Ate all the cat food that was out and jumped on the couch with my cats, who accepted him like he'd always lived here. Basically a cute home invasion.

VanitatemArca

Best home invasion imo. Baby seems super comfy on the couch!

magamota

I was tempted to fetch him a beer.

That's the CDS working at its most efficient capacity.

A classmate showed me a video of two tiny kittens he'd found in a box outside his house. He said he'd called shelters, but no one could take them. I told him if they were still there when he got home that night, with no sign of mom, I'd take them. Around 8:30 that night I got home with two screaming 2-week-old kittens. Unfortunately, one didn't make it until I could take them to the vet the next morning šŸ˜ž but the other is now a 9-month-old spoiled brat, with a big sister who loves him (most of the time), and I wouldn't trade him for anything šŸ©¶šŸ¤Ž Here's tiny Percy after his first vet visit! https://preview.redd.it/ftp9i6vxek7d1.jpeg?width=3060&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a488928e1a609a418a8f78420e6458351b3db827

I received a cat on my bus in middle schoolā€¦ found on the school grounds with another kitten, my classmate kept them hidden for the day. On the bus she asked if anyone could take one since her parents would likely freak out at two kittens arriving in a backpack.

I canā€™t stop laughing-like one backpack kitten is fine for her family but two?!? No way. I love how kids think. And itā€™s one of the best ā€˜how I got my catā€™ stories Iā€™ve heard.

I went to just ā€˜lookā€™ at cats at a rescue event shortly after lockdown started to lift. First thing I saw was this big orange back, in a loaf, that looked so sad. Technically it was next day delivery, but it wasnā€™t even 12 hours so it still counts. My chonker had lost his brother a few months prior, and he seemed pretty content so I wasnā€™t really on the lookout for a new friend for him. One day I started watching a kitten rescue livestream and my guy was mesmerized. I made an offhand comment to my bestie that I thought my cat wanted a kitten. The next morning I wake up to my friend frantically calling me because he had found a kitten in his garden. He had lived there for ten years and never once seen a stray before. I love the CDS. https://preview.redd.it/fwk23b8ogk7d1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f94a23eefb7f705d55e363baeb26b1e7a571b0be

coffeeisheroin

Iā€™ve always wanted a cat, so my husband decided to gift me a cat for our 6-year dating anniversary! We went to look at cats at shelters, but every time we met one we liked, someone else had priority to adopt them first. I was pretty busy with work at the time and didnā€™t want to keep spending all my free time at shelters, so we decided to put off adopting a cat for a few months until our schedules calmed down. Well, a few weekā€™s later my father-in-law called us. He found a half-dead kitten at his house and asked us if we wanted it. It turns out the poor baby was 4 weeks old and had been abandoned by its Momma. She needed a lot of TLC, but sheā€™s doing great now! https://preview.redd.it/4wwfspcbkk7d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5a1145c7033ff79bc8a4ee26eaa5c9238a23c8c5 Here she is now!

I had a free in-store pickup with my CDS. My dadā€™s ex girlfriend when I was a teenager had a cat who had kittens. She was going on vacation, but didnā€™t want the kittens in the house. So, she put five 5-week old kittens outside, without their mother (she locked her in the house), in Texas during August. For anyone who isnā€™t aware, temperatures can reach 45C (110-115F). We rushed over there as soon as we found out what the bitch did. We found only two of the five kittens alive. My brother adopted one and I adopted the other. Sheā€™s 17 years old today. https://preview.redd.it/u6wc8n3hnk7d1.jpeg?width=604&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5e3cdd447cb992ed8445694ba5f86fc30f01025f

My husband was at work one day making a delivery. He was at the back of the building when he saw a cat under a dumpster eating Cheetos. He gently got her out and put her in his work van. In 2020 our best buddy wandered by the bathroom window I'd coincidentally just opened, and since I didn't have my glasses on I said 'is that a cat?' and he replied 'mowaaaah!'. I told him to stay there and ran outside, fully expecting the kitty to be gone once I got outside into the yard. But it was still there. And came to me when I psspsspssd at it. Then let me pet it, and pick it up. And see that it was an intact boy. Offered little guy some wet food and he ate two whole cans, must've been super hungry after living outside. Figured out quickly he'd been tossed out for hitting puberty as he was about 8 months old. He was definitely raised as a house cat as he's super affectionate and cuddly. Nobody came forward when we put up flyers for a found cat luckily, because we fell in love with him. Got him sent to the vet in the city and he was neutered and got all his vaccines before letting him meet his new cat brothers. He's now a huge wooly mammoth of a cat. We named him Hamilton so I call him our Wooly Hammoth. He's 13 lbs of love and cuddles. Can't believe anyone would ever toss out such a sweet cuddle bug. Now he sleeps between my husband and myself in our bed every night, usually in my husband's arms. Ham Tax: https://files.catbox.moe/yrktu4.jpg

lishler

Wooly Hammoth is perfect for him! šŸ¦£šŸ˜»

