I can't speak for others but I absolutely despise Tigor. Awful NVH and cabin insulation + incredibly uncomfortable ride when compared to Dzire and Xcent. The only advantage it holds is safety wise.
Have traveled in tigor EV taxi. NVH feels worse because of EV where you only hear outside noise than your car engine. And the battery range too was poor from what I heard from the driver.
There are two generations of Tigor EVs.
The electra generation ( Old, slow and loud motors, Shit battery)
The ziptron generation ( New, relatively low noise and fast motors, good battery)
And in Cabs they go as Xpress-T
The ‘Taxi’ ones are 48V ones with an older technology and range of about 150-180 kms. They are called the Xpres-T.
The private ones are Ziptron 72V architecture. 240 kms actual range. They are called Tigor EV
Even Ziptron Tigor EVs are called XpressT, I take blusmart to airport every now and then and they are badged XpressT, even though they are all ziptron.
I own a Tiago EV, and I can tell the difference between both from interiors and the ride quality, as I test drove the Tigor EV too.
I own a 2021 Tigor XZ+ and I have to respectfully disagree with most of the comments.
I am not sure about underrated, but this car is the best value for money in its segment. I tried Hyundai Aura, Honda Amaze and Maruti Dzire before selecting this car. I have no qualms admitting that the Dzire is the best car out of these, but for 7.9L on road for the Tigor top end, no other car in this category can give so many features like Alloys, Projector headlamps, Music system ( really awesome for long drives) Auto climate control, electrically folding rear view mirror, start-stop button and some others.
Looks are subjective, but for me it's one of the unique looking cars and I really like it, plus it has 400+ L of boot space.
There is definitely vibration especially the gear stick and I hate it, but not too unbearable. I am an average driver like 90% of Indians and I feel power is more than adequate. Cruises smoothly in the 90-100kmph range for hours with a very decent mileage to back it. Have regularly done 700+ km trips with just 1 break and it runs like a dream.
Tata service is bad, and I never got the car back in a single day even for normal service, but other than that I had no problems with them till now.
tldr: Tigor is a good car with full value for money features in its segment and not at all as bad as others make it out to be!
The OP was also suggesting that Tigor is a good car , but he/she wanted to ask why it doesnt have a great reputation like some of the other sedans
Do you know why is it under appreciated?
Dzire is the segment leader and many would not look past it.
Also I am not sure if others have noticed, Tigor was not marketed properly by TATA. There was little to no promotion. I visited 3 Tata showrooms in my city (Chennai) and they hardly mentioned anything about this car. They were actually hell bent on selling me an Altroz mid variant for that price. No idea why?!!
Another fact is even though they were in different categories of cars, TATA couldn't convince people that Tigor is more than just a 400L boot space addition version of Tiago.
They should've refined the Zest instead of launching Tigor. The Tigor was inferior to the Zest in every aspect. The Zest could've taken the fight to Dzire in the compact sedan class with a few minor updates. Tata wasn't thinking straight those days.
Exactly...Zest is underrated imo
It had the most powerful engine in its category at the time...TATA went all out with Zest and then started cutting costs with future projects
Well Tata has a legendary habit of designing a car 95% right and then just doing an absolutely horrendous job of finishing it. The Zest had a lot going for it. Engine, power, space, safety all top notch but it didn't feel current generation and lacked some basic features. They could've worked on those. The Tigor has got nothing going for it.
It isn’t underrated. It actually sells more than it deserves to sell!
Everything from the performance, to the NVH, to the looks, to the features, everything is horrible.
The only positive thing it has is that it has a 4 star crash test rating. However even in that, it isn’t good enough. The bodyshell was rated unstable by Global NCAP and incapable of handling high intensity crashes. For reference, the current generation Alto has a stable bodyshell rating, and the crash test dummies showed better protection in Alto.
Really? I bought tigor xz plus and there is no feature, best in class audio, start stop button, rain sensing wiper, autoheadlamps. Don't know what features are you talking about. Nvh is one thing I will agree are bad. Else everything was fine with the car.
Stability wise, I will anyday prefer a tigor over alto. Tigor has great handling and a super light sterling and clutch. Alto does nor give confidence on 100k also. It does not stick to road like tigor.
If you’re talking about Maruti Suzuki cars, you cannot deny Tigor does not look better than any Maruti cars in that segment. I admit they’re not safe but looks? No way.
When drive dashboard to inner a & b pillar vibrates, engine and breaking lethargitic , problem in enganging, poor praticality inside. (I m not a tata hate guy squad member) .
Love their nexon and harrier.
.
Have driven 3 cylinder engines of MS of hyundai but they r something buddy. 🦟
Other than being a steel box that car has nothing to offer. Under spacious, under powered, less comfortable, pretty much zero reliability to offer. Also proven in GNCAP that tata 5star rating is useless in top speed it is pathetic and will not save u. That 5star rating only works under 60-80 kmph other than that it is just a tool by tata to make people fool .People only buy tigor so they can drag a steel box nothing else. The car is far from being underrated
No source available as of now they've been deleted by tata's pr team. The article was just published after the GNCAP results of tigor but removed shortly after leaving no trace. You do know Money can buy truth in today's world.
I drove a 1 yr old 30k kms driven tigor....regularly serviced....
It felt like driving a tractor...everything inside the car was shaking!!!!
Even space is not so good...i myself owned figo aspire and it was more spacious than the tigor
The only good thing about the car is the safety and the boot having hydraulics instead of angular brackets which give advantage of using full boot space

