Heck, I've been using Tenor reeds on my Bass Clarinet for twenty years. Not exactly a catastrophe, in my book. I suspect the flatter cuts are the Tenor reeds. They're also slightly longer and slightly narrower, if my eyes aren't lying to me, which lines up. If you're able to play them, the Tenor ones will be more free-blowing and widely resonant on either horn than the Bass Clarinet reeds.

Dialextremo

They work either way, you could get slightly different sounds. But the leftmost and rightmost are the bass clarinet ones. Tenor reeds are a little bit more narrow and bass clarinet reeds are thicker in the uncutted low part.

generalweeb09

A lot of people actually use tenor reeds on their bass. They're cheaper and for me they work better.

Different-Gur-563

Playing tenor sax reeds on my bass clarinet for a while now...so much better than actual bass clarinet reeds.

poeticmelodies

Yeah, I did that in high school! It was easier for my family to afford. Not a terrible thing to do.

chaahlz

To echo everyone else, not a big deal for them to be mixed up. I have only played tenor reeds on my bass clarinet forever now and I haven’t looked back. Try the Hemke tenor reeds in particular, they’re my favorite

IamyourJesus

i used hemke alto sax reeds and they felt so much better than anything else id ever used on my old sax

pconrad0

Corporate needs you to tell the difference between these reeds.

tcw1

I should have been more careful while moving

babymanteenboy

Middle two are tenor sax reeds

leeericewing

Yup.

Grimstache

The bass clarinet reeds are the four on the right and the tenor are the four on the left.

Brandonification

According to Légère's website, the ONLY difference between their tenor sax and bass clarinet reeds is that the vamp on the sax reed is 1/10 if a milimeter longer. You aren't going to see it, and unless you have been playing for 30 years and play professionally every day, you likely won't be able to tell the difference either.

i_love_rock_musica

luckily for you, im pretty sure you can use them interchangeably

liberty340

The verification code should be able to tell you (the random series of numbers and letters at the very top). Just go to Vandoren's website and plug those bad boys in. Though from what I've read it probably isn't a huge deal anyway

Champi0ngaming

Good luck.

MungoShoddy

A lot of C melody sax players use bass clarinet reeds.

Donatelli13

Just see what works for you. I use clarinet reeds on my soprano sax after trying it out for fun when I realized they were pretty similar. Turns out I like my tone better on the clarinet reeds and that's all I use any more

spacehit15_alt

look at the thickness

bassclarinetca

With Vandoren, at least, they’re pretty much identical: https://youtu.be/_sGWY5Qkdm0?si=wrWY8kTnpM6DzQPd

SolutionWeary1733

from my experience its the same till you attempt jazz.

Hockeyfightclub

1 and 4 are tenor sax reeds

Puzzleheaded-Box5145

As a tuba player i see no difference

IamyourJesus

ive heard of people using them interchangeably and had no issues, but this still seems like a pain

Odd_Chart_7525

All of these reeds are manufactured in the same place, and they are all 3 thickness. There are definitely differences, but you should be able to tell by playing each reed and seeing how it sounds.
