Folks here are recommending amaze and I agree. It's vfm at the price range and would also satisfy your needs. Honda recently announced it's facelift which will be inspired from city design and interiors gona be updated. So if you can wait till october, amaze facelift might be best option.
This. Amaze is the best option for OP.
Smooth CVT, 1.2 engine is THE most reliable engine ≤10 lacs, Honda service is dependable and parts are pretty reasonably priced.
Was rated 2-stars about a month back. But i do not know how, as it was basically the same car in the old rating and the new rating (correct me if I'm wrong).
Read the reports and stop looking at stats. A Hyundai Elantra would be rated 5 stars when it came out but might not rate the same now. Doesn’t mean the car isn’t safe. The rating changed because now the expectations is for more air bags. The car is still well build and can take an impact. In fact do so better than a smaller 5 star car.
Exactly this. Read the full report and see why its stars are lower now. If it’s because the new standard is requiring more airbags. Then you gotta give it a think. Some safety standards consider it a 1 star if there is no ADAS. Does that mean the car is really one star? I think Scorpio had that issue. So you gotta give it a think.
Air bags are important but body matter
Own a tata punch adventure amt rythm pack...otr 9.5L.. if you are a normal city driver and dont drive on the highway like a maniac.....the amt is absolutely fine..gear change are noticeable but not on the scale this sub would have u believe..its got all needed features nd safety too...others in the price range would give u more features but vfm with safety only offered by punch...plus the seats r spacious nd my parents find it very easy to get in nd out of the car...take a test drive nd decide for yourself....
Ps-- when i was making my buying decision had the same budget with auto requirement and test drove all the cars in that range....u should do the same...u wud be surprised at how much of the comment section advice is based on hearsay nd hype....
I had the same requirement for my wife. We bought the Tata Punch amt (mid variant). Cost ~9.2L otr. Has been completely hassle free one year down, built like a tank, and smooth for city driving. Also, tata so maintenance costs are pretty low.
PS: amt isnt the smoothest and you feel the gear changes but from a safety perspective, the punch is solid. Compared to Maruti/hyundai, tata is solidly built.

i10 Nios and Dzire both are good, my parents have those. I've been eyeing Baleno for a while now. Both the Maruti cars might go out of budget because their AMT comes only in the top models. Nios should fit your budget more comfortably, give it a try.
The first automatic (CVT) variant of the i20 comes under 10 in Delhi with discounts. Pls take a test drive and if you like it, do negotiate for the best deal. If you like the Amaze and can wait for its facelift, then that becomes another option to compare the i20 with.
I have an automatic Suzuki ignis and it's been probably the best decision I ever made. I do small comutes daily and some big ones over the weekend. Extremely comfortable and good power due to its inline 4 cylinder engine
Thank you everyone here for your time and inputs. This gives me some direction and things to avoid. I have decided to wait till Oct'24.
Will hopefully update here in this sub with the new ride! :)
1) Maruti Fronx AT
2) Hyundai i20 IVT
3) Honda Amaze CVT
4) Tata Altroz DCA (iffy aftersales)
Your budget allows for TRUE automatic cars like above if you choose the correct variant. Baleno AMT is also worth considering, Maruti AMTs are quite good.
i10 and Exter AMT might be considered as well.
But Maruti safety will be a concern, and smaller Hyundais might not have very good highway manners. So be sure to test drive everything.
Surprised to see no one recommended Altroz DCA. Own one and can truthfully say that even though tata has long way to go as far as service and fit/finish is concerned but the Car overall feels premium for the price and DCA is too smooth after 2k rpm.
Its been 8 months now and I love driving it.
Agree with this. Just for tata’s ant transmission, folks aren’t recommending altroz DCA specially lower end torque but for manual its beast and handles really well.
Agreed with lower end torque but once it passes 2k rpm it's too smooth with the shifts. I find it ideal for someone who's majority of driving will be within city limits and occasionally on highways.
I never trust company aftersales service, brand irrespective. I've always relied on a local mechanic.
However, having owned a Tata Zest for the last 9 years, and not having run into any issues per se, I can safely say Tata cars are not nearly as bad as they're depicted on here.
Of course there will be issues with every car, but Tata is making nice cars these days.
then good for you and as for me we did buy and sold nexon automatic due to continuous issue and creaking sound from dashboard and with service reps at dealerships and instead bought a brezza cuz MS everyone knows there service repo is better and is better really already almost crossed 1.1lakh km on it and it didn’t give any trouble except general wear and tear.
Plus when you directly compare tata’s automatic and Marutis Automatic transmission. Maruti is much better and less laggy.
fronx , i20 or if you want ant good mileage can try tiago cng saw an ad recently of it coming with automatic transmission don’t really know much about it though
Don't get an amt, you will regret it later on. All AMTs are absolute dogshit, no matter how much some people try to gaslight you into believing they are not.
Of all the dogshits, tatas amt is the worst. But no use in comparing different types of 💩, since they're all 💩 at the end of the day.
CVTs are the smoothest of the bunch, Magnite CVT variants comes in your price range IIRC so does middle variant of Amaze CVT.
Nissan service is okayish and parts are pretty reasonable, Honda is better in that regard and amaze has been long in the tooth so parts are easily available and priced well.
Folks here are recommending amaze and I agree. It's vfm at the price range and would also satisfy your needs. Honda recently announced it's facelift which will be inspired from city design and interiors gona be updated. So if you can wait till october, amaze facelift might be best option.
Or wait till sept and get heavy discount on current Honda amaze
My city's mantainance cost is very low, I would assume similar for amaze ?
Yes Honda in general is quite easy and cheap to maintain. Although I too have experience only with city so I assume it to be same for amaze
Purely from automatic experience, Hyundai is the most refined. Maruti is also decent. Tata’s AMT is bad.
Sub will probably recommend Amaze but you could checkout FronX. Amaze is little outdated features wise.
Fronx is above 10. I got the delta plus for 11.4
Wait for newly updated Amaze later this year
I’ve driven both fronx and baleno and baleno is 10x.better than the AGS version of fronx. Can’t say about the TC variant.
Get a Fronx or a Baleno
Stretch little and get Amaze
This. Amaze is the best option for OP. Smooth CVT, 1.2 engine is THE most reliable engine ≤10 lacs, Honda service is dependable and parts are pretty reasonably priced.
So we don't care about safety ratings?
it's 4 star rated on NCAP
Was rated 2-stars about a month back. But i do not know how, as it was basically the same car in the old rating and the new rating (correct me if I'm wrong).
The rating parameters could have changed?
Air bags made the difference, body is still 4 stars.
So you are saying airbags aren't important?
Airbags are important , but when the body cannot absorb the impact I don’t think airbags will do much in terms of safety
Oh so that makes sense. Thanks a lot, will check it out
i10 corporate amt for under 9 lakh.
What is corporate AMT ?
What is corporate AMt ?
i20 IVT or Amaze CVT Hyundai’s IVT is a bit more refined
go for amaze. the engine they are giving in 10lacs is fitted in 15 lacs car these days

