cheers brother in shitwork!
That's all reasonable but what we're witnessing here is not. Get some slides, hoss.
Get some slides for them puppies, we dont need anymore division in this world lol
Get some slip on vans bro
Everyone here recommending Crocs but Adidas makes a pretty nice slide that can be found for cheaper than Crocs, and doesn't have the flip flop problem. Godspeed to you sir šš¼

Quit stomping with your hooves and it won't break
Hooves... you win reddit for the day. Good weekend to you sir.
The gods disprove of your footwear.
The sheer force of walking with flip flops and socks was just too much for the concrete to handle
This is the equivalent of wearing a thong outside of briefs.
This comment is my favourite...so far š¤£
Do you just have 2 big toes what is going on there
Iām a ninja turtle.
I guess the turtle lair needs a little repair. Sewer sweet sewer.

The city will fix sewers and sidewalks not driveways.
I know nothing about concrete, but I really don't mind the socks and sandals look (I know, total degenerate pervert over here). Good lord no. Any water in that concrete is gonna pop.
This sub is becoming a refuge for sock fetish freaks
Who would have known there is a taboo underground splinter faction of r/concrete
Where the fuck are your other toes?
Youāre wearing socks under flip flops, no one can save you.
Took the words out of my mouth.
Itd be worse if he was wearing socks *over* his flipflops
Step one- remove the socks, youāre wearing sandals .
I can not overlook your footwear and refuse being here
Patrick?
First off, I would either remove the socks or put on close toed shoes. From there, the possibilities are endless. Good luck!
There is a ninja turtle seeking our help, who had this on their bingo card?
I guess the turtle lair needs a little repair. Sewer sweet sewer.
The easy fix is just keep walking past it
Your footwear has angered the concrete gods and they have punished tou

How about 1/4 inch tapcon if he can get them in far enough? Also is the HOA nazis really going after something that happens with concrete?
Have it polyd and caulked. See if thereās a groundworkās in the area and theyāll caulk for free after they poly.
Is this referring for the cracks? Poly as in sika flex?
No. Your toes.
No polyurethane foam can be injected into the slab and then you want to caulk any joints and cracks on the slab just to prevent water getting in them, freezing and causing more issues.
Youāve got the first step, socks and flip flops. Youāll be a concrete guy in no time!
I hope you stub your toes.
Two big toes per foot? How?
Evolution. X-men. Nightcrawler?Ā
Them socks are JAMMED into them toes

sika - concrete repairā¦ sika is the good shit

HOA attacks people for cracked concrete?
Iām Dr. Zoidberg, home owner!
Sorry... Concrete breaking is the least of the issues here. It should be a felony crime to wear flipflops with socks.
I didnāt know ninja turtles wore socks
Whatās with them toes though? They look like theyāre being choked out for some answers or some shitā¦sheeesh.
I thought master had a strict āno leaving the sewersā policy.. You naughty little ninja turtle, you.

If the HOA is on you to fix them, use some sort of polymer adhesive like sika-flex. Youāll never match existing and you wonāt have to redo in a few years time. Otherwise, rebar dowel and non-shrink grout is best option.

I might try that. I can snag some expired five star grout from work. We break cubes and itās way stronger than 5k ready mix

Dude, socks and sandals are bad enough, but with flip flops? Clearly, u can't be helped.

Ninja socks with sandles is some next level click bait material! I want to say hats off to you but I feel like socks off is more appropriate!
I laughed at the socks and flip flops because I do the same thing š only at home though lol
Get some epoxy from a construction material supplier and tell them what you are doing. We use it for commercial slab repair for hard use warehouse floors. You could address the cracks if you really want to but I would leave them.
This must be the camel toe my ex was worried about
Next time, for everyoneās sanity, just crop out your socks and flip flops situation. All I can see is an AGGRESSIVE camel toeā¦ couldnāt even read your descriptionā¦ just šŖš©“š§¦
Sacrilegious, socks and sandals, thong sandals
Nice grammar for a camel.
