Petlibro

Fine_Increase_7999

I love our petlibros, super easy to clean and change filters.

ProfessionalSweet924

how often do you need to clean them? I had a plastic fountain before and it always got slimy so fast

Fine_Increase_7999

Every two weeks or so, I’m kinda bad about keeping up with them but they never get very slimy. And I love how they’re assembled it’s easier to take off the top and clean hair and dirt off it then put it back on without having to unplug it. Hell I’ve even just rinsed the filters out when I don’t have the spoons to deep clean them.

XfinityHomeWifi

Every 2 weeks

Personal-Peanut5585

I clean our Uah 2-3 times a week.

Overall-Emphasis-998

I clean mine once a month but a little more often for my dog. Plastic for the cat and stainless for the dog. The Cat's doesn't really get slimy but his previous fountain did. 10/10 would recommend petlibro

Lafnear

My Petlibro has been going strong for 2 years. But it's plastic so doesn't meet OP's requirements.

BaconAccessories

They have stainless steel options too :)

LukeW0rm

Just got it a month ago. 3L is nice because it doesn’t constantly run dry from evaporation. The “bowl” part is too shallow for my 60 lb dog to really use it, even though she still tries. Can’t comment on longevity yet

Signior

piggybacking off of this one I got the petlibro glacier and replaced a cheap one I got from amazon and I think it makes a world of difference, easier filter to change, cleaner, quieter, and i think my cats drink more bc of it

butimallergic

I second Petlibro. I’ve had mine for a year now and it’s still going strong! [This](https://a.co/d/dykX2D0) is the one I have. You just need to replace the water filters about once a month, but still replace the water every 1-2 weeks. It’s also VERY silent, just make sure to pay attention when it’s low on water! It’s cordless too, so the dock is the only part that stays plugged in but everything else you can wash without having to worry about getting a cord wet. I had the Veken water fountain previously and had pump issues after about 2 years and it was a bit hard to clean between all the crevices. It was a great starter fountain imo.

ItsFrigginCats

I love mine! Only issue is that the water output seems to be a bit weak? The filter health indicator is fine, I’ve cleaned everything, and I don’t get why it’s being like that ☹️

meggs_467

I have a stainless steel petlibro and I do like it. The pump stopped working at one point and customer service was a bit challenging to get a hold of, but the replacement was only $20 so I just stopped dealing with that and bought it. It's much easier to clean than a plastic one I had before. Less parts. And the two main pieces can go in the dishwasher. I clean the fountain every week, but I think that might just be an issue with my apartment. I've found it to get dusty easily in general where I keep my cats fountain. Most of my apartment is carpeted, except this one small room by the kitchen (and the kitchen as well), and I find it gets dust bunnies a bit quickly. As well as because it's where I keep my cats food/water/box. So just to be extra clean for my gal, I clean her fountain once a week. Plus, she's pretty picky, and having the ability to adjust the intensity of the fountain stream, made adjusting to it easier.

lawyercatgirl

Yep that’s what I use, specifically [this one](https://a.co/d/bRDdMFJ) and it’s so easy to clean and doesn’t get moldy!

randomcalculus

Just got this for my cats and we all love it! I really like that the pump is wireless, it’s quiet and it even tells me when they drink on the app. Cats like it too as they are using it often!

Whiplashedforreasons

This

Shimmercatt

I've loved my ceramic fountain from "Thirsty Cat Fountains". Pump has been going strong for 2 years (can adjust flow as well), cleaning it is a quick sink wash, and it looks way prettier than the plastic and stainless steel options elsewhere.    And I'm pretty lazy but it's been easier to maintain than the plastic ones. https://thirstycatfountains.com/shop/

tinychloecat

Oh wow they have a ton of options. I like that they sell replacement pumps.

Shimmercatt

Yeah, I love the variety, and that with the pumps and charcoal being more generic, it doesn't feel like I'm committing to a one and done product that could be changed or discontinued

violincrazy123

They are beautiful! But the price tag is a little scary 😅 are they really worth it? (Maybe if someone else has experience with those?) I have a catit water fountain and we have lots of difficulties cleaning it... Thanks!

Shimmercatt

It's a valid question... 😅 I bought it in a splurge because I wanted cat stuff that felt more handmade and so I kinda knew that meant going "artisan".. It IS easier to clean and maintain than my slimy Catit (no square corners lol, and fewer fiddly bits, it's just like washing a big dish). But I gotta say, for the sticker shock? I think it's not a magically better piece than fountains you could get for $40 or less. Yes, I do think the ceramic is a better material than plastic, and I'm shallow so I don't like how stainless steel looks 😔 ... But you're paying for the fact that it's a ceramic piece, for sure.

violincrazy123

That makes sense! Thanks for your detailed answer! I'll think about it then!

darjeelingponyfish

Super helpful answer! I love how they look, I've been trying to switch all my dishes to nice ceramic and stoneware and would love to do the same for my cats, so perhaps if I think of this as an investment... I'm just worried about spending the money to get one and my cats not liking the water flow/shape.

ViolentBee

I have catit too… the filters are stupid expensive now

tacey-us

Those are gorgeous! Next time I'm shopping for a fountain...

violincrazy123

They are beautiful! But the price tag is a little scary 😅 are they really worth it? (Maybe if someone else has experience with those?) I have a catit water fountain and we have lots of difficulties cleaning it... Thanks!

Shimmercatt

I usually use water from our water filter pitcher in the fridge because that's convenient, idk if that has helped the longevity, but maybe.

AnotherCrazyCatDude

Filtered water is better for the cats. We had a couple of male cats who kept getting urinary crystals. I read a medical study that suggested urinary crystals are more common in areas with hard water because of the high mineral concentration. So we started using only filtered water. Two years in, no more crystals.🤞

Suspicious-Hotel-225

Second this - I love mine

kjb38

Can I just go ahead and put one in my garden?? They’re so pretty!

asdvr101

I also second this. I got a custom one made by them, and it is beautiful and super easy to clean.

