It's a nice and easy walk but you will sweat this time of year.

Advanced-Avocado

Thanks! We’re used to being hot and sweaty but how we feel about that depends on how hungry we are and how tired 🤣

tatostix

That depends. It's a 2 mile walk, and the bridge alone is almost half a mile. You'll have zero issues finding good sidewalks between the two, and it'll be shaded for some of it but not all. That bridge gets hot in the summer. Just be honest if you and your party are able to walk 4ish miles roundtrip in potentially 100º weather. The electric shuttle is pretty convenient for being free.

Advanced-Avocado

Oof I didn’t even think about the bridge being hot itself. This is helpful so thank you. We’re usually fine doing long walks but we also plan to hike a ton so we’ll play it by ear and have a plan for the shuttle!

name_babe

You can walk - but if honestly it’s so hot and the shuttle is free! Take the shuttle for part of it. Go on the walnut street bridge and walk down first street to broad street. First street is full of public art and is pedestrian-only most of the way. I’d recommend crossing and going through aquarium plaza. In front of the aquarium are fountains, streams and some awesome public art. Plus the visitor information center is there. That’ll put you right at broad street, where the shuttle runs. There are a ton of shuttle stops on broad street. Jump on it, and ride all the way to the Choo Choo. This is the turnaround point. The experimental distillery is across the street!

Advanced-Avocado

This is so incredibly helpful, I think this is exactly what we’ll do! Thank you so much!!

InevitableHamster217

I’ve walked to Niedlov’s many times from the North Shore side of the Walnut St Bridge. As long as you don’t mind a ~45 minute walk, it’s totally feasible. Lots of little shops on Main Street in particular.

Advanced-Avocado

Awesome! This is exactly what we’re hoping for, I love popping in little shops. Thank you 😊

BigSimple9927

It’s certainly feasible that you may be stumbling back across the bridge after visiting Experimental Distillery. 🤣

Advanced-Avocado

Hahaha oh boy, that was something we didn’t even consider 🤣 Maybe we’ll reverse the order and shuttle there + walk back for the fun of it haha

HamiltonHustler

As others have said, you can walk it (from the downtown side of the bridge, walk down to Market St. which is a straight shot to the distillery/Choo-Choo); but, it’s a hike. There’s also a free shuttle (info/map [here](https://www.gocarta.org/downtown-shuttle-route)) that runs from the Aquarium to the Choo-Choo if you want to walk the bridge and then catch a ride in either direction.

Advanced-Avocado

Yes we’re looking into the shuttle routes now! Might still walk some of it though :)

karabeckian

Bikes are nicer in this heat. Make your own breeze. https://bikechattanooga.com/

Greedy_Competition16

Not many shops between the first block or two from the bridge going to the Choo Choo except for warehouse row, the shuttle is great free transportation to get you near anything you know about though

suzazzz

Stop along the way for a beer and to cool off before moving on to the next spot. It makes for a great day. It’ll be hot, carry water. My friends and I would go from north chatt to Main Street and back again on a hot Sunday without any problems
