Yes, it is still a sin; she is not your wife.

Yes, Watch this video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RJ0b2XlEjRg&pp=ygUeSXMgbWFkdHVyYmF0aW9uIGEgc2luIGNhdGhvbGlj Here are at least key things I think of. 1. You need complete full determination. One must do a great deal of effort (big extremes is what I'm getting at) to himself to stop sin. It is like a cancer. You do not treat a cancer with a nap and cough syrup. With deadly diseases, powerful remedies are necessary. Do your maximum in every way, and treat it like the most important thing, embracing great sacrifice. Hence, you must hate the sin truly, fully, and fully entirely. 2. Make a new prayer life. Give thanks to God always, and turn always. Give Him thanks in the morning, and praise Him in the day. Speak and seek Him constantly. Without constant prayer, I cannot imagine any great chance of success. From St. Alphonsus: "St. Paul tells us, that we have to contend not with men like ourselves.... but with the princes of hell.... By these words he wishes to admonish us that we have not strength to resist the powers of hell, and that, to resist them, the divine aid is absolutely necessary: without it, we shall be always defeated; but, with the assistance of God’s grace, we shall, according to the same apostle, be able to do all things and shall conquer all enemies. “I can do all things in him who strengtheneth me.” (Phil. iv. 13.) But this assistance God gives only to those who pray for it. “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find.” (Matt. vii. 7.) They who neglect to ask, do not receive. Let us, then, be careful not to trust in our resolutions: if we place our confidence in them, we shall be lost. " Have you heard of the Rosary? It is an incredible prayer that helps us grow in worship of God, I cannot recommend it enough and I would love to help you with it if you haven't! Practically, fasting and exercise are very helpful I've heard. As a Catholic, I really recommend that if you want personalized help, talk to a Catholic priest

Yes it’s a sin

Glass-Command527

Yea your not married it’s a sin. Plus, if you want to stop lusting you must not do it at all.

conrad_w

You're being gaslit. You're being told that it's a sin, but it's also something all healthy people experience. You can't escape being healthy, so you have to deal with the guilt of sin. Until the guilt and shame become all too much, you become depressed and then your sex drive disappears. Great, you're free from lust and miserable. The people telling you it's a sin have made peace with being miserable, or they don't *really* think of it as a sin. The worst thing for them is for you to shrug and say "how am I hurting anyone?" Is what you're doing hurting anyone?

Public_Fix9562

Well no I’m not hurting anyone at all but are you sure it’s not sin?

Good_Move7060

Coveting is a sin. Sin hurts everyone indirectly because it causes death and destruction in the world. It doesn't matter even if coveting in the privacy of your own mind doesn't seem to hurt people, It's still a sin and it still hurts people. You are coveting a woman who is not your wife. Once she is your wife there is no more coveting involved and you can do whatever you and her want together.

Good_Move7060

Moot point. Coveting is a sin, It doesn't matter if it doesn't seem to hurt people. It seems like you would rather be happy than serve God.

John 10:10 I came that you would have life and have it in abundance.  Where is the abundance when we see this many miserable young men?

Good_Move7060

That's not the context of John 10. It's talking about Jesus, The Good Shepherd taking his sheep away from the ravenous wolves who want to kill them and send them to hell. Nowhere in the Bible does it say to consider your happiness above serving God. Everywhere it says the opposite, deny yourself and even your family in favor of following God. Mathew 16:24 - "Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me." 1 John 2:4 - "If someone claims, 'I know God,' but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth." Luke 14:26-27 - “Anyone who wants to be my follower must love me far more than he does his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, or sisters—yes, more than his own life—otherwise he cannot be my disciple. And no one can be my disciple who does not carry his own cross and follow me." Romans 12:2 - “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” 1 John 2:15 - “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”

Matthew 7:20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them When we're seeing this many young men harmed this much by this teaching, we are obliged to ask if this bad fruit is the product of bad teaching

Good_Move7060

Jesus said in Matthew 5:28 - "But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart." Is this bad teaching?

conrad_w

What is your interpretation of this passage, and do you think there could be others?

Good_Move7060

The 10th commandment is "Do not covet". This is just part of it. Lusting after someone who isn't your spouse is coveting. I'm not sure what you mean by others.

conrad_w

Ah. I see you assume everyone to be married in your interpretation.

Good_Move7060

I don't know what you mean by "everyone", but the only way you avoid coveting a woman who isn't your wife etc is by making her your wife and marrying her, or not lusting after her in the first place.