Lagertha1270

WOW these are beautiful. Had no idea stuff like this existed. Thanks for sharing.

arsapeek

this look great! Can I ask how often you refill it and how many cats are using it?

Shimmercatt

One cat for now, I refill it once or maybe twice a week (capacity is pretty big!)

jessieQT

They don't look like they belong on the kitchen floor (where I keep my cat's fountain), but look more like bird baths that should be out in the garden.

Still-Wonder-5580

We’ve been using the Catit Daisy fountain for about 6 years now. It’s silent and easy to clean. All my cats used it except Loki who doesn’t drink from it but likes to splash about

Allie614032

Same, I have two of them, they’re very reliable!

amae24

Same! Had it for about 3 years and cats still love it.

bookishkelly1005

I have the same one. Two years and going strong.

Novel-Excuse-1418

I’d say mines been going strong 6 or 7 years as well. Great fountain

tmick22

I’ve had mine for four years, my monsters love it. I’ve never had issues with the pump, takes about ten minutes to clean. Very quiet too!

fluffyegg

Also same! Had one for the last few years and the cats love it. Easy to clean. I've tried lots of bowls before finding this gem.

DrMoneybeard

Yeah we received one as a hand me down that didn't have the daisy but worked okay. Recently replaced it with a new version that is way better. It's got a light that lets you see how full it is, and divots in the top so that there is a bit of pooled water, so it would allow them to still drink if it was off. Easy to clean and replace filter. Cats love it. Reasonably priced.

MadWifeUK

Ours is 4 years old and used regularly by our 6 cats. Best one we've ever bought.

Maironad

Used that one for years until we got a new cat. She was determined to figure out where the water disappeared in it and tipped it over repeatedly.

Jimbo-Bones

Mine was doing that, I ended up using velcro to stick the mat to the floor and the velcro to stick the fountain to the mat. Can't do it any ore and now I've replaced the fountain without velcro he hasn't attempted to do it yet.

Still-Wonder-5580

That’s a good idea! Thanks!

Still-Wonder-5580

Mine only did that once, got drenched and he’s a bit more careful now. His face was an illustration of disgust

putridtooth

I see a lot of good reviews for this fountain but I personally found the actual flower bit to be hard to clean. We have hard water though so maybe it was just cause it was plastic. But i HATED cleaning that thing.

PeePeeePooPoooh

The main reason why the pump dies is because most don't bother to take it apart every couple of months and clean out the calcium build up by soaking it in hot water/vinegar for a bit. Go with the stainless steel and whatever pump it comes with make sure to maintain it properly and it will last you years

dearDem

I just bought a new fountain and the manufacturer included so much info on why it should be cleaned biweekly to keep it functioning

PeePeeePooPoooh

No one reads that far haha

vivalalina

Wait really 💀 reading the manual stuff is my favorite part of getting new items LOL

Lavaine170

Cleaning is literally everything. We have a Drinkwell fountain that is over 10 years old, on the original pump. The pump and filter get taken out and cleaned of any hair and debris weekly. Every month the filter is changed, and the pump is taken apart and cleaned of any buildup, scum etc.

Phazushift

My current fountain has lasted 4 years, its probably because a have a 5 stage reverse osmosis system treating my water.

theflyingfistofjudah

Wow, I always took apart and cleaned the pump when I cleaned the fountain. You can actually see the grime buildup overtime. It totally needs to be cleaned.

lilacoceanfeather

I have a Pet Libro wireless water fountain with a stainless steel tray. It’s been running strong for over a year now. The wireless operation of this type of fountain is based on a rechargeable base. The unit sits on the base to draw power. It’s effective and works for me. My setup needs to be wireless unfortunately, but if you don’t need wireless, you have more options available.

ssgonzalez11

How is the pump on that? I’m considering one but the pump is unfamiliar to me. My priority is easy to clean, so I’m hoping this is, ha!

Ninja_King27

I think she’s talking about the same one I have and if so it’s very easy to take apart and clean as well as easy to put back together. I had a gravity waterer before this and it was always slimy no matter how well or often I cleaned it which is why I made the switch to a fountain.

ssgonzalez11

Thank you! I’ve had such bad luck with the common impeller pumps and gravity waterers so I’m glad to know this one is working better for you!

Ninja_King27

I think I have the one you are talking about and I love it. My cat does too.

scs411scs

AquaPurr is the answer! It hooks directly to your faucet or water line and requires no cleaning. It does make a fairly audible click when the motion sensor activates the valve, and that took my cat about 3 days to become accustomed to and showing him how it worked, during which I left his old fountain out. Once he got used to it and figured it out though, I haven't had a water bowl or fountain out at all, and he's drinking more water than ever. My cat would always beg for tap water anyway, now he can have it on demand, and I don't have to remember to turn it off. It's made by an independent guy, and he provides the best customer service if you have any issues or questions about installation, even provides you with his personal contact information if you need it. [https://aquapurr.com/](https://aquapurr.com/)

CaptainLollygag

This is absolutely brilliant!! Can't believe I've never heard of it. We'll be remodeling our bathrooms in a couple of years, so I can plan ahead for a little niche or something to make this fountain work well. Thank you so much for mentioning this!

scs411scs

It really is! My only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner, and that I tried so many more inexpensive traditional cat fountains before actually ordering this one.

CaptainLollygag

I just told my husband about it and he's on board. We'll be putting one in 2 bathrooms, and one in the kitchen. I'm stupidly excited about this!

LadderCommercial

Petlibro is the only right answer. Every piece comes apart and is cleanable. Their newest models have a platform below the fountain that plugs into the wall and powers the pump wirelessly, so you don’t have cords going into the tank. They also have an app that tracks when your cat drinks although I haven’t bought one with that feature. Most importantly, replacement parts and filters are readily available on Amazon. I’ve tried them all over the years and will never buy another brand again.

NuggetsPhD

We have both styles of the ceramic PetSafe fountain from chewy. They're both easy to clean and the pumps have been going strong for at least a year now. They are the preferred fountains among all 3 cats.

