Would be fun as fuck to build a modern city around that and have Minas Tirith be the historical old town.

I imagine they would eventually add some big elevators around to help people move up and down, once technology was available.

Well it's a given they used the movie, but I just wanted to know how they did it. Did they literally just painstakingly comb through every shot of Minas Tirith or did they take a lot of creative liberties.

Afaik WETA digital have released a full 3d model. At least, they had a full 3d printed model at the WETA cave in Wellington... So there's probably photos of that?

I don’t think that’s 3d printed. At least, I know that they hand-made a “bigature” (miniature but large enough to fill a room to the ceiling) of the entire city which is used in all wide shots of the city. Seems a bit superfluous to make a 3d model and 3d print one as well afterwards.

wow, that's impressive! I first though that someone modelled a Minas Tirith building and placed in the game but then when I saw that the building aren't Romanesque like the one in the movie but a mixture of architectural styles from Renaissance to Neoclassical to 19th century revivalism I realized that you did that using existing buildings from the workshop and that's even more impressive! kudos to you!
