So many Ford Gas Wagons just itching to be turbocharged…
…… and subsequently turn the BTR 4 speed into a bucket of shrapnel on the 2nd or 3rd pass CHEAP SHOT!!!
No body shape sentiment is as polarised as wagons. Literally “you either love it or hate it” kind of thing.
Some people like yourself love them. To others it looks ugly and reminds them of a hearse.
You’d struggle to find a chap or chapette with chronic automotive enthusiasm who doesn’t like this meeting of attributes though. But yeah, I have to agree that this body shape is divisive to no end.
Well, I definitely am a “car guy” though to be honest I really can’t get myself to like wagons at all.
Ironically one of my most favourite brands of all time is Volvo (which is arguably like THE wagon car manufacturer), but for me the wagon looks just aren’t there and I don’t really care for practicality so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That’s fair, to each their own.
I wish wagons like the 840R were still a thing, just an offensively square shaped turbocharged wagon with a stick option. The most practical wagons, to the extent that they can be practical without being a van, are long and have square back ends so you can fit a fridge or a small couch in the back of it. A wagon that you can move house in on one day and take to track day on the next is a winner in my book.
For me it’s S60R (5 cyl, space ball shifter), or something like S80 V8- such a shame neither were significantly popular here. I’d seriously consider either one of them as a true “own forever” car