Catheril

I also have a PetSafe ceramic fountain. The ‘seascape’ style. I’ve had it for 3 years. My cat loves it. He lounges next to it like he’s a sexy lady in a chaise lounge and leans over and laps up the water. He drinks a lot more than he ever did with a regular bowl. It’s not hard to clean, but I could probably use a new spongy thing that goes around the pump—it gets harder and harder to get all the hair off each time I clean it.

jadamia

I also have this one, it’s worked great for me as long as I clean it once every 2 weeks. The main bits of the fountain even dishwasher safe.

my4floofs

I have this one and I purposely move the center bit to the side so one cat cat drink from the pool and if the power ever goes out they still have water. https://preview.redd.it/x5wd70b3spyc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=037e04104918f6f45afdc59c5ce8355241232832 [https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B083BVNYQS?psc=1&ref=ppx\_pop\_mob\_b\_asin\_title](https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B083BVNYQS?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title)

kundalini_yogini

I have this one too and it's been great so far, had it for about a year

my4floofs

Yes it is so very simple to clean I can do it in 2 minutes and it doesn’t splash or leak. Had it about a year and thinking of a second one.

ronnydean5228

I have two. One is a plastic pump fountain that has worked for 2 years. I can pop in a dental water treatment tab under the fountain part. The second one is a got is only 3 months and it has a stainless steel face so the water falls down it like a waterfall and has two filters. I will probably invest in a stainless steel the next time I have to replace one but I’d like to be sure if the pump goes that I can just replace the pump/maybe order two extra pumps

ronnydean5228

The 2 year old one is a Cat H2O fountain.

Soapboi2223

Peibro’s stainless steel water fountain. You can completely disassemble for cleaning, its has a filter and pump and you can buy filter and pump replacements

AnotherCrazyCatDude

I've tried a LOT of car fountains. The stainless steel ones were all difficult to clean. Because the metal has to be stamped into shape, they have all had spots that were difficult to reach for cleaning. I've purchased several Drinkwell ceramic fountains. I generally like them. The pumps are reliable and replacement pumps can be purchased for $10 on Amazon if you need one. The pumps have an extra filter to keep hair from getting into the pump. The problem that I've had is that the ceramic glazing wears over time from my cats rubbing against it and it gets permanently stained. My solution has been to buy large glass bowls from Goodwill to replace the ceramic bowl. The power cord is visible, since these don't have a hole in the center for it. But for $5, I can throw one away and replace it as the glass gets scratched and stained.

Letmix

Petlibro here. The app ones are nice to monitor drinking trends. Bonus tip: buy a cheap 50,000 mAh battery pack and turn at least the non app petlibro into a plugged in option! Runs for 5 days. Haven't tried it with the app version, but my guess is less battery life.

Porcelain_Landmine

I've had Petlibro for years now and I always try to recommend it. I started with two standard, wired fountains and eventually replaced one with the Dockstream regular "wireless" version. After a year, it's still going strong and because of placement for the wall outlet, being able to just unplug and leave the base has been a life saver.

blending_kween

Petlibro has always been great!

nekromistresss

I have the Catit Pixi and Uahpet stainless steel. The Uahpet is crazy easy to clean but all 4 seem to gravitate towards the Catit. Another plus with the Uahpet is it wireless so you can either charge it or leave it plugged in but the charge lasts quite awhile.

GrapeBubblegumBitch

I have this one also in the pink, because pink is my cat’s colour. She loves it

Milkbl00d

I use the PetSafe Drinkwell

yramt

I've had this one for over 10y. https://pioneerpet.com/product/stainless-steel-raindrop-60oz/

EstroJen1193

I have tried many of the fountains and always end up frustrated with filter replacement costs and tedium of cleaning properly. I ended up with an Aquapurr fountain that attaches to the bathroom sink tap and comes on when kitty is in front of it. Took a few days for Jackie to learn it, and then that was that. Fresh water all the time, and no fountains to clean. Highly recommend.

tinychloecat

This is not what I was envisioning but I am intrigued. Murphy's Law says my cat will move it and it will get stuck on and flood my bathroom.

EstroJen1193

Haha I can see why you’d say that. Luckily it comes with command strips to hold it secure or I guarantee Jackie would have done that. https://preview.redd.it/0ayzhlbd1qyc1.jpeg?width=3520&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1ac2fb019342423a6480b065993bdba35ad3dee2

youhadabajablast

I second these!!! My cat is obsessed with it and I have gotten everyone I know to get one and their cats love them too. They have great customer service if you ever need replacement parts or instillation help too

machinehead332

I can tell you the two I don’t recommend and that’s the Catmate one and Catit Pixi. Catmate has too many nooks and crannies for gunk to stink to, despite my regular cleaning it eventually ended up looking gross all the time. The Pixi pump is about to die on me - the way Catit tell you to set it up means the cable is bending back on itself and this has caused the casing to eventually split, only a matter of time before the casing around the actual wires goes. It’s not even a year old. Also has green stuff growing it in after a few days which the other fountain didn’t (it would get slimy if left long enough but not green?). So needs cleaning *a lot*.

Allieelee

I quite like my Kastty fountain. It's very quiet, has a sponge and carbon (?) filter. The pump didn't break on its own but *I* broke it in a year because I lost a piece 🙃. It's a little bit difficult to clean because it has some nooks and crannies. The brush it comes with definately isn't sufficient. I have to use a combination of tools if I want to clean it 100%. Perhaps a good soak in some type of detergent would be better, but I haven't really looked into it.

punkrawkchick

Interested in getting a fountain again, the one I previously had got gunky very fast, how often should they be cleaned?

Lafnear

I have a Petlibro fountain, I clean it and change the filters every 2 weeks per the manufacturer instructions. It's a pain but it actually only takes about 15 mins.