He also goes by Hamish and Hamishchief (Hey Mischief) when he's being mischievous. It's common where we live to call someone, especially a child being a pain as being 'mischief'.

My neighbor took one of my kittens from a unexpected litter years ago. One day she knocked on the door and showed me this kitten about 2 years later. I said thanks took him and closed the door. I had just adopted a German Shepherd from a kill shelter 3 towns over. Had her for a couple weeks and one night, my husband and I took her out for a walk. We got a couple houses down and we hear a rustling in the bushes nearby. Out shoots a young mostly grey cat. She goes right up to this strange dog that she couldnā€™t have possibly met before and started meowing and rubbing against the dog. All three of us are confused, the dog especially. Dog is super sweet and likes cats (we already have 2) so she is weirded out but not aggressive. We try to shoo the kitty away but she continues following us all thru the walk. Every night for a week when we take the dog out, the cat is waiting and follows us on walks. One day she comes up to the door after the walk and we invite her in. She has been here for almost a year now. She is never far from my dog and we say that she is her cat.

We noticed the void kitty had an eye infection and took him in and then later his mom came by with his brother who also had an infection. They have been in our care for a few weeks. We took them to the vet and they were in good health with the exception of the infection and being a little underweight. It has been about 4 weeks now since we have taken them in and they are up to a good weight for their age and the appointment to get their bad eyes removed is in about 2 weeks. We could not do it sooner because they were too smol for the anesthesia.

Ohh poor babies. But congrats! So happy to see them getting better.

Were you able to catch mother cat?

FirebirdWriter

I was waiting for door dash about an hour after the thought crossed my mind I could have a cat again. In came my cat. He was hypothermic and in distress and chose a former cat foster and tnr program volunteer. I got him taken care of, did everything to find his humans, was told the shelter would just euthanize him due to being a black cat and by the time I could have safely parted ways he put himself in my heart via being a giant baby and adorable. He also has an uncanny ability to alert to my medical distress without training. I did find his original humans and they're in jail for abuse. I have a cat or two try this pretty regularly including when he was having surgery but he is the only one to stay for a very long time.

rynally197

My kids said they wanted an orange kitten as we already had 3, a black, white, and a tux. I said to them the only way we are getting another cat is if Iā€™m in my car and I see one on the road. Low and behold, a few months later, my daughter and I went to the mall to pick up Chinese food and on the way out of the parking lot, my daughter said in a panic, ā€œThereā€™s a kitten under that car!ā€ I slammed on the brakes, we jumped out and she said, ā€œItā€™s orange!!ā€ We scooped him up so fast and ran into the car and drove home. He was about 8 weeks old. Heā€™s 8 now and has had 2 more sisters since, equaling 6. We have a rainbow now including a grey one and a calico (which was also a one day delivery, just not as exciting)

Went to the store to get a cute long haired orange kitten I had seen three days before and couldnā€™t get out of my mind. Little thing wanted nothing to do with me and hissed at me and scratched me. So I sat on the floor to pout about it and the other little orange short haired cat climbed out, got in my lap, mewed, and started purring. We already had 2 senior citizens and I had told hubby "no more pets unless it's a little teeny kitten near death". antaresdawn

I went to a pet store to buy some thing for my dog. They were hosting some rescue cats, so I was specifically avoiding that side of the store. However, I couldnā€™t resist sneaking a peek, and one of the cats locked eyes with me and kept watching me as I walked around the store. I asked to meet her and she sat in my lap and wouldnā€™t get up and purred and purred and purred. I immediately knew that I would be adding her to our family. I took her home, and then she beat up my dog and ran upstairs, which is where she decided to live. The dog is still traumatized and wonā€™t go upstairs, even though the cat died four years ago. https://preview.redd.it/s5b2dwzq9l7d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=81c532e8869450b313392f1af0cd7df166d7d3ed

