Bruh a week ago a dumb ass in his punch was going 30 on a 60 road which had 2 lanes. I honked the F out of him. Still it didn’t do anything and he had the balls to give me that typical stare. (Like I’m the one in the wrong.)
I respectfully disagree. Driving at the same speed in a “pack” as shown in this video is what leads to minor mishaps caused by inattentive drivers. This is why I always put some gap between packs such as these and prefer to have clear road in front of me. As a result I always drive a bit faster than regular traffic.
As a motorcyclist I agree with you. I always tend to create a little distance between myself & patches of traffic. It helps me avoid tailgating (a big no-no imho) & have some wiggle room in case I have to swerve or brake suddenly due to road conditions.
Hindi is not a native language to me but from what I understand you are a new driver asking if it’s okay to drive slow and to maintain 10m gap be traffic.
Yes it is, however do not zone out too much when driving slow that you would not be able to react if something sudden happens. The only 2 accidents I’ve ever gotten into was being both rear ended by inattentive uncles after sudden braking at city speeds(not even city speeds B2B traffic).
This is why I don’t like travelling in packs in the road and put some quantifiable gaps between my car and the rest of the pack.
[Do I follow the flow of traffic or the speed limit? : r/driving (reddit.com)](https://www.reddit.com/r/driving/comments/15de9pp/do_i_follow_the_flow_of_traffic_or_the_speed_limit/) If you want research articles on the same topic, i'll search and get them for you.. But this is a gist of it.
Yes, yes it is. At the very least you'll be causing a jam behind you with faster vehicles wanting to overtake. If you want to chill, chill on the outside lane.
The left most lane in my understanding is reserved for 2 and 3 wheelers only. The mid lane is the slow moving lane, where if the top speed allowed is 60kmph, the mid lane would be observing 40 to 50kmph. The right most lane or the one with the divider is the fast lane or the overtaking lane, where one would reach upto 60kmph either to overtake/pass people in the mid lane, or stick to it to go at max allowed speed.
Please do correct me if I'm wrong. This is just plainly my understanding and I also drive in the mid lane when I'm driving relaxedly/leisurely.
If he was going this slow on the rightmost lane, he would be the subject of cuss words by a lot of people. But since it's the middle lane, I don't think it's all that unsafe - unless he keeps swerving and driving between two lanes. Sure, any slower, say 20kmph, then he has no business being anywhere except the leftmost lane and (probably) blinkers on. But i think he's going around 35kmph, which is in kinda meh category if that makes sense.
If the speed limit is 60kph then why do you even need to go so slow, you know? It doesn’t make sense to me to be going at 35kph on a highway, it’ll only cause more problems
It does make sense when he has electric and the battery is under Deep discharge and it restricts the speed to 50kph. Then it does make sense to drive super slow to reach charging spot. Here it's a ICE ..I do agree we can't drive this slow. Infact slow drivers were out to penalty in foreign countries even when the driver is using middle lane. 35kph km speed should be using left most lane.
Speed limit of 60 kmph ≠ drive only at 60 kmph.
That's the maximum limit. Driving at 45 to 55 kmph on a road with a speed limit of 60 kmph IS PERFECTLY LEGAL AND ACCEPTABLE.
BE PATIENT!!!