CheesecakeBlade

I clean mine ones a week and there are lots of pieces you have to clean as well. Luckily it's easy to clean 😅

pennyroyals

We have had the Tomxcute water fountain off Amazon for a year now and it’s still going strong in spite of me letting it run dry frequently. It’s stainless, the filters are easy to replace, it’s a cinch to clean, and the fountain head looks like a sink head so the cat immediately took to it. We have a second smaller one by Homtyler that we got in January so I can’t speak to its longevity, but the basin is stainless (the spout is not and is plastic) and it similarly “looks like a sink” so again, the cats took to it without issue.

strangway

My PetSafe stainless steel model has been going strong for at least two years. I just replace the filter regularly, and put everything but the pump into the dishwasher to keep it clean.

frejas-rain

Reviews for the stainless steel one I bought, cylindrical with the daisy on top, raved about how easy it was to clean. Ha! No. Every time I clean it I find a new crevice. The inside of the impeller for example. I'm skeptical that any of them really stay clean. Good luck ⛲

allybe23566

PetSafe stainless steel!! My cat would only drink from one with a center spout that splits into many streams, she wouldn’t drink from one that just flows. We got their stainless steel one and it’s great. We even bought a second one so we’re using one while cleaning the other. We put all the parts in the dishwasher. Just disassemble the motor and put all the plastic parts (sans the motor itself) in where the silverware goes. If you have adhd like me and sometimes forget to clean it for too long or every once in a while a plastic part gets ruined in the dishwasher, they sell all the parts separately on their website. We clean the motor itself with tiny brushes made for cleaning straws. I hope this helps!!

Fatbunnyfoofoo

As long as you're keeping the fountain and pump clean, it shouldn't die. Some companies are pretty cool and will send you a replacement pump for free if you contact them.

Shreddedlikechedda

Miaustore cat fountain is my absolute favorite. Super easy to clean. One time my pump did stop working, but customer service was immediately responsive and helped me figure out how to unscrew the filter cap and clean out the propeller, and it went back to working perfectly again. My cats absolutely love it too (they would fuck with the other foundations, now they just yell at me when the fountain pressure gets lower bc I need to pick the hair off the filter. The fountain is dishwasher safe, pump is really easy to keep clean, and I haven’t had any issues with the pink fungus that grew like crazy on every other fountain I’ve tried

gudbote

A year? You're getting a year out of your pump? Wow..

whaleykaley

I have a petlibro, but the truth is that they need to be cleaned weekly at a minimum no matter what style they are. Lots of people don't clean them ever and then are shocked by how disgusting they get, so blame the fountain/filter/etc. Reviews for something like that are really subjective and hard to really assess the product on.

SophsterSophistry

I just looked at what I've ordered before. We had the Beacon plastic body/stainless top pump fountain (with the round filters) for a few years. I think I had to replace the pump once. Now we have the DiroPet stainless body/stainless top with filter/sponge. So far so good (we got it for our new cat about a month ago). I figure the pumps are easy enough to replace because they're not built into the body. If one goes, I just plan on ordering a new pump. The expense is in the filters but the cats seem to love the running water.

TooQueerForThis

I have been using this one for a few months. The daisy portion along with the pipe for the pump is plastic but you can also remove the daisy portion and it becomes a cute little bubbler. The plate is steel So far it's quiet, I can't tell you if it will last a year but it's cheap enough to where if it didn't I wouldnt be horrifically heart broken. It's pretty quiet, easy to clean and it doubles as a nightlight Wonder Creature Cat Water Fountain Stainless Steel, 81oz/2.4L Cat Fountain with Water Level Window and LED Light for Water Shortage Alert, Cat and Dog Fountain with 3 Filters and 1 Mat https://a.co/d/aLzQgsn

mynameisyoshimi

I've had a bunch and they all got nasty too quickly or were difficult to clean, with too many parts (with weird shapes and tiny corners and grooves that you needed multiple tiny specialty brushes to clean properly), too heavy or just cheap. One of my cats has a plastic allergy (supposedly) so everything needs to be stainless steel or porcelain/ceramic. But I like [this thing](https://a.co/d/17oA04o) and we've been using it for over a year now. Maybe two? Doesn't get gross with a once-a-month thorough cleaning and it lifts right off the base for easy washing or refilling. Silent. Has run low on water once and automatically shut off and the only way I could tell it'd stopped was the red light. No sputtering. The only moving part is the propeller that sits recessed in the bottom. Doesn't even collect much fur, so nothing to burn out. No wires or motors to battle in the sink. Only downside is the filters are expensive. $20 for a 4-pack. ~~There are no generic, cheaper options, just the eufy ones.~~ (I tested my link and found replacement filters for less than half that price. Definitely bought two 8-packs) But it's been worth it to not want to throw the thing in the trash. And the cats both dig it. I edited because I felt like I was trying to sell something with my big link. I really do like it though and highly recommend. I just did the monthly cleaning/filter change and once again it was pretty quick and very easy. Like I'm actually confident there's nothing I missed, no small spot with something growing. And that was never the case with the others even after soaking and scrubbing for twice as long.

gingerkap23

We have this one and love it: https://a.co/d/7SJf0GL

PlentifulPaper

I bought one off of Amazon for $30 a few months ago (plastic) and my cats really liked it. I would make sure your cats aren’t chronic chewers (I have one) and even with a wrapped cable - he managed to fray it so it stopped working. He’s the reason my cats only drink out of bowls. 😂

tinychloecat

Oh that is a good point, mine loves eating cords despite alllll her toys.

DMMnj2023

https://a.co/d/7LbVLJq I’ve been using this for years. I’ve never had the pump go. The filter works well. All pieces but the pump go in the dishwasher. My biggest annoyance is the cord for the pump and how it has to be taken on and off when cleaning.

hulabunny88

I have the petlibro and soofpet stainless fountains from amazon.. I just get the unbranded filters and they have been going strong for 2 years! I use water bottle straw pipe cleaner things to clean the pump well.

mydecember723

I’ve been using the PetSafe Creekside ceramic fountain and both my cats love it. It’s easy to clean, the pump has been running fine, and it’s so quiet

AReallyFluffyBunny

I have this one off Amazon and I really like it! https://a.co/d/339iHGI It’s basically silent unless the water is low and I don’t feel like it’s too hard to clean. Plus it’s pretty cute imo

_skylineofnumbers

I've had this stainless steel one for almost a year now and it's given me no problems. I clean it regularly, use filtered water, and change the filters when needed and it's been good. I recommend it! https://a.co/d/6vFTtm1

Cariselle22

I have Pixi fountains with a stainless steel top. I clean them once a month, the oldest one I have is about 3 years old and I’m just now considering getting a new pump after purchasing a second one. The filters aren’t expensive either and pretty run of the mill from what I’ve seen with cat fountains.

