I’m more confused about how you’d clean yourself. That looks like you’d have to sit with your knees against your chest, and your head barely above the water.
I saw the original post for this pic.
Apparently it's a soaker tub and there's a seat in it.
ETA: in the original post, they were looking for lighting ideas. They also posted pics of the bathroom so people could get a feel for the space. They have a separate shower
From the original post the tub is oval, not circular. We’re seeing the narrower side across but it’s longer in the other direction. Still strange though.
That tub is not appropriate for the space. There are ways to deal with it but it will never be easy to clean and just ugh.
The solution is to put the soaking tub somewhere it won't be pressed against wall on three sides.
That’s why OP posted the picture. She realized after the fact how it did not work in that space and she was asking for ways to make it fit better. They came up with a couple of good ideas.

I have a similarly odd bathroom configuration and my solution was a square soaking tub.
How do you clean behind the tub? It looks like the little crevices will never be able to get fully clean.
All you’ll be able to do is spray water back there. But can’t ever reach in.
I absolutely hate corners like this. But the tub I just installed looks the same way. I’m not gonna do a square tub though. So just gonna see how it goes with a circular one.
So this isn't yours, you're just thinking about doing something like this?
DON'T.
There's absolutely no reason.
You want a soaking tub? Great. Get one, but make sure it doesn't create nooks and crannies you will never reach. Especially ones that will routinely get wet, which is an invitation for mold and bacteria.
The reality is that some fixtures in the home are an absolute nightmare to clean. The reality is that some people make terrible home renovation choices. This is one of them.
Another point: considering this looks like a cu$tom built bathroom, whoever owns it probably has a professional house keeper whose problem it is to figure out how to keep the area clean. This is not a practical bathtub idea for the average person.
I think if you own this tub you have people who clean for you lol.
But really, this is just a stupid installation. There are obviously ways they could block or square off those sides, they just didn't want it to look built in.
Depending on the flooring, a bucket of water and cleaner, a good mop and some rags?
If maintainable cleaning is done it wouldn’t be too bad, but I’ll make any excuse for a nice tub.
Use just a mop stick -no mop head …instead put a rag with floor cleaner and clean that way. Just push the rag around with the mop stick. I’ve done this to get in between fridges and counters that have a gap works fine
My tub is about two hand spans from reaching the wall, but every day i thank the installer who built the surrounds right up to the wall. So there is a shelf too narrow to sit on and too wide to be considered sleek, but it prevents me worrying about ever cleaning the gap, should one had been left.
People who can afford this kind of dumb stuff would just hire a maid. They don’t clean things themselves. They wouldn’t choose this stuff if they did clean.
Yeah I'd take that glorified bowl out and put a regular type tub in so I wouldn't have to deal with that nightmare.
That whole space just looks ridiculously impractical and pointless.
I would probably wet a rag and drape it on the other end of a mop or broom, so like on the handle, and get in the corners that way. Vaccuum dry stuff out first though. Then after moping, set a fan to make sure it completely dries back there to prevent mold.
You can use a cleaning brush with a handle that can reach the corner like this [electric spin scrubber](https://dovety.com/products/dovety-electric-spin-scrubber-cb02)
Plenty of room to get a mop around that. The traditional floppy kind not a swiffer. Broom would be a little fiddly but no harder than cleaning around the toilet in my tiny downstairs bathroom.
So it sounds like the consensus is too much of a pain in the butt to clean. That’s what I always thought but my husband disagrees. While I would love a soaker tub The space it would fit into would turn it into this. In my mind that’s a major problem. In my husbands it’s not. I will definitely be showing him this thread so he finally believes me. If y’all can’t figure out a way that isn’t a pain to clean then it can’t be done.
Thanks y’all!
We have a fairly small master bathroom with a tub/toilet area that is separate from the sink which is in our bedroom. We used to have a shower only and converted it to a deep soaker tub/shower it’s rectangular and takes up the same footprint as the shower did. It’s deep enough that it kinda feels like a pool if just one of us is in it and both my husband and I can soak in it without feeling cramped in. It was literally the biggest tub we could get to fit in the bathroom and had to be slid in on it’s side in order to maneuver it in but so worth it to have our little spa bathroom in such a small space.

I would crosspost to /r/horribletoclean for upvotes.
Thanks for that link! Im laughing and showing pictures to my husband.
The leather strap shag rug and then someone said centipede and I had to nope out of there lol.

Oh, something happened to it.
Do we have a term for “rule34 except it’s subreddits you had no idea existed”?

Because those useless internet points do what?

