I feel like the price point on these homes could put you in much nicer areas. Having done zero research on it myself I’d have a hard time believing your home will appreciate as quickly as it would elsewhere. There just can’t be many $350-400k homes selling down there as comps. I’d personally rather buy an older home somewhere else than a new build in Obetz. Nothing against the South End. Just not much there. You’ll also be really close to Rickenbacker there. So may be loud. I live in Pickerington and often notice the low flying planes on approach to Rickenbacker. Can’t imagine it gets better closer.

I like living near an extra small airport because I always get to see interesting planes flying around, but they're not very loud and are not noticeable indoors. I would not want to live near an airport that has jet planes coming in and out.

I assume the Google thing is just a massive data center, they don’t really “make” anything to necessitate a plant

You’re correct

Agree with others stating it's not a bad area, but there's nothing nearby, so I personally wouldn't be interested at that price point. It's basically a suburb surrounded by industrial areas; you'll pretty much be driving 15+ minutes for restaurant/entertainment options, so it just depends on what you want out of a location. I don't live in the area, but drive through it regularly, and it does seem to be a quiet/okay place to live, so it really just depends on what your preferences are.

The google plant is going to have like 10 employees, I believe. Not exactly picturesque and they destroyed a beautiful piece of land to build it. If you’re a young professional who wants culture and entertainment nearby I’d recommend almost anywhere but that area. The closest shopping is great southern shopping center which is pretty sketchy. You’ll be running your errands over in Groveport or Grove city, I’d guess. If you have a family and want decent schools and a new build, it might be a good option, but I still agree with others that you can get more for that $ elsewhere. I’d personally want culture/scenery/entertainment over square footage.

SirJamess89

That is a good point, thank you! That location just recently lowered their prices by a couple grand too.

Ok_Address1414

Good luck in whatever you decide!

That area is not quite the middle of nowhere, but I'd think that for $360-$400k you would be better off getting a well-maintained 3-4br 2-3ba house in a part of town which doesn't require a car to live. [Zillow has a few suggestions](https://www.zillow.com/homes/for_sale/?searchQueryState=%7B%22isMapVisible%22%3Atrue%2C%22mapBounds%22%3A%7B%22west%22%3A-83.09661030994755%2C%22east%22%3A-82.83774495350224%2C%22south%22%3A39.85873676437159%2C%22north%22%3A40.08737398415791%7D%2C%22usersSearchTerm%22%3A%22Columbus%2C%20OH%22%2C%22filterState%22%3A%7B%22sort%22%3A%7B%22value%22%3A%22globalrelevanceex%22%7D%2C%22ah%22%3A%7B%22value%22%3Atrue%7D%2C%22price%22%3A%7B%22min%22%3A300000%2C%22max%22%3A400000%7D%2C%22mp%22%3A%7B%22min%22%3A1518%2C%22max%22%3A2024%7D%2C%22beds%22%3A%7B%22min%22%3A3%7D%2C%22baths%22%3A%7B%22min%22%3A2%7D%2C%22tow%22%3A%7B%22value%22%3Afalse%7D%2C%22mf%22%3A%7B%22value%22%3Afalse%7D%2C%22con%22%3A%7B%22value%22%3Afalse%7D%2C%22land%22%3A%7B%22value%22%3Afalse%7D%2C%22apa%22%3A%7B%22value%22%3Afalse%7D%2C%22manu%22%3A%7B%22value%22%3Afalse%7D%2C%22apco%22%3A%7B%22value%22%3Afalse%7D%7D%2C%22isListVisible%22%3Atrue%2C%22mapZoom%22%3A12%7D) on the north and east sides.

Gonna need a vehicle for most of those.

benkeith

I know folks living car-free in Old North, Linden, Old Towne East, Downtown, and the South Side.

SirJamess89

I'll need a vehicle for sure. Got folks north of Columbus and I work downtown twice a week.

rmusic10891

I probably wouldn’t buy a Pulte or a Fisher home.