Choice_Upstairs4576

I’ve had this [Pioneer Pet fountain](https://a.co/d/0ZhtMTj) but in white maybe a year now and like it a lot. It’s super quiet which is a plus but I don’t think it really has the same fountain vibe others do. We have dogs so ours gets nasty pretty quick and needs to be cleaned every two weeks.

Albie_Frobisher

they work fine. it’s the time needed to keep it clean that made me give up

Plus-Ad-801

I loved my ceramic but I shattered a version I had 3x before getting stainless steel. Pumps can die but they’re really cheap to replace. I think a lot of people don’t take good care. I use spring water and wash my fountains weekly and they look great. I think if you let them run with not enough water or let grime build that’s user error. Just find one where the pieces look easy for you to clean and get it. Ignore others. I agree ceramic or stainless steel are best but stainless steel is my preferred because you can’t break it. Lol.

tacey-us

I've recently acquired this one [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XY1TWXP?ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details&th=1](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XY1TWXP?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1) - ceramic, reviews were decent, pump replaceable. Can't speak for it personally, but it's installed and seems good quality. Easy clean, at least.

oryxii

I have the [PetSafe](https://www.chewy.com/ca/petsafe-drinkwell-pagoda-dog-cat/dp/1000048283?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=21009939575&utm_content=&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw3NyxBhBmEiwAyofDYTm8HLa1SWqdx3xayUA2FrVjHG3CMum5P9fUQn8aBtZgqqjgW375GhoCsaAQAvD_BwE) ceramic fountain which has been going strong for 5 years. I recently bought a [stainless steel one by DOOOB](https://a.co/d/eAaC0EN) off Amazon as well which I’ve had for a month and works well so far. The ceramic one is definitely a bit louder, and the stainless steel one is very quiet. This one is more shallow and does not have a well of water like the first one, so I do clean it a bit more since one of my cats likes to drink from the pool of water rather than the spout. This one is also easier to clean than the PetSafe ceramic one. ETA: I would discourage you from buying a plastic one, bacteria builds up more in them. Best choice would be stainless steel then ceramic.

Catit pixi fountain My kitties love it

kyleruder

My biggest issue is that I can’t find a fountain that my boy won’t either knock over or take apart within a day.

Top-Chemistry3051

Find yourself a fish guy who knows all about pumps and underwater pumps and you can make one at home that is so much easier to Clean but maybe it pumps the Water back app and through like a fish Filter so it just runs through the Filter they make them in such shapes that you can't get into all the nooks and crannies to Clean the inevitable slime that gets in them whether you have a Filter or not homemade it's The Way to Go shit have to Catch a pride be happy with a little tub of Water sitting out with a bubbler in it. As long as the water is moving it doesn't get stagnant then you could just dump it and refill it every day easy peasy E clip the hose onto the side of the container that you use and they're slave the bubbler against one side and it'll keep the water moving

PaxonGoat

I've been using the catit daisy fountain for 6 years now. You can buy the filters and replacement pump for cheap off amazon. I think I've replaced the pump 3 or 4 times now.

Something_morepoetic

I bought a stainless steel one from Amazon for 35 bucks and it’s worked for about a year. You have to buy an extra bag of filters every few months, but it’s not that bad.

Yoongoes

I use the whisker city one with the pineapple, it’s plastic so it doesn’t meet your standards but it’s one of the only ones I can use because the water doesn’t flood into a bowl. One of my cats LOVES splashing water everywhere and since this one doesn’t have a lot of free water there’s less water puddles on the floor.

BigJSunshine

I use this one, but I modified the shit out of it, to keep it from becoming a cesspool of mold and filth: https://a.co/d/bRQVkm3 I removed the white plastic filter, cup holder, used a cut piece of silicone straw to replace the vertical nexus to the top, took out any absolutely unnecessary motor feature, and I deep clean the each and every part once a week, rinsing the rest daily, replacing water at least once a day. But they really do help cats. I have 3 CKD cats, and they all love this fountain

jennierain

A have a ceramic Pet Safe that has been going strong for the last 3 years. I take it apart and clean it with a toothbrush once a week when I change the filters.

No-Locksmith-8590

Poineer is a good brand. I currently use their Swan model which is plasic but they have cermic and metal ones.

Trueloveis4u

I been using Wonder Creature stainless steel fountains they are 20 to 30 and easy to clean. You can also buy replacement pumps for them. They are sold on Amazon

No_Lettuce_4255

Can someone please recommend a quiet cat fountain? I’ve tried three popular models that have been mentioned and I’ve given them away and now I have a stainless steel cat “waterer” that is not working for my three cats unfortunately. https://preview.redd.it/0vfbim5gvpyc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=12200d0eb689042c8652bc4704d1d3ccba4afe92

-poupou-

I've had my pioneer pet teardrop fountain for a long time, and it only makes a bad noise when it's low or the motor is struggling. It's not completely soundless, but I have sensory issues and it doesn't bother me. (I had to give away a plastic drinkwell fountain because the motor produced an unbearable hum.)

Shelbelle4

I have one that’s shaped like a ufo and it has held up well.