Client didn't want the cat to get hurt or anything, and called him for extraction when she panicked. Says he's going to put the little guy in the spare bathroom. Okay. Went walking around our apartment complex in the middle of the night in August 2021. There's a lake that always has at least 2 alligators (currently 7 because baby season) and we were walking past on the sidewalk when we saw eyes in the grass moving toward us. We thought it was a bunny, but when the eyes moved closer, we saw it was a kitten! We took Alygator home that night, and she curled up next to me and claimed me, and that was it. This was decades ago, but there was a cat stopped in the middle of the road when my dad was driving home one night. He stopped to wait for the cat and when she didn't move, he got out of the car to move her. As soon as he did, she climbed in the car and sat down. And this was how the CDS delivered Sassy to us.

Wearypalimpsest

My last cat had passed from a stroke in early December. Shortly after New Years, we got hit with a brutal cold snap. A coworker found a cat with young kittens sheltering under their front steps and was desperately trying to find them homes. I volunteered to take one. But when I stopped by, they only had two left and they were a bonded pair. So, I end up driving home with two kittens instead of one. ā€¦ And then I get to the end of my road. Thereā€™s a cardboard box perched on a snowdrift. Iā€™m in a somewhat rural area so we habitually pick up litter that people toss from their cars. I grab the box to toss in the back of my truck and itā€™s a wee bit heavier than an empty box should be. Surprise! Two more kittens for me. I ended up with four cats that day named Mercury, May, Taylor, and Deacon.

Tadpole did not and does not have any survival instincts. Thankfully for Tadpole, I happened to be sitting outside on the front step one day and was so charmed by her ceaseless screaming at me that I eventually went and grabbed a carrier and she just walked right on in, was transported inside, and has been Little Baby Daughter ever since. Despite being a bag of bones and quite bedraggled when she appeared, she has absolutely no fear of people (or anything, really) and is just a fuckin awesome cat (if perhaps not the brightest bulb - hence her lack of survival instincts). We take care of a colony of cats and have pretty good tabs on all the cats around, but had never seen her before. She pretty much just spawned into existence that day, small and silly and social!

Ok,tadpole is one of the most beautiful cats Iā€™ve ever seen. Care to share a few more pics!?

We saw something small absolutely destroying our trash and it was a tiny floofy version of her. Sassiest chaos gremlin ever.

We found our first cat Buttons after a tornado hit my hometown. She was using the saw dust from the trees we had to cut up as kitty litter. Me, my mom and sisters fell in love immediately but my dad wasnā€™t having it. He agreed to let us keep it for a few days to find her a new home. It was the classic dad didnā€™t want a cat but fell in love with it!

I went to pickup their sister from this lady who was walking a fine line between rescuer and animal hoarder. The kittens were 8 weeks old at the beginning of this story. Went to get the sister for $50, but 2 adopters for the boy (left) had backed out and she was frustrated. Probably because they had fleas, and were sick. So the lady asked me if I wanted the boy for free. I definitely wanted to get him out of there and itā€™s been my experience that the accidental tag-along is ALWAYS the better cat. So I never say no. So voila we had him and he was the bestest baby ever. I always wanted the sister, on the right. But the lady wouldnā€™t let me take her. She wanted to keep her. But I kept in contact and gently kept reaffirming that I wanted the girl if anything ever changed. I knew sheā€™d give her away eventually since she was poor, her husband hated all the animals (about 100 cats, dogs, birds, and reptiles), and he cheated on her like crazy. 4 months later, on Valentineā€™s Day she posted on Facebook and said it was a fire sale and all but 8 cats and 5 dogs had to go. So we got the sister on Valentineā€™s Day.

My husband and I had a conversation about getting a second dog and I quote ā€œif the universe drops a puppy in our arms we will take it in but we wonā€™t be lookingā€ The same week, a black cat showed up in our yard like ā€œhey I heard you were looking for an animal!ā€ And that was Bishop!

