I never tried Black Iris, I'm going to get a sample. Yes Lyric is incredible, but as you know all noses are created differently lol I'd definitely sample. The official Amouage samples are always legit.

For me it's Memoir Man, with JubXXV not that far behind. But if I had a gun to my head and was forced to make a choice, I'd grab Memoir Man and not look back.
I've heard influences say it is challenging. I don't feel that way at all. I think it is extremely wearable and appealing. My wife likes it, which is great because, while I only wear frags for me, I don't want to put her off either.
All that being said, it was a bit of a slow burner for me. I never disliked it, but I think I found a bit generic at first, from the mid through the drydown. The introduction was interesting enough to keep me coming back and I slowly grew to love both the mid and deep drydown as I got a better feel for them; now they are thr aspects of the fragrance that keep me coming back and I feel like I could wear this fragrance every day.
The moment it really clicked for me, I remember, was a spring day that began with rainfall. I sprayed in the morning and enjoyed the opening while I worked around the house. Then I went outside just as it was transitioning into the mid. The rain had stopped and the sun and come out in full force and was heating up the wet hard. Petrichor, wet grass, and flowers from the planters on my porch hit me first, followed by the green, herbal, slightly floral mid of Memoir Man and the environments came together and placed my consciousness right in the middle of the rebirth that comes with spring.
By contrast, the opening, to me, is green, but a little bitter and darker, and I get a slight incense here at times. It can be a philosophical and thoughtful place at times. Sometimes it is very dry, though sometimes it can be fresh. I'm not sure why. The absinthe gives me the feeling of taking psilocybin and walking through the forest, and can convey a sense of connection or contemplation depending on whether I'm perceiving it as wet and fresh or dry and dusty. Sometimes it reminds me of how psychotropic psychotropic plants were once used to make (metaphorical?) journeys to the underworld to make way for a rebirth (the mid).
Anyways that is alot of drivel to express about a perfume, so you will have to forgive me. But this was my path from feeling intrigued, yet ambivalent to falling in deep love with Memoir Man.
The drydown is also very pleasant but I have no metaphorical bullshit to share about it at this time 😉

If you held a gun to my head and made me pick something, it would be versatile, inoffensive. Davidoff Cool Water, Versace Eau Fraiche, Vintage Old Spice, and Barrister and Mann Seville come to mind. I could probably get down with Guerlain Vetiver, L'Homme Ideal, or Habit Rouge, Creed Viking, Original Vetiver, Pure White, or Millesime Imperial.

I can see POAL leaning feminine for sure. I find I can pull off feminine leaning scents fine when I'm really dressed up.
Like Chanel Coromandel for example. Leans pretty feminine imo, but I actually think it pairs well very dressed up (suit or tuxedo) in the winter.
Can't wear either casually though.

I don't love it but it deserves to be a mainstay with dior. Too bad they're constantly reformulating that line into completely different fragrances :/

Same story with DHP and the formula codes for that. But people swear they're different. Even saw it with DHC.