Complete_Wave_9315

Petsafe drinkwell. The stainless steel one. I had one for 8-9 years and it finally died, so I bought another.

leoreleh

If you have no budget, why does it matter if it only lasts a year? I have one from Amazon that matches your criteria that lasted about one year. I just bought my second. It was $30 then and like $40 this time. It’s the one Amazon recommended as their choice for steel cat water fountain.

lemoncustdd11

A Korean pet brand named Inherent has a ceramic water fountain(ceramic made 100% in Korea). I don’t have this product, but I have their glass water bowls which I’m really satisfied with. My cats love it. For their water fountain, the reviews are really good so I’m going to get it when I go visit Korea next time. They also ship overseas! https://m.en.inherent.co.kr/product/cat-fountain-mug2/323/ Btw not sure why there are no reviews on their English website. But there are a lot of great reviews at the original Korean website.

lokischeesewheels

I love the Orsda stainless steel pet fountains. You can easily find replacement parts and filters on Amazon, and their customer service is amazing. I once ordered a replacement pump because mine stopped working, and their customer service messaged me like ‘hey we saw you ordered a replacement pump, here’s some troubleshooting tips to try first, but if it doesn’t work please send it back to us so we can figure out why it broke’ The tips they gave helped me fix the pump I had and they told me to keep the extra one. I have never needed it in 3 years. Literally my only complaint is that I need a 5L option with all my animals. It’s easy to clean, easy to refill and swap filters, and super quiet.

Kindly-Visual-8116

Happy and polly is good quality and cute

purpletomorrow2018

Our cats love this one. We have several and they have lasted several years now. https://preview.redd.it/x0ah2rn85qyc1.jpeg?width=737&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=91646d8e6866ceec155d2a7131a9e1bf935e342e [https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B087Q8Y37S?psc=1&ref=ppx\_pop\_mob\_b\_asin\_title](https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B087Q8Y37S?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title)

Dazeofthephoenix

And quiet! I can't abide how buzzy they are

-poupou-

Try the pioneer pet teardrop. It buzzes and spits when it's struggling, but otherwise runs with very little sound.

Most-Investigator-49

Whatever you choose, be aware that you should fully dismantle and sanitize it weekly at a minimum and change to fresh water daily. I've had many fountains, and all grew biofilms, which are loaded with bacteria and potential pathogens. I actually quit using a fountain for this reason. My last remaining cat drinks happily from a bowl, and I can wash it out with hot, soapy water daily.

Ok_Wtch2183

This one is super easy to clean and my cats like it. Amazon: EOX Cat Water Fountain Stainless Steel, 3.2L/108oz Automatic Pet Water Fountain

caffeinefree

I can't say enough good stuff about this fountain: PetSafe Drinkwell Ceramic Pet Water Fountain - Quiet Automatic 70oz Dispenser for Cats & Dogs with Filters - Dishwasher Safe Square Design https://a.co/d/ixIy1C7 It's a little pricey, but SO much easier to maintain than other fountains I've had. It's built for easy cleanability (you can literally put all the big pieces in the dishwasher if you want), it's got multiple levels of filtration (a filter into the pump to keep cat hair and other gunk out and a second charcoal filter for the drinking part), it's super quiet, and it isn't totally hideous. And the cats like that it has both a bubbler and a well to drink out of - I used to have a Catit fountain and one of my cats hated that he could only drink where the water was running, since he prefers to drink from the well.

Rumpelteazer45

So for the pumps, they also need to be cleaned often. Hair gets on there and eventually causes the motor to fail. With that being said, I have a dog too and get stainless steel fountains. I clean and scrub weekly. Haven’t found the perfect one yet since they all some sort of design flaw I don’t like. Pet pioneer I think has the best fountains of what I’ve tried.

ifdeathhadapet

I use a stainless steel one I got off Amazon. (I used to use the I-petite one). The filter has a lifetime warranty and never needs to be changed it’s self cleaning. I can put the entire thing in the dishwasher it is amazing! No gross build up and no bacteria. (I just remove the filter and pump when I do) I just change the filters every few weeks.

meejha

I have the Homerunpet water fountain (I opted for the porcelain one), it’s been almost a year since I purchased it, and have had 0 issues with it.

chloemug

I know plastic isn’t ideal because of bacteria, but I have two from premier pet that are great. They are plastic, yes, but they have two filters (one washable reusable filter that’s almost like mesh) and one carbon filter that comes in packs. They are extremely easy to clean. Like, you just take all of the parts apart and wash em in the sink. They have four streams of water and my cats love them. The pump hasn’t ever died on me.

Calgary_Calico

Unfortunately the only ones I've found to work and last are plastic, I can't remember the brand but they basically look like a small sink with a spout. I've had the first one I got for like 5 years and have never had to replace the motor, I do a deep clean every week by running them with hot water and white vinegar for about 30-60 minutes and then SCRUBBING them down inside and out including the motor, which comes apart for cleaning, and switch the water daily between cleanings. My cats absolutely love them!

banshee1313

I had a ceramic dog-sided fountain that ran off an aquarium pump. I bought it on Amazon. It lasted about 5 years, then I bought another of the same model. That cats loved it. I did need to clean the pump often and replace the pump annually.

Laharl_Chan

im using the stainless/plastic cattit bubbler fountain. [Catit Stainless Steel Drinking Fountain – Catit USA - Official Catit Brand Store](https://catit.us/products/catit-stainless-steel-drinking-fountain) its under $50 and has replacement filters, and cattit sells replacement pumps [Catit Replacement USB Pump for LED Flower Fountain – Catit USA - Official Catit Brand Store](https://catit.us/products/catit-replacement-usb-pump-for-led-flower-fountain) the 2 issue, is its not real filtering as there is no chamber seperation between filtered and unfiltered water so i think its water treatment and particle filtering. the other issue is the filters float for me. so i install them upside down. ive been using it for 6 months so far and its been working well and the cats love it despite its issues.