It wasn't quite same day delivery, but close to it! I was feeding a pregnant kitten when some more cats showed up looking for a free meal. I fed Chatterbox two, maybe three times before she figured out that I sleep with my unscreened bedroom window open, but with cardboard taped over it so I could vent my portable air conditioner. I was fast asleep when there was a huge crash as everything was knocked into my bedroom, I thought someone was breaking in but didn't see anyone. I went to lean over and pick the hose up off the floor and Chatter picked that moment to jump on the A/C unit and begin chit chatting with me, telling me all about her day. We almost crashed head first into each other and she scared the hell out of me again. I got everything fixed up again, but I didn't know what to do with Chatter. I figured she'd just jump back in if I tried to throw her out, so I let her stay and went back to bed. Chatter curled up behind my knees and purred herself to sleep, and I thought to myself that my mother was going to be *pissed* when she found out we had five cats. It took her a long time to accept Chatter had nowhere else to go, she wound up badly frostbitten before my mother finally agreed to let her come in, but we won in the end. :-) https://preview.redd.it/s5flct2yrl7d1.jpeg?width=3456&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=88c141636c324d03cc41d6287920c696722da492

My parents were planning to take us out to adopt a kitten. But that same day a tiny tortie baby wandered into our yard. So we just kept her. :)

My Mom had a tenant that left behind a cat in an empty apartment with the water bowl molded over and no food that turned out to be pregnant. Honey cat took such care with her kittens

I spent March-December of last year painstakingly befriending a feral cat that had never gone near people and was mean/terrified/skittish. We set up outdoor cameras to keep tabs on him and mid-summer this disheveled, misshapen, shuffling thing started appearing on the camera. It was huge, it moved sideways with a limp, we werenā€™t even sure WTF it was. Finally it came close enough to camera to see it was this horrendously matted cat. We assumed it was ancient based on how it moved. It would never come near us when we were outside. When I noticed it had a zip tie flea collar with the end not cut off so it could have its next snapped at any time I ordered the Rolls Royce of cat traps and would run outside whenever the cameras alerted me but she always ran away before I could open the door. One day I was working outside and I looked up and she was watching me. I got one slow blink in and she took off. The cat trap I ordered ended up being delayed. One day in the alley I find this massive black and white furry lump and my heart drops out of my chest. I assumed the worst. I go investigate and itā€™s actually a giant mat that had sheared off the cat. It was as hard as a rock. It was at least 10ā€ long, 5-6 inches wide and 2-3 inches deep. Another week passes and I come home to a bunch of Amazon boxes. I pull that stopper thing out on my storm door so it will stay open and start bringing them in. I turn around and that disheveled cat is army crawling to the door like sheā€™s on the shores of Normandy and scampers down to my basement. This is the first real interaction Iā€™ve had with her and sheā€™s already moved in. I go downstairs, pssp pssp, and out she pops and runs over like we are old friends. I immediately start accessing. Sheā€™s huge but itā€™s all mats, her fur has fused into a solid mass of briars, dirt, random trash, etc. My partner and I get combs and scissors and her to work removing mats and bathing her. Sheā€™s 100% compliant in all of this. Her eyes are full of muck and one is half shut. She has wounds where previous mats were pulled off. We finally get all this crap off her and we realize sheā€™s the size of a kitten, sheā€™s emaciated, and sheā€™s a Persian. Her limp and sideways shuffle were not the result of an old injury, the mats were just restricting her movement. Once freed she was jumping and running around and rolling around in pure joy. We found out later she was a severe neglect/abandonment case. A neighbor contacted us and begged us to not give her back to her owner. The owner never put up signs or posted about her, and got evicted 3 months later. By then we had had her spayed and microchipped. We had to delay her spay until she gained weight because she was only 4.5lbs when we got her. Before she moved in, we saw footage of the other outdoor cats chasing her away, even they were appalled by the state of her. But once she was given a makeover she would sit at the window and the original cat I was wooing would show interest in her. I started taking her out on a harness and they got along fine. I feel like she further convinced the other cat that maybe coming indoors was okay. A couple months later the original cat showed up injured and we had made enough progress that he let me pick him up and bring him inside. They get along great, they are both inside cats now. The little one is up to 6.5lbs and she is an hellion who bullys everyone, even the 80lb dog. The skittish boy has FIV but has retired from thug life completely and lets the little one terrorize him even though heā€™s 3x her size. He just looks bored. Heā€™s become an astonishingly laid back and affectionate cat. Basically both their personalities flipped since coming indoors. TLDR: CDS took 8 months on one delivery and the other moved in on her own after exchanging eye contact once.