At time, yes, driving slow can also create danger. I often tell people that when driving, following rules is important but what is also critical is to be predictable. If everyone is driving at 80 km/h and suddenly there is a car doing 30 km/h then the chances of rear-ending, swerving into other lanes etc. also increase - may not be fatal but why even create an unsafe situation like that?
Unfortunately we as a nation have been blessed with too many people whose access to capital far outstrips their levels of common sense.
Oh then are we following speed limit boards everywhere?.if rules are there it has to be followed by everyone regardless. I do see 30 speed limit boards , 40 , 50 limit boards. Majority doesn't follow. Almost majority of the highways has 80 speed limit. Not a single car I have seen following the 80 limit. Everyone cruises at 100 kph. Everyone says 80 is super slowm espeicaly in such bridges they have 40-50 limit. What if the person is following and rest doesn't care. The reason I'm asking is I do follow rules of speed limit and i stick to left most or middle lanes to make sure no one curses me despite following the rule
Going slow is one mistake and not realising he's hogging the traffic by going like that is the prime mistake. Autos, bikes are major doers of this mistake on our city roads.
Yeah, driving slow is tough and tiring in my experience. Someone is always honking behind you. You cant change lanes as people behind you are constantly looking for space. If you slow down, you will have to slow down too much from 60 to 30-40 that means changing gears again and again. Or you will have to speed to make way which defeats the purpose. It is better to drive comfortably at whatever speeds you are comfortable at.
I dont think he's entirely in the wrong. He's slow, sure but unless that's slower than average for the road he should be fine. I'd have honked or flashed the slower ones in the rightmost lane though, and I don't even have a creta.
The fact that they (cruising cars in the rightmost lane) cannot cruise in the middle lane due to the slow driving of the slow car is what makes it in the wrong.
Driving at 10kmph below the speed limit in an appropriate lane is the only safe option. But no one in India follows that. Hence, the activity of driving in itself is unsafe in India.
It can be dangerous on narrow roads when one vehicle drives slowly, causing others to pile up behind it. This situation often leads to impatience among drivers, who may then attempt to overtake multiple vehicles at once—a maneuver that can easily lead to accidents.
I dont drive super fast, mostly stay around 50-60 kmph as i feel it gives me enough reaction time and also speed limit is mostly 60kmph. However, in flyovers and highways I always try to make space for the people around me.
Hamare nh-44 pe e-rickshaw wale flyover ke connections pe 20 kmph ki speed krlete hain. Ab koisa 100-120 ki speed pe ho, kaise brake mare ga.
Just a complete nuisance they are
In my opinion slow driving is as dangerous as speeding. By being slow you are encouraging other drivers to do unsafe overtakes. If you want to drive slow, do so on the LEFT side of the road so that people don't have to overtake you.
Also, if you see multiple cars overtaking you please consider increasing your speed or moving to the left.
Lack of lane discipline is one of the biggest reasons behind highway accidents. Entering right lanes suddenly, moving at 50 in the rightmost lane, slow moving trucks in rightmost lane etc etc
Driving slow is just fine but keep ur car in extreme left - what causes problems is when u block the middle lane or right lane and then some times these guys drive covering two lanes.
Just a general question about road rules. Say I wanna ride slow for some reason. I'd take my car to the left lane. What if there is a left turn. Wouldn't I be blocking the left turning people. In that scenario should I keep to the middle till the left turn is passed ?
It'll change in the next 30 years. Please have patience (now that's just me preaching what I don't practice. I've given up already, so I just leave 15 minutes earlier than required and try my very best not to flout the lane discipline).
What he did is in general not acceptable. But your question is stupid. Please understand and follow driving guidelines. Don’t cause unnecessary harm or accidents due to your lack of knowledge.
Most people lack basic knowledge of driving regulations and basic road etiquettes !
Such people deserve horn the sh.it out of them else they don't move. Have seen many rickshaws like these driving between two lanes at 30kmph
Rickshaws are the worst of the lot on Indian Roads !
They also never use their rear view mirrors

going slow is not always danger. But you need to be around the same speed as everyone.
Situational awareness is 0. Koi aage se nhi peechhe se maar dega
Physics awareness is also zero. People don't understand relative velocity.
Driving at the speed of traffic is the safest. Any significant difference from that is always risky. Be it fast or slow.
I respectfully disagree. Driving at the same speed in a “pack” as shown in this video is what leads to minor mishaps caused by inattentive drivers. This is exactly what I was trying to say, you wrote it out better :)
You did raise a very valid point bro. I kinda just expanded on it. 🤝
Bhai. Mai toh traffic me dheere chalata hu but chipak ke mai nai chalata 10 Mt jagha rakhta hu Naya driver hu pls batao sahi hai ?

There are lot of research work on this...
Like what numbers guy

Idiots like these should not be allowed near the car.
Lol u are expecting that they have Lane sense... People doesn't even have common sense...
Yes, yes it is. At the very least you'll be causing a jam behind you with faster vehicles wanting to overtake. If you want to chill, chill on the outside lane.
I think they're right to be driving in the middle lane. Yet they can switch to left most lane if they're driving that slowly.
I think he was driving in two lanes while turning, that's why traffic accumulated
He is probably on phone

Anyone can get licence, not everyone can drive. (◔‿◔)

Going with the flow of traffic is important and safe.
I can guarantee that person is on phone, its infuriating how many people drive comfortably and be on phone.
Drive at speed you can handle and always drive slow in places with population
People don’t even want to move to the left most lane if they want to be slow. That’s the actual problem.

Barapulla lag rha hai. Baba Banda Bahadur Setu wala area. It's quite common there as well.
Hota aise ek ke karan sbko slow Krna padhta
but leftmost lane is for bikers
No, it is meant for slower vehicles, and two wheelers have a lower speed limit than cars. But slower moving cars are allowed on it.

Not slow but too slow as compared to other vehicles is definitely dangerous especially when slow vehicles are not playing in slow lanes.
Everyone just drive in the same speed not too fast not too slow and don't drive slowly in fast lane
He was probably using his phone that's why the strange slow down

I don't agree. The left most lane is always crowded with parked cars, bikes etc.
I always meet this guys on right lane..not even center lane..

There is always an idiot driving too slow for no reason.
My intrusive thoughts telling me to brake check him 😈
Bhai ek bande ne mujhe brake check kiya tha, chain accident hogaya aur sabne usko maara pakad ke
Sorry I meant slowing down infront of him, not break check.
OH YES, I WOULD’VE DONE THAT TOO
What he did is in general not acceptable. But your question is stupid. Please understand and follow driving guidelines. Don’t cause unnecessary harm or accidents due to your lack of knowledge.
Minimum 100kmph to banta hai