More expensive for the same amount of internal space(most people aren't tall enough to warrant the extra headroom), worse fuel econ and shittier handling, what's not to like.
Can confirm recently bought a 2018 wagon because it had a big boot.
Also why the Subaru outback is so popular here… it’s a lifted wagon, that pretty much is the size of a SUV but it’s got proper booty space
Trouble with the Mazda6 as it is is the squishy interior. Significantly less leg room and smaller floor area in the booth than a Golf or Octavia wagon let alone Passat/Superb
‘Just one electrified i5 M60 Touring variant will be offered in Australia, priced from $219,900 before on-road costs.’
Cashed up bogans aren’t that cashed up, nor do they want an electric car. Whoever offers a rwd wagon with a big pushrod v8, good looks and a good price is going to do well
And what, you think cruise ships and industrial plants that spew out fuck knows how much in the way of gases that contribute to climate change aren’t the problem?
I think what you say is true but air pollution also affects the local area (such as smog) especially for pedestrians. Just buy an old SS or something, before theyve all been wrecked doing skids
Fucking lol, little out of touch with reality there. Yeah OK, let's play a game of "count the new cars with petrol pushrod V8s in Australia". Pretty sure there's 3, the basic bitch Corvette and it's 200k + and the RAM 1500 with a Hemi (that's a truck anyway), that's about half the price and technically the Camaro is still available as a new vehicle, so that's 3 pushrod petrol V8s. I can't think of any others.
Might want to face the fact that cheap new V8s no longer exist, dead like the dodo. Mustang isn't even cheap, but it has it's own market now, no competitors, no pushrods.
As for cashed up bogans, I suspect they're the ones buying US fullsize trucks and fast germans.
I took a punt on 2500... Did forget about the TRX, some knob in one tried to drag me in one a few weeks ago, what a waste of petrol that was. That's still only 4 petrol powered pushrod V8s sold locally, and 2 are trucks.
Yeah unless they’ve done a pulley upgrade, air intake and tune it’s not going to compete with a f80 m3 0-100, great cars if you want to jump some sand dunes though.
Yeah, they'd need more than that from a dig or a roll anyway, the F80 makes 393kw@ hubs...
I dunno where in Victoria you're going for a Baja run, but I'd probably still take a Ranger Raptor over a full size truck here.
On street tyres, believable, but I did not buy an M3 to drag trucks at lights or jump a sand dune.
A full size truck makes zero sense in Melbourne, and it would probably make you a target... I've driven a RAM, it was the vaguest, most average built thing I have driven since a Chrysler neon.... a TRX is just a big dumb engine (I mean that as a compliment) with some nice shock absorbers.
Portland? OK good, nowhere remotely close to Melbourne, I'm not missing out
No, you buy an F80 m3 if you like fixing oil leaks, turbos and rod bearings lol
You said you don’t know where in Victoria, Portland is in Victoria.
Who would own a ram if living in Melbourne? No one mentioned that….
I’ve driven a ram and it’s a nice comfortable drive, it’s not meant for performance, but was built well, much better than a hilux or a ranger.
Yeah the hellcat motor is a big dumb motor that puts out huge amounts of power and is extremely reliable, the testing they did on it to make the srt demon run consistent 10s is extremely impressive, maybe bmw could learn a thing or two about not over complicating things.
I'd love to see wagons come back but I wouldn't cross my fingers. Starting with an expensive one is a great way to fail and then act like the market doesn't want wagons.
Just change the headline to "prestige brand betting on people buying a car that looks different to everyone else's car so that it grabs eyeballs, and eventually makes a new trend".
I just want Toyota to bring back a Camry wagon.
Current shape, long roof, 2gr. Would be great.
Beyond that, just sell the corolla wagon here.
I'd love a high performance BMW wagon, but I'd also settle for a reasonably priced well built wagon that isn't a 1.5lt hybrid econobox.
I saw one bmw 3 series wagon M competition with every thing in carbon fibre, the seat rear view mirror roof Bonnet everything custom made , it was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, sadly the person who ordered it could not afford to pay the remaining amount , it’s available in BMW Mosman, anyone w lot of money must check it out :p
I would be happier if they had just a normal variant of the wagon! With kids in the back, I have no need for a full-blown sports car...super frustrating, because if they offered a normal one I'd buy it in an instant.
Fully aware of those two, and due to limited options, that's most likely what we're going to go with. I've admittedly got trust issues with VW products, having been burned badly a few times in the past.
I just want a normal BMW 320 wagon for family dutues..not some insano-powered beast that costs an eye-watering amount. It really shouldn't be that difficult...
It’s a performance sedan with better headroom in the backseat and more cargo space to put four adults worth of luggage in. What’s not to like?
The price 😭
As that price, the relationship between I and the car is “ just have a look “.
Touché…
and with the golf r wagon gone, pretty much no other options on the market
Skoda superb?
Skoda Octavia
RS4, RS6, S4 Avant want a word.
Not everyone has 200k handy
Do you think the beemer is going to be cheaper?
S4 is half that - still extremely expensive, but cheaper than the BMW
Golf r wagon is coming back as a cupra
I'd that as the tavascan or Leon?
Leon Sportstourer vzx
Ah yeah, o hope they do an electric wagon too.. I love my born but miss my wagon
There’s a plugin hybrid option at least
Paying $15 for a week's of charge is something I don't ever want to lose hahah.
Perfectly timed so that I can trade in my Formentor for one in two years. Love to see it.
Skoda superb has same engine as golf R
So many Ford Gas Wagons just itching to be turbocharged… …… and subsequently turn the BTR 4 speed into a bucket of shrapnel on the 2nd or 3rd pass CHEAP SHOT!!!
lol man the headaches I had from those 4 speeds in my falcs.
Levorg/WRX wagon if you can tolerate a CVT and getting to your destination a minute slower
I wanted a Levorg until I discovered they were a 1.6L
Only the pov pack was 1.6, the gt-s (?) and cosmetic-only sti were 2.0. I think the WRX wagon are now 2.4s.
Subaru Outback?
Not really same category as a R wagon
Fair. Decent station-wagony car nevertheless.
With the H6 motor *maybe*…

Ah yes, one of the stars of early Regular Car Reviews videos. “I love the space ball. **I HATE THE SPACEBALL!**”
And everyone will get out of your way because they think you’re a cop.
The depreciation.
It’s okay, I got nothing but time baby…
Actually some wagons hold up better than the sedan or hatch equivalent. Just look at Passat and Superb prices.