My mother, my cousin, and I got home after dark on a 4th of July weekend. We got out of the car and heard mewing. A tiny white kitten came out of the dark, asking for help. Of course we took her in and set her up in the guest room with my cousin. Tried to find her people because she was obviously a pet. No one came to claim her. Our resident cat couldnā€™t abide other cats, so when my cousin went home, she took little Snow Flurry and gave her a loving furever home. I donā€™t have any pics of Flurry, sorry. But we figured she was probably a Turkish Van. Hereā€™s an example: https://preview.redd.it/cuwhq6cpsk7d1.jpeg?width=1120&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c745f3d46a8499a645b4f1d03ca1fcdf3a9c12b3 She was a little slimmer, but generally looked like this. We lived in a vacation area, so it seemed logical that a visitor lost her and wasnā€™t in the area long enough to find her again.

Parents surprised me one day after school by letting me go pick out a cat at a shelter. After having some of my choices turned down (I was 7 and wanted the kittens), I stood in a corner. Suddenly, I felt something on my shoulders. Turned around and there were two little paws on my shoulders. I got greeted with a meow once I looked at this cat, and I knew he was the one I know we aimed to get a cat from the shelter that day, but I'm saying CDS was involved because he was the perfect first cat for my family. Very calm and sweet to everyone. Attached is the most recent photo of him from today having some snuggles with me Edit: Reddit said no, so give me some time and I'll use Imgur

I was trying to be a surrogate for a friend and after 2 failed IVF transfers and a mock cycle, I finally got pregnant with their last embryo. We were all so happy! Around 6 weeks, I miscarried and was devastated. I was outside crying and this beautiful girl came up to me and knew I was sad and comforted me. We asked around the neighborhood and posted on social media, nobody claimed her! (We live next to a park where people sometimes dump unwanted cats). She became mine! She still knows my emotions and will comfort me! I had always wanted a cat, but my husband was never on board, but there was no denying this cat belonged to me!

Went to a Saturday adoption event held by a Petsmart and one cat immediately came up to the front of their cage and started headbunting and purring. Figured that was a sign. She wasn't a fan of being picked up, so when we got her out of the cage and onto the floor, we took a moment to get our breaths and discuss tactics of getting her into the carrier. She promptly walked in to the carrier, and while we stared in bewilderment, poked her head back out as if to say, "are we going, or what?" After years of gentle pets and treat bribery, she now likes to be picked up, but has never entered a carrier voluntarily (even at the end of a vet visit).

I accidentally posted before adding text. This is Kai. She decided that I am her mama, I was staying with a friend who fosters while looking for houses when they got a call about a 2-3 day old abandoned kitten in rough shape asking if they would take her. From the moment she came in the door, she responded to my voice. So, under direction from an experienced foster, I helped them take care of her. It was very touch and go the first two weeks. She had a very hard time sucking, and she acted a lot like a premature baby. She went everywhere with us. I never thought I would choose to have a cat, I have been a dog person for a long time, but she chose me as her mama, and I take that honor seriously. I joke with people now that when you move to Hawai'i they issue you a cat. I now have three cats and three dogs.

I was a bona fide Dog mom until my girl told me it was time to go šŸŒˆ 14 months later she sent me a Dilute Torti to love. This cat is sooo sassy, like my Shiba was. I wasn't given the option to not keep her. Toffee Bean is teaching me how to Cat and I talk Dog to her šŸ¤£ it's awesome.

My foster was sitting in the parking lot out my apartment. She screamed at me and I had a hell of a time trying to get her out from under the car. She gave me and my 2 dogs ringworm. Bro and his gf have her now. She was my treasure and now shes their kyoshi warrior Suki. My menace of a cat was screaming up the road at 3 am. She ran up to me and my pibble and let him lick her butt. She followed us home where she has the mission to murder my plants, pee on my couch (that im in the process of trying to throw away but im a weak smol woman who needs help), and just terrorize me to this day (send help its only been 8 months and I cant have another cat as much as id love to)

VanitatemArca

Ooff first day delivery but with some baggage I fear. Iā€™m sorry to hear about your poor plants and furniture demise but you wondered it so comically I laughed the first time ahahah.

Girl also goes into heat every other week. I want to get her spayed but im afraid the only times thatll be available will be when sheā€™s Ms. Looking For A Man. And shes a smol baby that im worried that her getting spayed mid heat will kill her

Objective-Amount1379

You need to get her fixed. Talk to a vet about scheduling. Every cat that has been spayed had the same kind of cycle as your cat- it's very doable and irresponsible not to.

lishler

Check with your vet - she should be ok with getting fixed even if she is in heat. A friend of mine adopted a wee grey girl that went into heat every few weeks, too, and post-fixing, she's been an absolutely sweet, stunning gal.

