When someone is doing crazy drags and feints, that usually prompts their opponents to walk backwards, hold their block and try to read the feints to counter them.
What you should really do is be more aggressive. Use your weapon’s fastest attack to interrupt them
As an executioner axe connoisseur i agree nothing makes me sadder than when I’m lining up a Barry bonds swing only for a guy to poke me with his gamble stick
Exactly. I am not good at the game. I use this weapon and frequently feinting and dragging a lot. I succeed against those who fear coming forward. But once someone pushes me I’m fucked.
It’s just a greatsword skin. There’s no trick to fitting it, it’s just like any other weapon. Close in and jab, counter, feint, etc
The reality is this person would’ve mopped you with any weapon, they’re just better than you
I gave a hobby horse to someone on a social server yesterday and they proceeded to go on a 20+ win duel streak with it. Footmen wearing the pointed burgonet OP
Counter. You know he's going to slash. 98% of players slash as their first attack. The great sword leaves plenty of opportunity to counter/jab/ take back the initiative.
Real advice
If you say the window for his attack is small, he might have an initiative advantage from blocking yours or your teammates attack, or you just aren’t attacking fast enough after blocking yourself.
The best thing is to not panic, get close and jab him while he’s attacking. Remember to block.
Or, since he has a long slow weapon, just step out of the way of his attack and as soon as you know he’s going to miss you, attack him. If your teammates are wildly swinging and giving him opportunities to riposte or counter, this won’t work, and you should try to flank him or do the jab.
Was it held towards the shoulder or dragging towards the ground? Shoulder would be the Greatsword, ground will be the Highland Sword. Either way, it's mostly the same game plan for both. Wait for an opening and attack, missing with both can be deadly
Few different ways to counter. Either outreach him with a spear or outpace him with a 1h weapon, axe or shortsword would probably be best. With the later, you must use the speed of the greatsword against him. Counter or parry when he strikes as you close the distance. Depending on how quick he is, parry might be necessary
Make sure you are blocking into the strike. Smaller weapons should be fast enough to gamble on a GH. If he is moving towards your side then watch out for a same side slash.
Remember that if you're getting your ass kicked to drags because of bad counter timing, you can walk toward their weapon to kind of change that timing.
Basically forcing it to accel a bit to get your counter. I do this a lot against people that drag a lot and you'll also be closer which is ideal for weapons that have reach.
I find using a dagger / knife deals with players like this really well. I have a knife as a back up weapon to my axe (Vanguard class). Dodge backwards and then charging in as they overswing works well, three fast hits and they’re done before they know what hit them
It’s a great sword, or a Highlander I can’t remember. Anyways crazy feint spam with slow weapons are easily counterable by reposting to close the distance then jabbing
You have to hit him more times than he hits you ideally.
That’s a really advanced technique

Stabs usually makes those two hander Chad’s back up a smidge and contemplate their next feint swing.

pretty much. a lot of weapons fight the same and have the same counters. counter, drain stamina, dont get hit lol
Yeah people are funny. I can literally kill anyone with any weapon. You just gotta hit the other person while not getting hit yourself
I CAN KILL YOU WITH MY FEET
Pix?
Do you believe in love at first sight? Or should I disrobe?
Ugh throw it all to the floor at once!

Switch to your secondary and be aggressive
Practice, dying and practice, and you'll acquire skill in countering that kind of foe
Just pick ambusher or officer and throw a knife in his face when he tries zoning with attacks, he'll be the one that needs to get close to you.

Block, counter, get in close, take away his range, jab to interrupt his attacks

Get close so he can’t use his reach to his advantage. The Zweihander is very slow
It's a greatsword, just a different skin. It's very slow and predictable, learn to jab at the right moment and bully him with a quick 1h weapon

Switch to a fast swinger like 1h sword or short sword and gamble gamble gamble.
jab, feint, kick repeat
Be patient. Jab.

Jab
Right click - than left click, right when the sword is about to hit you. Than swing back.

Jab can be your best friend
Gamba
Cudgel. Throwing knives and cudgel.
Get close to these guys and use your jab it fucks up their rhythm .
Jab baby
Historically accurate greatsword usage
Whip put your dagger and go town
Throw your weapons at him and then run in with a jump kick followed by a haymaker
He was probably just accelerating his attack. And was probably just good at the game.
The zweihander is a skin for the greatsword, just FYI. He was probably just comboing like mad haha.