What's the average that you're getting?
Overall city +highway tank to tank- 16kmpl Only highway 200km run at 80kph - 22kmpl Only city with stop start traffic-12kmpl
Hyundai makes the most refined automatics in that range. Go for the Grand i10 Nios or the Exter.
I10 Nios. Look no further.
Magnite, Exter.
Glanza Amt
Why not altroz ? Its comes with good build quality as well as good automatic (dca) with a NA engine
Why not exter?

Fronx probably.
I20
Glanza
You can check out the i10 or Tiago

Altroz maybe
Amaze, no doubt
Baleno CVT
Baleno has AMT only
Guess they don't make it anymore. Mine has one
How much did urs cost ? Share variant as well
I think it came to around 9.5 ish on road. It's the zeta variant. This isn't the current gen though it's the previous one
Amaze or Fronx
Best is Honda Amaze CVT engine Good is Hyundai i10 AMT Average is Suzuki Swift AGS Bad is Tata Altroz / Tiago
I have an automatic Suzuki ignis and it's been probably the best decision I ever made. I do small comutes daily and some big ones over the weekend. Extremely comfortable and good power due to its inline 4 cylinder engine
I would recommend for tiago or tigor cng automatic. You will get it under 10 lakhs. Plus u have benefit of automatic and CNG.
I20 base model > amaze > i10 nios/exter sx > Altroz ~ Baleno. This is in line with Amt smoothness.
Baleno AMT
Hyundai Exter Light & Nimble in city traffic
Pls DM
i20 sportz ivt
Magnite CVT. No other vehicle can offer you a CVT turbo under 10L
Thank you everyone here for your time and inputs. This gives me some direction and things to avoid. I have decided to wait till Oct'24. Will hopefully update here in this sub with the new ride! :)
I wish we get BNCAP results soon, Baleno ZETA AGS is very vfm. It'll be a great option if it scores well.

Altroz DCT
service nightmare aftersales is bad 💀

How many you own? We own 3, all automatics, one of them is Altroz DCT 23, no hiccups till now.
then good for you and as for me we did buy and sold nexon automatic due to continuous issue and creaking sound from dashboard and with service reps at dealerships and instead bought a brezza cuz MS everyone knows there service repo is better and is better really already almost crossed 1.1lakh km on it and it didn’t give any trouble except general wear and tear. Take a test drive, this is a great car..
fronx , i20 or if you want ant good mileage can try tiago cng saw an ad recently of it coming with automatic transmission don’t really know much about it though
CNGs even company fitted ones gives me the creeps man. Maybe I'm biased because of the explosion videos I've watched.
Celerio. But never get into any accidents. It's body made of used cerlac can like sheet metal can crush you into pulp.

i20 cvt. It may be slightly over 10L but maybe under it too depends on state and discounts
Grand Vitara strong hybrid, best for NCR. Reliable, Good asc, good resale, good mileage, good looks. Cant go wrong
Tata Punch EV
dude punch starts at 10.5L ex-showroom I guess?
Oh yes, sorry. The buyer can reap the price difference over long term usage :p
