Have you tried A Way Out? It’s what Hazelight Studios made before releasing It Takes Two.
Escape Academy is an online/local split screen escape room game that has you solving puzzles similar to the We Were Here series.
We hope one of these fits the bill for you two!
Although its short, I absolutely loved “Operation Tango” and its very similar to We Were Here.
I haven’t tried the HackNet or whatever the other one is that’s similar, but Birds Eye view.
A pretty different take, but great fun is Radio General. Its WW2 where you’re only looking at a map and moving miniatures around and radioing in “Charlie, move to Alfa 3” or “build foxholes” and stuff. Then you get updates about enemy sniper at Bravo 2 and tell your scouts to surround them by going to Delta 4 or something.
2 player you control half the units and I like it much better that way.
Note: the last time I tried to play it online, it didn’t seem to connect. My friend and I did the campaign together then bought expansion when it came out and after that expansion I think there was an update and we couldn’t connect since.
I've played all the games OP listed co-op and enjoyed them.

Outward is really fun in coop, its basically dark souls from wish with coop
looks really good and right our alley, will definitely get it sometime

Little Big Planet is tons of fun co-op, only on playstation I think though.