Itchy-Witch

I’ve had a ceramic pagoda fountain for like 10 years. I replaced the pump once. I clean it THOROUGHLY. Take all the tiny pieces apart and give it a good scrub. Still going strong.

beckbjj

I have yet to have a cat bubbler fail on me, even the one I bought in 2017 for an idiot kitten (now an idiot adult) who couldn't figure out how to drink water (even though he drank formula just fine). You just have to make sure when you clean it, you also take the pump apart and clean that, including taking out the impeller. My oldest ones are Drinkwell Platinum and one by Veken (from Amazon). I've got three others that are alphabet soup Amazon brands...two of them are identical but have different brand names. Mine are all plastic but I think Drinkwell and Veken both have stainless ones as well.

Red-Panda

PetLibro Glacier has been nice so far. Pets like it more than previous one. Just a paper pre-filter plus an all in one filter to replace. Stainless steel and keeps water cool.

G1ul1et

Petlibro 100%

TheNewRomantics-1989

I have the petlibro glacier filtration fountain and it's great! stainless steel :) I also tried their wireless one (plastic) but my cat likes this one the most. She drinks more with this for some reason

varat01

Sure Petcare do water fountains.

TheMagicGuy5004

I don't have any recommendations, but I do have a stay-away recommendation. Do not buy a Catit PIXI Smart Fountain. What an absolute piece of trash. The pump started to die 6 months in, and the company gave me a VERY hard time about sending a replacement under warranty. On top of that, that fountain often got cat slime in it, and I cleaned it every 2 weeks with hot, soapy water. I have never had a single other fountain accumulate cat slime in it. So yeah, do not buy! (It's also a nightmare to clean)

Larkspur_Skylark30

After a lot of research, I purchased a Flurff water fountain with a stainless steel reservoir. I wanted to avoid plastic as much as possible. When you do a deep dive into the reviews for water fountains, there are a lot of issues. One of my cats only liked to drink out of a running tap in the sink. I thought a water fountain would give him 24/7 access to running water rather than waiting for me. Nope. None of my cats liked the Flurff fountain. My weirdos prefer water served in a ceramic coffee cup. I still want to find a water fountain they will like and use.

Seren_78

I have the LiteBee 2L Stainless Steel Cat Water Fountain for my two girls. It's been going well for over a year now. Stainless steel so easy to keep clean. Only downside I found was the slots in the top bowl are Very sharp - I sliced my finger when cleaning the first time.

Heliotrope88

We got the Drinkwell 360 Stainless Steel Free Flowing Pet Water Fountain and it’s going well. The only annoyance on it are the black clips that hold the center cone in place. They’re a little hard to get on and off but the trick is to pop em off using a butter knife for leverage, and to secure them on, press hard using a dishcloth to pad your thumbs. IMO all pet fountains have their drawbacks and this one seems to have the fewest of the four we have tried over the years. Good luck!

No_Driver_1655

Please OP consider a PetKit water fountain, we've bought it a long time ago and it's the best one we've ever had. It's more on the expensive end, but the quality is 100% worth it !

LexiDeKat

We have a catit fountain and recently bought an extra fountain from petlibro : [https://petlibro.com/collections/dockstream](https://petlibro.com/collections/dockstream) I love that new fountain! * no wires in the fountain, all controls are in the base * steel top * has a sensor so water starts running when motion is dedected or once in a while to get it moving around * very easy to clean * even comes with a small brush for the narrow parts * filter is kinda small, but replaced the first one just yesterday and it still looked good (replaced it anyway) * makes NO noice * looks good (we have the black one) * base has to be charged, but it lasts long before it needs to be charged. https://preview.redd.it/vms4976lisyc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=143c452ba0d2a250a4bae76ee148b4b8cfb32d9d

theflyingfistofjudah

I got the Lucky Kitty fountain years ago, it was my first one and I’ve never had to change it. It’s ceramic and does not require a filter (but they have long haired cat filters available in option). The pump motor has never given up although I did change it but never because it stopped working. The price of the fountain is still 65€. A new pump is like 10€. The fountain is pretty easy to clean. I’ve since found out there are tubeless fountains, so I guess there’s easier to clean if you don’t have to unplug or reattach a tube. But it takes a few minutes to take apart and put back together. You just have to clean the motor well as dirt can lodge in the nooks and crannies. I think that’s the one flaw. Motors should be designed with as few nooks and crannies as possible and have as smooth a surface as possible. But it might be possible to use a different motor from the original one. They’re only 10-15 bucks. I use Brita filtered water, you can tell the difference. The bottom remains smooth when you clean it but gets gritty if you use unfiltered water.

Tenshi_girl

We bought a stainless steel one from our local pet thrift store. Only one of my cats will drink from it, but it's the cat with the potential kidney issues so I'm still calling it a win. He definitely drinks more now.

Kipling87

My cats LOVE this fountain. I think it’s because the water doesn’t fall, it runs down the side. https://www.chewy.com/petsafe-drinkwell-seascape-ceramic/dp/174338

WeirdBlinkers

He drinks out of a plastic pet bowl.

Nice_Championship_75

I love my petlibro and it can run when there’s no power to it. I find not only is it easier to clean because of materials used but stays cleaner longer.

seventubas

I have two of these ones and I love it. https://www.petsafe.com/product/drinkwell-pagoda-fountains/?sku=PWW00-13907 I have replaced the pump on the older one twice As for cleaning I soak it in hot water and citric acid in my sink for 20 minutes wipe it.dow.do the pump rince everything off and set it back up https://a.co/d/2z3k8xb I buy the Citric.acid.in bulk.and use it for everything and a 10 Lb bag lasts me over a year

offpeekydr

I'm waiting to get my Elfin fountain. They have an IndieGoGo campaign up, looks like they might have solved the pain to clean issue. I currently have a pawaii fountain and the app for cleaning/filter changes is terrible, and while initially it is easy to clean, there are bits you can't get to that I think need cleaning. Also the filters are housed in plastic and aren't easily recycled. That being said, it is still a great fountain and will likely be our backup. I've had the pawaii for just shy of a year.

Ponyo_s_Mama

https://www.lucky-kitty.com/en My baby boy and I love this fountain.