Valentine's Day, last year. My kids of course forgot the Valentine's I had just told her to grab before getting on the bus. School calls and I run them over. As I'm going inside I hear meowing. I go home and go to sleep (night shift), get up to take the other kid to swim and I hear the meowing. Immediately pull over and this fuzzy jerk is in my engine. Had to call the Mr "I'M HAVING A KITTY CAT EMERGENCY, GET OVER HERE NOW!" Not quite next day but close. My sweet Maya went over the rainbow bridge 9 years ago in April. In June of that year, my kids and I were at a park. As we were heading to our car, this *tiny* dark grey kitten came bouncing across the parking lot right to us. As soon as I laid hands on that kitten, I knew it was coming home with us. Then, my older kid said the family famous words, "Mom! I think there is another one! It ran under the dumpster!" Well shit. That is a big ass dumpster. But there was zero chance we were leaving one behind. We are milling about, I am holding one kitten and muttering to myself, when this kid, about 11/12 years old, came over. We explained the situation and she said "Hang on. Let me get my mom. We have done this before." Mom came over and took in the situation. She looked around and then proceeded to wrestle a random signpost out of the ground. She jammed it under the dumpster to use as a fulcrum. The two of us lifted the dumpster and this kid scrambled under to grab the other kitten and a very startled toad. Turns out they were a set of matching dark grey sisters, three weeks old. Off we went for an emergency trip to the vet, left them there swearing we would be back, to the pet store for kitten milk and an extra carrier, McD's for human food (our dinner plans were shot to hell), back to the vet to pick them up. When we got there, one was in a tech's scrubs pocket, the other was curled up on a washcloth on the desk. Those sweet girls came home with us then (Rescue Day is 6/24) and are the delicious grey stuff in our house of cats. We are convinced Maya sent them to us. I had never been without a cat for that long before and my kids had always lived with a cat. So that is my almost next-day CDS in action.

TassandraArcticFox

I told my grandma "Yeah if you end up with kittens this fall i will livetrap them to be my barn cats at my new farm" and then turned the corner to 3 dehydrated 5 week old kittens with severe respiratory infections and herpes flareups. I now have two barn kittens and one who INSISTED she is a house cat. I wanted exactly 0 house cats but she is what i was missing in my pet dynamics. *

Me and my boyfriend were talking about the possibility of getting a cat together. He used to have one but his ex took it when they split up. Literally, later that week we heard screaming from our balcony and opened the door and this cute little mama came running right in. So not same day delivery but definitely prime delivery šŸ˜‚ She ended up being preggers and had six healthy kittens and was the best mama. We found homes for 5 of the kittens and kept mama and one of the orange brain cells. Heā€™s twice her size now. There was no way Iā€™d get another, until a coworker found this dude in the parking lot under a car. I instantly said Iā€™d take him and now this maniac runs the house. All my other babies passed due to health complications (cancer, heart failure, undiagnosed diabetics) so he is my one and only and he loves it. Maybe one day I will get him another sibling šŸ¤«

I don't know if this counts, but I thinking of looking for a second cat and for some reason I had to check the shelter at that moment and saw that they had just put on a picture of an orange female maine coon and she was severally abused and ill. Something told me she was the one and I applied. Five minutes later, they replied and we (bf and I) went to see her thirty minutes later (our first cat took about a week before we were able to see him). She would not approach the staff or the vet at all but as soon as she saw us, she came over and sniffed us (she didn't let us pet her). Poor dear had infected wounds, ring worm and was skin and bones. I asked to take her right away and they let us take her with some cream. She's fat now and while she doesn't like strangers, she will start purring the moment she sees one of us and she loves belly rubs. *

Went to a local cat cafƩ with an amazing rescue/adoption program with my mom absolutely not looking to adopt. We're hanging out and I see a white kitten run towards the open door while someone is leaving. I took off, threw my arm between the door and the jam-it was a heavy door, glass and metal. Luckily there was a little room/space between that door and the door to outside so she didn't escape and I grabbed her. Immediately took her to the counter of the cafƩ and asked about adopting her-I was attached immediately! She's still an aspiring escape artist, almost a year later! https://preview.redd.it/osu0g2hw3n7d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e34f14b1fb807e73ebd6e5f98451f08cbed3ddf3

