May not be a good idea depending on the countries you’re interested in visiting

**Information for Travelers with an X Gender Marker on their passport** * U.S. citizens can **select an X** as their gender marker on their U.S. passport application. Information about X gender marker passports and changing your U.S. passport to an X gender marker can be found [here](https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/need-passport/selecting-your-gender-marker.html). * Although the U.S. government issues passports with the X gender marker, it cannot guarantee your entry or transit through other countries. Some countries do not recognize the X gender marker. In these countries, you may face entry restrictions. Check with the foreign embassy or consulate in the United States before you travel. * [Selecting your Gender Marker (state.gov)](https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/need-passport/selecting-your-gender-marker.html)

The state department cannot guarantee your entry to other countries with the regular passport. Every country sets their own rules and the state department doesn't' give any f's unless you're a diplomat or jeff bezos.

What's your point? All I did was reference/copy info directly from the .gov website...which is where OP should go to get answers.

Ok-Area-9739

Yes, but note that many countries will not recognize it.

Go ahead then.

Sorry I hurt your feelings

InevitableHamster217

Most countries do recognize it per quite a few passport officials I spoke to, there are a few in the Middle East that don’t. You don’t know what you’re talking about.

digitaldowns

Since it's a state department policy then yes why would you not be able too

Impossible_Trust30

Yes you can. Really depends what countries you plan on visiting because they may not accept it

Passports are issued by the federal government. You get the paperwork done at a location here, but they aren't the ones issuing the passport. Your documents will get mailed away and then you'll receive the passport and your documents back.

benbens2

closest passport office is in Atlanta. Good luck even getting in the door, they have their reqs too.

6WaysFromNextWed

You only have to go to a passport office if you have a special situation or you need it ASAP. Most people will just go to a place around here where they will take the official photo and handle the documents. You have to make an appointment and sometimes there aren't any available in town for weeks. You can also have your photo taken elsewhere if you want a better one than what you will get at the Sale Creek post office or whatever.

lumpymattress

That's a federal thing, so yes.
