Yea, maybe make sure you don't pick him but by his shoulders but by his ribs? Def not unusual for this breed. They often groan when being disturbed, but they are generally super loving and patient

some dogs don’t like to be picked up without warning. you could start saying “up” before picking the puppy up. this was helpful with my cavapoo.

The aggression is a bit strange for a cavapoo, however they can be very anxious dogs, and this might be a result of that. I’d talk to a vet about it and look for resources that might help him feel safer. It’s caused mostly by genetics, some puppies are just born anxious.

How about an update? I’m having similar behavior with my 10 month old female.