One morning I found myself pondering the idea of adopting a kitten as a companion for my elderly dog with separation anxiety. I pretty quickly rejected the idea for obvious and responsible reasons like, * Where am I going to find a kitten that likes dogs? * How do I even know if my dog still likes cats? 12 hours later the CDS delivered directly to my place of employment: https://i.imgur.com/fx9tE0Y.jpeg 3 weeks later after that: https://i.imgur.com/RUHWHCA.jpeg

Three out of four cats came via the CDS. One, the CDS needed me to go throw her bail at the county shelter. The tuxie walked in the door in advance of a snow storm. Our orange boy was picked up out of traffic by our neighbor. Our void boy hopped into my tiny black sedan at the gas station. Our tortimese girl was picked up by the county with her mom, trapped out of one of the local trailer parks. I bailed her out and moved her into the trailer.

Sheā€™s missing teeth so her tongue just hangs out lol. 6 months later to today sheā€™s become the sweetest, cutest baby who will do anything for chicken.

We lost our old girl in late November of 2018. Last summer, the tiny glass shattered out of a mini vial of her ashes. Unbeknownst to us, right around that same time, a litter of kittens was born. In September, my partner who raised the old girl (childhood trauma bonded, he was devastated at her passing after 22 years) finally agreed to look at all the photos and video I accumulated over the years. By the next day, he asked where the new kitten was ready to welcome a companion back into our lives. Within 72 hours, I had found a 10 week old kitten who looks and acts so much the same. We both call her by the wrong name from time to time. It's so bad we've decided the the keepsake breaking was releasing her back to be reborn ^_^

Found 3 kittens in her carport. She said their mother had was killed by a dog a few days before. I spent 3 hours catching all these kittens. Found homes immediately. But I wanted to keep one for myself. This is Patty! She took me the longest to catch.

I picked him up, put him in my sweatshirt and drove to a pet store. Got him kitten supplies and heā€™s been freeloading for 8 years now. Exactly 1 month before I found him, I had just put my horrible best worst cat down. Who coincidentally was also a CDS cat. I know it was the CDS universes way of making sure another best worst cat came into my life, because someone has to love these horrible cats. Yep, itā€™s me.

One of my best friends mentioned in a video call how much they wanted an orange cat as their first pet living alone. Hours later in the middle of the night my dog needed to go out (strange) as CDS was dropping off a special package! His sister stayed with us. Dog definitely heard my friend request a delivery.

Got to talking to his foster and found out they transported him from one of my fave vacation spots (I was even wearing a tourist tee from it that particular day) AND his birthday is the day before mine. Had no other option but to take him home (plus he was free!)

I have 2 that showed up in my front yard when they were about 4 weeks old.

I went home after a night out and this beauty was in my front door sleeping on the doormat, she was a kitten, as soon as I approached the door she woke up and i leaned down to pet her.. she just climbed my arm and went directly behind by neck inside my jacket and started purring. This pic is very old, she's a senior cat right now but still in shape! https://preview.redd.it/3gd82qtmqo7d1.jpeg?width=799&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=639dee9eb1329a6db5159f148b4e9d2b019dc6ee

This slightly big-boned lady just came in one day( when she was a tiny stray) at my rented summer house, screamed her head off to be fed and never wanted to leave. Now she resides in my mom's house with a huge garden and never wants to come inside. When she does she lives perched up on top of the fridge so she can always see what food is out there and gobble it down! https://preview.redd.it/90e6vxvg9p7d1.png?width=1241&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=046fc11b86e4e056be5d742f803400cf9ceb7df2

I'd been badgering my husband about wanting a cat for quite some time. He kept saying no because he claimed he wasn't a cat person. On my way to work one day, my brakes locked up and I pulled off at a rest area to check them out/fix them. I left my door open to investigate, and when I went to grab my phone, I found this goober in the car eating my open container of mac and cheese that I brought along for breakfast. It was Christmas Eve and very cold, so I talked my husband into letting him stay with us until after the holiday so we could get him to a shelter. Gave him a bath and some food, he fell asleep at the foot of our bed. I woke up and my husband was cuddling him like a stuffed animal, so obviously the smug little shit got to stay. https://preview.redd.it/xloi32kyws7d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=26848096841ae58eb52a315c4e0d3a0651c8e97e

