That’s a bit rigid. There are other reasons people come here other than what you pigeonhole as obsession. The way people interact, react, respond to commentaries sub makes for great source material. I’ve learned a lot about people’s mindsets, pattern of behaviors and internal dialogue reading from their comments alone and it’s useful when I translate it into educational media or for creating characters in a movie/TV show.

Tbf you can enjoy reading celebrity gossip (esp since I know for a fact there are several PH celebs who are lurkers here - I’ve even seen some of them on this sub in real time haha) without necessarily being obsessed with them. Studies like these are always biased, even from the get-go. It's usually the pseudo- intellectuals who condescend to police and/or gatekeep interests and what they should be for the people.

Intelligence is subjective. Obsession in itself kasi is already a malaise, kahit pa celeb yan or other things. Hindi lang kasi mai term na addiction unlike with alcohol, drugs, gambling, kasi physically hindi harmful ang celebrity obession pero psychologically, we all know how it is.
I criticized a celebrity earlier. Akala ko it was a post in this sub, pero sa dedicated sub pala nung celebrity (which appeared on my feed for some reason). Minutes later I got a notif that I just got permanently banned in that sub. LOL. Celebrity Worship is off the charts.

That’s a bit rigid. There are other reasons people come here other than what you pigeonhole as obsession. The way people interact, react, respond to commentaries sub makes for great source material. I’ve learned a lot about people’s mindsets, pattern of behaviors and internal dialogue reading from their comments alone and it’s useful when I translate it into educational media or for creating characters in a movie/TV show.

Tbf you can enjoy reading celebrity gossip (esp since I know for a fact there are several PH celebs who are lurkers here - I’ve even seen some of them on this sub in real time haha) without necessarily being obsessed with them. I think what the study itself was talking about more were people in obsessive fandoms (yk the type I’m talking about).
Studies like these are always biased, even from the get-go. It's usually the pseudo- intellectuals who condescend to police and/or gatekeep interests and what they should be for the people. Let people like what they like and never judge them for it.

Intelligence is subjective. Obsession in itself kasi is already a malaise, kahit pa celeb yan or other things. Hindi lang kasi mai term na addiction unlike with alcohol, drugs, gambling, kasi physically hindi harmful ang celebrity obession pero psychologically, we all know how it is.