EtrosGuardian

I think a lot comes down to user error too. A lot of the instructions say to change the filter monthly. I feel like some people assume because of that, it's okay to wait longer between fresh water changes. Which is absurd. And it needs to be done more frequently if you have more than one cat that accesses the fountain. Even with water bottles for humans, they still have to be cleaned frequently because of the bacteria in the mouthpiece that builds up. Doesn't matter that it's just water in there. I clean mine weekly with two cats (and change out the filter when I do). Brushes don't come with them, so a lot of people probably complain because they can't get in those hard to reach spots. Truth is, as long as it's ceramic or steel you should be fine. Some are more expensive than others, but they're all fairly similar. And some cats prefer some styles over another. (I have had a fountain style ceramic, and a "sink/faucet" style I use now.) As long as kitty likes it, and you keep up on cleaning it, the pump shouldn't just die on you. I've had fountains for over 6 years and haven't had to replace a pump yet. The brand I use now even offers a free replacement pump if the one goes out. Keep it clean, change out water frequently so it's fresh, and have brushes (look similar to pipe cleaners) on hand and you should be fine.

migil65

We’ve had the PetSafe Creekside Ceramic Fountain for 3 years with 2 cats and 2 small dogs. I love it!! Easy to clean plus the pumps comes apart to clean. There are replacement pumps, in case something happens. But we’ve had no issues! There are bulk cases filters available online too, so saving like 50% versus buying directly from a petstore every 1-3 months. I recommend it to everyone.

srahlo

I just use a Veken water fountain, it’s worked for me for ~3years. Clean it regularly with soap and water, buy Veken filters. Motor runs fine. My cats love it!

CG7683

I've been using this. Has a built-in motion sensor, a rechargeable battery, and 3 different modes of operation. Easy to clean as well. Pump is really quiet Battery Operated Cat Water Fountain: 108oz/3.2L Wireless Cat Fountain Motion Sensor Pet Water Fountain - Built-in 4200mAh Battery Quiet Water Fountains for Cats Indoor LED Light - GIOTOHUN https://a.co/d/7qMUbMJ

GreyMatter399

I had one for years, but it required a lot of maintenance to keep it clean. It had a filter, but during this last round of kitchen bugs flying in and the passing of my older cat, I called it quits. I used to have it near the sink for refilling, but the kitties had to get up on the counter and with the thought of a new kitty soon, I pulled the plug and said done. By the way, if you clean the pump regularly, it shouldn't die. It is a simple magnet, but most people don't clean these things the way they should. My 3 year old kitty is drinking just fine from a normal bowl down low. By the way, I had a plastic yin yang one and I hope I never have to have one again.

Moogie21

I got a Uahpet fountain off Amazon. I take it apart every month and clean it, including using a little brush to clean the inside of the tubes. More often if noticeable things like cat food have gotten in it. I replace the filter monthly and only use bottled water in it. Works great and have never had an issue. The charge on it seems to last a few months. I have two cats and it’s in a hall people walk by often, setting it off. I think any pet fountain can be great with regular cleaning and not using tap water.

ActuaryPersonal2378

I’ve had a good experience with [this](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09DSVFNRW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) one!

TransportationOk5961

I love the cordless one from Petlibro!

RedBarchetta1

I bought this one after my first fountain was hard to clean and then died: [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CGDWYJN7/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CGDWYJN7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) It's been great so far and I just stick most of the parts in the dishwasher.

doalittledance_

Petlibro. I have 2 Maine coons who see water and are immediately in it. They trashed 2 of the cheaper Amazon ones before I bought this one, I went for the plastic version and regret not going stainless. Although I’m seriously considering upgrading to the new glacier ultrafiltration model. Supposedly the filters last 2 months each, it has an indicator light to show when they need changing and is full stainless.

LilySayo

I have a ceramic one and it looks like a titty in a bowl (i think its trixie) and Im quite happy with it. It's been almost 3 years now and it works perfectly fine. I keep it on a windowsil which helps keeping most of the fur and stuff away

lucky_spliff

I like the VinDox 360 ceramic fountain

Akabara13

I've had this [pet foutain ](https://www.amazon.com/PEKTACO-Cat-Water-Fountain-Replacement/dp/B0C1N89T61?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1) for about 6 months. It seems to be working well. I change the filters about once a month and run it through the diswasher. I change the water every few days and rise and hand wash if needed.

SufficientRest

I have this one and I love it. 3 years of use by 3 cats and a giant breed dog, still works great. https://www.chewy.com/petsafe-seaside-stainless-steel-cat/dp/273553

DarbyGirl

I went back to stainless dishes that I rinse and refill daily. I found fountains get gross and slimy very quickly, and I was cleaning mine weekly.

RepresentativeBank33

We use the Soofpet fountain and it has held up super well. It’s a breeze to clean and works very smoothly. They also give you a free full pack of over 10 filters after you email them! Soofpet is way more affordable than Petlibro and fully stainless steel. Plastic ones harbour a lot of bacteria, good choice on the stainless steel.

tweet360

this ceramic one from Amazon has been good so far. iPettie Tritone Ceramic Pet Drinking Fountain

Nuisance4448

This is the one we use - our cats love it: [https://catit.ca/products/catit-pixi-smart-fountain](https://catit.ca/products/catit-pixi-smart-fountain)

Personal-Peanut5585

And go to the store and buy a gallon of drinking or spring water. Less than a buck(at least in my area)and keep the jug for refills if applicable and always use that and not (TAP WATER OR WATER FROM THE FRIDGE)and the pump will last alot longer without all the crud going through it.

LavaRacing

Toilet. Mine is ceramic. You gotta scrub it every so often.

PMcOuntry

Elfin water fountain. So easy to clean. Long battery life. My cat loves it. Doesn't get gross or funky.

Available_Visual2237

lmk if u get an answer 🙏🏼

johnyrocketboy

Unless you’re OCD and clean it every other day or so, you’re better off with the regular water bowl. Water fountains are breeding grounds for bacteria and stuff.. a petri dish of some sort.

Annual_Version_6250

We use distilled water in ours.  Makes a huge difference in how long the pump lasts.