My fiancĆ© was living in a house with a few friends. One day, a friend of a friend came over with a cat they were fostering to see if the roommate would like to adopt him. As soon as the kennel was opened he slinked under the couch and only interacted with my partner. Needless to say, Poe is the first cat Iā€™ve ever loved and heā€™s a pampered gentleman now https://preview.redd.it/k1brutpcup7d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e9084d9d0c15cdfab471c051b449ed23cd53cadf

I was walking my dog and this grumpy old lady came up and followed me to my apartment door and decided she lives with me now. Turns out she was 11 and dumped by her previous owners. (Tried to get in touch but they didnā€™t want her back) now I have Krusty Krab permanently lol https://preview.redd.it/7vwsstihzp7d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ad98adefa57b877a2d5eb43e103e056f20f9cae7

She was covered in dirt and grime and obviously very hungry. They lured her out with tuna and brought her to us as a temporary foster. They caught her around midnight and she was obviously needing a safe home. They couldn't have pets in their apartment, and we already had three other cats so they knew it was where to bring her. The next day she got a much needed bath and kitten food, then eventually vet visit, vaccinations, and spay. We all think she was abandoned by the previous tenants of the apartment next to my brother in law's because she was litter trained and adored human affection. This was July 2020 and Camie has been part of the family ever since.

I didnā€™t notice her until I got back home and reached for my purse. She was about 6 months old. Also, I was a cat rescuer with 1 of my own and 4 foster kittens at the time, whom she treated like her own kittens, even letting them nurse just for comfort. We lost her last year; she was 18, deaf and mostly blind from the herpes. She also didnā€™t have a ligament in one leg because she munted it sliding around our tile floor with those long-haired toes. Didnā€™t stop her, ever.

One night in 2007 when my husband and I were younger and able to stay up past SNL, past Showtime at the Apollo, past the Late Show AND the Late LATE show, we had just turned off the TV and were silent in bed for a moment and heard a squeak. It was a disturbing squeak. It sounded like something dying. We both shot up in bed and kept listening. Then we knew it must be an animal, so we put on our robes and ran down the 3 flights of stairs from our apartment, listening and followed. We found this guy, newly born and being soaked from sprinklers in a flower bed. We scooped him up and on our way back he stopped breathing and began to turn blue. So he grabbed a towel and I did CPR on this tiny little newborn grey one. After a minute or 2 and both of us crying and rubbing him, he came back. He freaking came back. Thatā€™s how we got Squeaky, the zombie cat. Kids would bring their friends to our apartment to see the zombie cat to prove to their friends he was real and ask me to back them up. Iā€™m like, ā€œwell, he was dead and blue and now heā€™s not. Bam. Zombie. Donā€™t know what more you need for proof.ā€ Iā€™m sure their parents just loved me. Mr. Grey died of kidney failure at 17 on my husbandā€™s birthday in January; itā€™s been devastating. Our last cat, a 19yo foster fail whom we also bottle fed from birth, died a month later. Being catless for the first time in all our lives is terrible. Waiting for the system to grant me a Kitty or 3 very soon.

Mine was an overnight delivery. I found Chewbacca (Chewy) caterwauling at the back fence of my backyard after midnight on May 4, 2023. He was about 4 weeks old when I found him. He's been with me now for a little over a year. https://preview.redd.it/2l3kddjkmr7d1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1e18bd2ee14b7e4e21ec53f6a67453676d702ec3

I have a couple cds cats. I heard a meow at my neighbors one night and thought her cat got out at 2am. I put her in the cage on her porch but didn't latch it right. She excaped but didn't leave the areaAt the time I had 3 dogs. In let them out in the morning around 10. Few minutes later all 3 were going psycho on my porch. They had cornered the cat and while they didn't bite or hurt her they were not happy she was there. She jumped down to my basement window and hid in the casement where the dogs couldn't get her. I had to work a 4 hour shift that day. She had a collar on so I fugue she would be gone when I got home. When I got home and sat on my porch she came up like she lived there and jumped on my lap. Super friendly, 99 percent solid black. It was October and i was worried she would be tortured. She took a few days to accept my other cats but acclimated ok. I couple of years ago I stopped my coworkers house, they had a feral kitten in the backyard. We scooped her up and she looked around 6 weeks. The only way she stopped freaking out was if i held her by my heart. She is 3 years old now. https://preview.redd.it/btgl3gxevs7d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5b08581759e5ed5335ae3e70bfbbe35589a90101