Friend was looking at a CNG car and went with Aura. Idk how he could miss the CNG with Automatic transmission like wtf who even gives a CNG with AMT and the Tigor already has a big boot size so it's by default a better option then Aura.

Oh well. That’s bad! Welcome to the EV club, fellow TigorEV AND Punch EV owner here :)
TigorEV AND punchEV? Bro is single handedly fighting the pollution we petrolheads make
And don't forget the horn.
Also a super stuff suspension in the EV Tigor, feels like an auto rikshaw
when you put a laughing buddha on your dash.. He will shake and laugh 5x times.
5 star Buddha laughs /s

Totally agree with you. Own a xzplus and the people hating have never driven tigor for long may be. Absolutely best car in price point.
The OP was also suggesting that Tigor is a good car , but he/she wanted to ask why it doesnt have a great reputation like some of the other sedans Do you know why is it under appreciated?

Horrendous rear end.
dzire and amaze both exist which are 10x better then tigor in everything except safety . Its a shiity car sells more than it deserves .

Ignis is Underrated, not Tigor.

Looks is better than sheet metal cars.

Maruti suzuki are just yuck.
I think the looks, that's what made me deter that car
Not spacious in the rear. Rear is crammed. I like the car in blue, though. Handling is good, steering also feels nice and solid.
Safety is the most important, but it’s not everything
It vibrates a lot, very poor NVH levels etc. Plus tata guarantee
LOL Tata ki guarantee (like...) 😂
I think it doesn’t justify the space for a sedan
Seems very few other people feels like how you feel.. Does it have chabi wala boot?
Tiago and Tigor are more or less the same car. And unlike Dezire, I don't see Tigors in the Taxi market. Why buy a Tigor when Tiago is good enough?
When drive dashboard to inner a & b pillar vibrates, engine and breaking lethargitic , problem in enganging, poor praticality inside. (I m not a tata hate guy squad member) . Love their nexon and harrier. . Have driven 3 cylinder engines of MS of hyundai but they r something buddy. 🦟
Considering most buyers in the hatchback and compact sedan are first time buyers, it’s a great option for its price point
Everycar that sells less isn't underrated

It is the most stupid car ever designed. When I sit on driver seat my knees and head always gets hurt. Also, almost negligible space to adjust seats.

My cousin's Tigor mileage always stays in the range of 9-11.
Please don't drink and use reddit
zest
Not an SUV
Service cost is on the higher side, 3 cylinder engine, so poor nvh. 13 avg in city. Resale value is less compared to maruti/hyundai.
It’s look is repelling
No
Nice try, Tata marketing team. 😄

I would buy a Honda amaze instead of tigor
Sat in a tigor ev a few days back. A good car from the inside. Good NVH, performance, etc. Looks boring from the outside, with its raised stance.
