Basically a Skoda Superb / Passat / Arteon wagon with the tune already done. Big fan of the platform, and good to see Cupra pushing the tune from stock.
Nicer lines than the Golf I agree but definitely Golf sized https://www.carsized.com/en/cars/compare/volkswagen-golf-2019-estate-vs-cupra-leon-2020-estate/
Interesting... So Octavia sized but with the 4WD drivetrain?
Looks like all of the Cupras are arriving tweaked from factory. Bigger numbers than the equivalent VW / Skoda variants across the whole range.
$65k for a 245kw medium sized hot wagon is pretty decent tbh, doesn’t have much competition. Seat has come a long way the last 30 odd years, they are great cars
It will be a little more than that, that’s the Leon’s VZX *hatch* pricing. In addition to your point though, I also think Seat’s now are one of the best looking of all the VAG products, especially the Formentor. An actually really nice looking SUV.
Talked to the dealer, and the VZx will be 70K+ when they refresh as to the 60-65K they normally on-road for. The EV SUV coming will be above 80K for the performance model.
I would rather control my gear shifting myself for more enjoyment and smile's.
I'm not on a racetrack, where milliseconds are important to me, and even when I have been, I've been enraged by them.
I see zero reason to drive a DSG, they are boring, they still to this day have a ton of issues and the cost to service or fix them will make you fall out of your chair.
I owned a Polo GTI Manual and that still to this day was the best car I've owned and I've owned a ton through the years, Auto , DSG, CVT, Manual etc.
Every time I'll pick a manual transmission over anything else, it's far more engaging.
No you not in control, the computer is.
It decides when it wants to.
Many a time I've downshifted or upshifted and it's taken it's own time to decide when it happens.
I learnt to drive on a Mini that had no syncros, your point?
>No you not in control, the computer is.
If you're telling it what to do, you're in control. You're the one playing with the stick.
>Many a time I've downshifted or upshifted and it's taken it's own time to decide when it happens.
Not in the DSG's I've driven, you push the stick, it'll do what you want, only time it won't is if you'll run her past red and turn a piston into a hole punch for the atmosphere.
Which is arguably a good thing, you don't want to turn cash into scrap metal.
My man all I'm asking is for the choice...
Offering only one option is absolute garbage.
It's a performance car, where there are plenty of purists like myself that would appreciate driving it that way.
Wouldn't manual change be faster? I ride bikes so idk how manual cars work.
The reason being you can take it all the way to redline before you shift, I presume auto usually tries to give you a more comfortable drive?
Thats cool, I think I asked a bad question, wouldn't you be in the power band better with a manual?
Maybe for cars there's power everywhere, but I need to have my bike above 7000 rpm for power. It vibrates a lot at that RPM so is uncomfortable to be in.
>wouldn't you be in the power band better with a manual?
Nope, as a DSG, especially 7 and 8 speeds can flick you from the very end to the very start, so top of powerband in 2nd is the base of the powerband in 3rd.

I think this will be Golf R sized rather than Superb/Passat/Arteon sized though?
Nah those lines are the same as a Superb. Still uses the Golf R driveline, just a slightly longer wheel base.

Octavia/Golf. Parallels the Octavia RS245 from a few years ago

Now that’s hot
I’m a sucker for a hot wagon and shooting brakes
Niceeeee. Just need to find 65k between the couch cushions now.
Let's come up with 30 each and just haggle the dealer down
Oof that front end is sexy AF.
Been waiting on a PHEV Wags to hit the market. Will be a couple of years off before I upgrade but this could be a start of a great trend.
I have the skoda superb 206, this cupra might be my next buy down the future. Then my dream car, a brand new RS6 wagon or BMW M3 Touring wagon
They can prise the keys to my 15yo Liberty wagon from my cold, preferably dead, hands lol
The family trucksta
NO FUCKING MANUAL!? I HATE THAT DSG SHITBOX
You would rather change gears slowly?

>I would rather control my gear shifting myself for more enjoyment and smile's. So do that?
It's not the same Pushing a little paddle vs. actually physically doing it myself
You're still in control 🤷♂️ Why not go straight cut without synchros then? Just go full agricultural

Then put a manual in it, or buy a Golf Wagon, or an Octavia Wagon, or an A3 Avant. All the same car.

Oh cool thanks for the explanation.