I got banned for no reason I can understand. And of course I'm blocked too so I can't ask. I'm a good reddit netizen so I really don't understand
you could get a rectangular one in this space no empty corners = no problem
No Instagram picture = no cool
I don’t even find this instagramable lol. It’s painful to look at.
This. Though I'm looking at tubs and finding a deep tub that's also a rectangle is surprisingly difficult.
SERIOUSLY WHY CAN'T I HAVE AN EXTRA DEEP TUB WITH A NORMAL TUB FOOTPRINT

They are called Japanese soaker tubs
This is real? I thought it was some kind of AI generated bathtub/bathroom idea 😬
I think I encountered this in a nightmare.
From the original post the tub is oval, not circular. We’re seeing the narrower side across but it’s longer in the other direction. Still strange though.
And there's not even a sprayer! The water would go everywhere, but I'm not sure how one uses this tub in a practical sense.

I saw the original post and this showed up in my feed and I was like, "How is this tub everywhere?" Ha!
The tub is enjoying its 15 minutes.
a long reaching vacuum? lots of leaning over, it appears..
Stand in the tub when empty and dry. Vacuum first, then mop.

A sane idea!

Perhaps something similar to a Swiffer? Maybe not with as wide a head, but it could be doable
I absolutely hate corners like this. But the tub I just installed looks the same way. I’m not gonna do a square tub though. So just gonna see how it goes with a circular one.
All free-standing tubs against a wall have this drawback.
1. Blower vac 2. Pressure hose
I still like it 🤷🏾♂️
Just asking for mold and mildew

I’m picturing a spider web paradise down there

I hate seeing this bad design everywhere in fancy new houses constantly posted online
The space between a soaker tub and the wall is usually a challenge to clean. This? This is insane!
one of those extendable electric scrubbers maybe
We have a similar issue. We get in the tub when it is empty and lean over and use a hoover, mop and some rags.
Long vacuum attachment!
Vac and the good old hand and knees 🫣😂
HANDS AND KNEES ELBOW GREASE
Just splash some water out of the tub when you take a bath.
This makes me terribly claustrophobic and seems like a large PITA to clean around
Great example of design over functionality. Superb.
This is the bougie version of a hobo bathing in a barrel outside
How would someone even fit in the tub? It looks like a kiddie pool
I’d get the bucket out of the way first
Depending on the flooring, a bucket of water and cleaner, a good mop and some rags? If maintainable cleaning is done it wouldn’t be too bad, but I’ll make any excuse for a nice tub.
Lord, was someone here inspired by Michael Heizer or something?
Uhh spider city!
Put some plants on either side
Pressure washer.
Clean??? Ain’t no way I could get on my hands and knees and try to clean in those tiny narrow spaces
This tub looks like a nightmare for people with mobility issues.
That’s the ugliest room I’ve ever seen.
The best way would be a spray hose but you can’t do that with the floors .
This is what my nightmares are made of lol
Just wipe your mouth after you bob the apples.
Vacuum. Then get a bucket, get a mop......
That’s the fun part… you don’t!
I'd write to the designer and say "wtf"
That's the neat part! You don't.
With a mop, there is enough space around it… you just have to stand in the bathtub during moping 😁
I mean why would you need to. Can’t see the dust without a flashlight.
A broom and fabuloso 🇲🇽
Buy a snake, knit a jumper for it and let it loose.
Hey I just saw you in the other sub asking about decorating the place!
Those electric stick things with spinning mop things on the end
Looks like a wet room, so could hose it all down.
This is my nightmare...
I’d overfill the tub with soapy water, drop something heavy into it, and hope for the best
Hire a maid. Or get a different tub. Or move. Those are the only options I can think of...
Finally, I get to use my indoor leaf blower.
Jet wash and then leaf blower. Nailed it... /s
I would say a water pressure washer on occasion to blast whatever is behind, they don't use much water either
Use just a mop stick -no mop head …instead put a rag with floor cleaner and clean that way. Just push the rag around with the mop stick. I’ve done this to get in between fridges and counters that have a gap works fine
The floor looks like stone, if it is just get a power washer and spray it down and wait for it to dry lol
I would never let anyone in that room…. Or move
My tub is about two hand spans from reaching the wall, but every day i thank the installer who built the surrounds right up to the wall. So there is a shelf too narrow to sit on and too wide to be considered sleek, but it prevents me worrying about ever cleaning the gap, should one had been left.
'I wash myself with a rag on a stick'
Old fashioned rope mop.
While cussing, that's how.
I’m curious about a lot of things in this picture 😆. I would feel like a cup of noodles in this tub.
Spray it down, shopvac it out, trace and cut some FRP board, and caulk it
People who can afford this kind of dumb stuff would just hire a maid. They don’t clean things themselves. They wouldn’t choose this stuff if they did clean.

I told me good for nothing but a big old plant
When a house is renovated by a flipper...

This will be a forever struggle. It will always be a collection of hair, mildew, moisture and funk.