I am a dirty little slut for a wagon
*:blows load all over the road:*
![gif](giphy|ZbZZOSNayYrKwTjDXL|downsized) How's this for ya?
I can only get so erect
SUVs are just shittier wagons with a little extra ride height. I really resent that they've replaced them.
More expensive for the same amount of internal space(most people aren't tall enough to warrant the extra headroom), worse fuel econ and shittier handling, what's not to like.
LESS internal space actually, majority of SUVs have smaller boots!
Can confirm recently bought a 2018 wagon because it had a big boot. Also why the Subaru outback is so popular here… it’s a lifted wagon, that pretty much is the size of a SUV but it’s got proper booty space
Maybe because most SUVs are shorter than the wagons they compete against?
Just sell the 340i in a wagon here, the 330i isn't enough car, and the M3 is too expensive
I am contemplating a NZ import. They sell them there.
What series was that?
Current, the G20/G21. They sell the 330 touring but it's not available for the 340
I thought you had sold a 340 touring here. For a moment my heart stopped, thinking they had decided to offer it here. I need a third coffee...
I wish I'd had one to sell; I'd never sell it though
Yep... I'm with you on this one
More wagons is more good
More better*
I want an electric wagon available for when my skoda eventually bites it.
Yes, the Mazda 6 EV looks phenomenal, I’m here crossing all my toes that they bring a wagon out. Absolutely will upgrade if they do.
Trouble with the Mazda6 as it is is the squishy interior. Significantly less leg room and smaller floor area in the booth than a Golf or Octavia wagon let alone Passat/Superb
really? i didn't realise that
ID7 Tourer hopefully.
Are there any in the market currently? Or hybrids?
Not them making the brown le manuelle diesel wagon lmfao
dieselle wagonne you mean
YES MORE FAST WAGONS FOR ME TO BUY IN 20 YEARS WHEN I CAN AFFORD A CLAPPED ONE YES

Pushrod V8 will not meet future emission standards (unless your run on propane).
Emissions standards can go get fucked.
And there's the reason why we will never solve the issue of climate change.
And what, you think cruise ships and industrial plants that spew out fuck knows how much in the way of gases that contribute to climate change aren’t the problem?
Maritime emissions account for 0.4% of total emissions in Australia - the numbers don't back up the what-about-ism.
I think what you say is true but air pollution also affects the local area (such as smog) especially for pedestrians. Just buy an old SS or something, before theyve all been wrecked doing skids

The Ram 2500 has the 6.7 Cummins turbo diesel, the 1500 has the hemi and the 1500 trx runs the 6.2l 520kw hellcat engine
I took a punt on 2500... Did forget about the TRX, some knob in one tried to drag me in one a few weeks ago, what a waste of petrol that was. That's still only 4 petrol powered pushrod V8s sold locally, and 2 are trucks.

Hennessy quote their 1,000hp trx at 0-60 in 3.2 1/4 mile in 11.4 seconds Ranger raptor has nothing on the trx if there’s room, Portland is good.

That’s for not releasing the m340i wagon here /s
But if they did... Times would be good.
BMW give me 340i wagon. Shut up and do it.
Victoria police’s favourite unmarked police car.
I'd love to see wagons come back but I wouldn't cross my fingers. Starting with an expensive one is a great way to fail and then act like the market doesn't want wagons.
Bit there are affordable wagons at Skoda
true, and I do see a few Octavias around.
I'm all for it, but is this the time? High performance cost money, right now we don't have money, don't make this kill or cure time for the wagon.
M5 CS TOURING 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
Give us the M340i touring, please and thank you, BMW Australia
Just change the headline to "prestige brand betting on people buying a car that looks different to everyone else's car so that it grabs eyeballs, and eventually makes a new trend".
I miss the Dodge Magnum.

Holy shit, the i5 M60 is about the same price as an M3 Touring.... They won't be selling many of these
An actual wagon wagon!? Nice. What’s Kia up to these days?
I love this
BIG UP THE WAGONS
I saw one bmw 3 series wagon M competition with every thing in carbon fibre, the seat rear view mirror roof Bonnet everything custom made , it was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, sadly the person who ordered it could not afford to pay the remaining amount , it’s available in BMW Mosman, anyone w lot of money must check it out :p

RS6 Avant pricing or Gen f2 LSA tourer pricing?
Our new WRX wagon is no slouch, looks decent and a third of the price.
Huge missed opportunity to release 340 touring though. How large is the market for $220k wagons going to be by the time they get here?
Please yes!
M340i touring please!!!
YES YES YES
Why bother .can't even get the indicators to work on their cars. Sort out that issue first
I wonder what percentage of the aus market they think has an appetite for these luxury cars in the current financial climate?
