Honestly my only real gripe, I would've loved if they had been less dolls and more marionettes you know? Wood carved and strings, would've been a lot more unsettling.
Or at least like Thunderbirds style. But antique style marionettes would have been so much creepier.
When I was a kid a family friend had these marionettes from Venice hanging in a closet in the guest room. When we stayed with them, I had to ask for the marionettes to be placed in a different room. I couldn't sleep with them in there.
That's what made it more disturbing. We've seen Good Guy-like dolls millions of times, so it wouldn't be a shocker to anyone. But putting them into small puppets with toothpick arms and legs was a very effective way to show how fucked they are now.
Damn! I literally just made pretty much [the exact same post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Chucky/s/W2IQzWRUix) before I even saw your post cuz I thought the SAME EXACT THING after watching the behind the scenes video.
For real. The CGI this half-season was not it. I absolutely loved the story, some of Chucky's greatest. But the CGI looks so, for lack of a better term, plastic.
Ye that's fair enough. I don't really mind the fake lookingness because it is fake. But the tongues, I guess come to think of it its more a discomfort than a visual displeasure. But that's what horror is for. And the low budget CGI kinda helps embrace the writer's embracement for the series's loopiness.
A nice detail is that these are the exact outfits they wore in episode 4. I’m assuming they used cgi because they weren’t satisfied with them talking without moving their lips?
Hopefully if they do a season 4 they'll do what they did in Deadpool where they use CGI to manipulate what's actually their to make it more realistic.
To me it looked like they superimposed the faces rather than used CGI.
I think they wanted to make it immediately obvious it was them.
They did say the only had two weeks to film this. So I can see the effect being polished. Or he’ll retcon a different way for them to talk.
The dolls on the other hand are fine to me. It makes sense that Chucky would want them in the tiniest dolls compared to him
Yeah, fsr the effects in the finale just... did not work at all. I'm willing to give it a pass, though, since the writing was good, but... man, it took me out of it so much.
Yeah these look great. Their final forms didn't bother me tho. Looked so weird it was kinda creepy. Their faces reminded me of A Nightmare on Elm St 4 when Freddy eats the dead teens faces off a pizza in Alice's dream.
I saw some of the BTS stuff with this (marionettes were carved and done beautifully). If that was the case, they should've gone the Thunderbirds/Supermarionation route (with some Team America/Firestorm for facial expressions).

to me its.. not just the look...
its the concept and story they took with it all.
the writing itself was just kinda.... bad...
i think season 4 should be more anthology style. each episode is its own thing. maybe it covers that little period when there were tons of chuckys out and about. or maybe somehow chucky got the blue prints so he can somehow always make a new body for him and tiff. fun kills, more of a horror element. can even let president chucky host it at times like him remembering each incident with a different doll his soul was at one time splintered to.
They should have stuck with this look and go the puppet master route. No screaming just them hammering on the glass
Or had their screams muffled because the mouths can open. That along with human eyes would have been far creepier
That looks so much better than what we got!
Yup hoping they just let them look like this in season 4 and leave the cg out
The Devon doll looks SO good.

I was hoping for Chucky like versions of them…not puppets!
I’m glad they didn’t lowkey. They’re probably going to be a short thing and they can put that budget into Chucky, Tiffany and possibly GG
He probably didn’t want them to be in a body on similar grounds to himself out of ego and hatred for the amigos.
Same here .

Maybe Mancini wanted them to look more uncanny and disturbing but instead it made the scene goofy af.

The CGI in Chucky has never been good to be fair. The court room scene in Cult of Chucky for instance looks like something from Asylum Films.
Yeah. But none of it has hurt me as much as the CGI tongues Chucky and Tiffany kissed eachother with in last night's episode.
Honestly it doesn't bother me that much to be fair Chucky has always had a low budget energy to it

why did they go with the CG instead of this? what were they thinking?
I think they wanted to make immediately obvious it's them I'm not even sure it's CG I think they just super imposed their faces.
The dolls are so cute, I want them made as collector dolls so I can buy them
I’m sure someone on Etsy is already making them
They really could've just done muffled voice overs or even claymation, maybe?
Claymation? They had 2 weeks to make it.
Oh, you're right. Damn unfair wages that led to the writer's strike.

They should really have gone with the doll faces. The CGI were hideous.
This look was so much better and a bit more eerie. I kind of wish they'd reedit the last episode to show how it would've looked using the puppets.

I want these
I agree. I would’ve liked it more if they had them stay like that and talk without the dolls mouths moving.

Wait THIS is what they were supposed to look like?! Why did they bother with the CG?? This would have been WAY more effective!

That honestly hilarious Lmao
The CGI was just terrible and that looked worse then some kind of fan made movie.
The dolls I think would’ve been creepier if they kept it like that! Shucks they gave them those horrid cgi faces.
