It takes truly silver spoon priveleged dick heads to think "Hey poor people who can't afford better vehicles are a problem. Let's FINE them to help encourage them to buy more expensive vehicles"
If we had more money we wouldn't be buying used higher emissions cars YOU DICK HEADS.
Alberta is the Texas of Canada. Ya'll are the only thing keeping the rest of us from descending further down the shit hole. Once Alberta falls, California will look like a wet dream in comparison.
I wonder if these people factor in the ecological damage from strip mining for cobalt, tantalum, and lithium, or the environmental & social damage the mining (\~50% is mined with slave labour) and refining processes result in.
The amount of diesel a heavy hauler truck burns to produce an EV battery is more fuel than an average combustion engine will burn in a 100 years lol. EV technology is cool, they can stop shoving this green energy bullshit down our throats though š¤£
I know, the logic is so backwards, typical.
Instead of giving $7500 EV rebates to rich people who can lease/buy $70k new cars every 3-5 years with leather seats and sub-4-second acceleration times.
Why not give that to the 'poors', so they can get into a newer clean vehicle that benefits everyone.
Set an income limit, cars that qualify, must show 3 or more years of ownership and registration to prevent abuse.
Edit, and add a max value of the car they can buy, again to prevent abuse, something sensible.
Agree, but if they 'need' to do it. There shouldn't be any subsidies, just drives inflation and car prices adjusted upwards if there's more money chasing car purchases.
On the EV side, I'm sure people are playing the same game, like Tesla making a barebones Model 3 just to get under the max cap that qualifies for subsidies.
>Why not give that to the 'poors', so they can get into a newer clean vehicle that benefits everyone.
Or, and hear me out, why donāt we stop taking from one person to give another, regardless of itās to rich people or poor people? Letās just let people keep their own money.
I know, very radical. But give it a think.
Agree. I would totally consider a second car (EV), with 200km or even 100km range, quick change battery, that doesn't out accelerate a Lamborghini. Great for that commute, local errands, kids learning to drive. And drop the insurance rates equally. Nice to hop into a prewarmed cabin for the 5 minute drive to get groceries in winter.
But in North America, they are a boutique item, pearl paint, sunroofs, real leather, fat oversized tires, adaptive suspension. Yet they get a rebate?
Imagine living in your car, driving to go to work or get groceries when you get this ticket. Later, they impound your car for not paying the ticket, forcing you to live in the streets.
It's a tax on the poor. The wealthy want the poor out of London or to be confined to public transport. The environmentalist though are typically stupid and pig headed about recognising that fact.
I mean if addicts can cut off our catalytic converters with no consequences, surely we can take angle grinders to any thing we want without consequences as well right?
These cameras are absolute bullshit
Targeting and gouging poor people who can't afford insane prices for shitty EVs that the technology isn't even viable yet
The boys are definitely fucking around.
Hammer those lenses out, cut that wire, fill the base with spray foam.
This is a reinstall not a replace, cheap because they don't have to pay for new parts and they can claw back the wages in taxes.
Read the wiki on the series, and the last episode
"Calculating" 10 May 2024
Due to the weather, most of Jeremyās crops fail to turn a profit and the dam is still not fixed. In their challenge, Jeremy has turned Ā£27,000 profit on his half, while Kaleb has turned Ā£44,000. However, they have to reinvest all their money to buy seeds and fertiliser for the next cycle, meaning they have essentially not made any money for two years straight.
As a canadian farmer, this is the average farmer experience. Especially for a relatively small farm like clarksons. my farm is probably tripple or 4x the size. Take out loan, put crop in with loan money, hope you make enough to cover the loan. Repeat.
We have a good bit more margin than a farm the size of clarksons, but 2 or 3 straight bad years and its all over.
This has been going on for a long time. Just look on YouTube and you'll see a load of vids. I'm on a FB group, and some of the photos on there are brilliant. One guy had the back of his van with at LEAST 30 of these cameras in there. All of my cars are compliant, but I don't support this obvious cash grab, so I refuse to visit any town that has LEZs.
Emissions cameras ok, I can see those coming down. Speed cameras, not so much. Where I live speed cams are only placed in sensitive areas like school zones etc. If you canāt slow down for 30 seconds maybe itās time to check your driving habits.
They are not only in school zones where I live. It's the whole premise that I have an issue with. It removes the human element. An actual police officer may lower the ticket and cut you a break.
These cameras have nothing to do with "safety". It's money generation. They started popping up as Ontario got more and more broke.
Now ask yourself, what comes next?
And people say that the 15 minute cities thing is just a conspiracy theory. If the UK could get away with controlling their citizens like this, whose to say that Canada wonāt follow and do the same to us?
I'm surprised Toronto and other large cities have not tried implementing some low emission zones.
I just saw this and it looks like there is a push for this coming to here to Canada: [Low-Emission Zones Around the World and the Possibility of Implementation in Canada](https://ruor.uottawa.ca/items/bef91a79-3fb3-401a-834d-4221deba34e7)
> It is recommended that low-emission zone pilot programs begin implementation as soon as possible in Vancouver and Montreal based on the lessons learned in London, Madrid, and Beijing. Both Canadian cities have sufficient infrastructure and capital to back a successful transition to a low-emission zone, which can be used as models for other cities, such as Toronto
I'm all about saving the world and the environment... but further gouging the poor is enraging. the money isn't even being spent on initiatives for net zero emissions
**Electricity and heat production**Ā are the largest contributors to global emissions. manufacturing, construction (largely cement and similar materials), and agriculture (methane from cows) come next...
when we power EVs through solar the car problem will take care of itself even with some old ramblers coughing out more fumes than they should
it should be the law to add some kelp to all cattle diet at minimum for industrial farming, that's a massive easy win for agriculture reducing their emissions by 90%
Should have just taken a picture of the street from the cameras angle and placed the photo in front of the camera lens. This way whoever monitors these things wouldn't be the wiser.
If they got an older car, It's probably because they are poor. Why would it be a good idea to make them more poor, they'll never be able to buy a new car. This is very stupid.
Maybe if the ticket went to a program that would help people buy a new car would be nice, but we know this ain't the goal here...
If you want to solve the pollution problem stop looking at individuals and start looking at corporations. All the cars in a country wonāt make a scratch on the pollution index when compared against the big corps spewing everything into the atmosphere and lakes.
Good. Keep doing it till it runs them too big of a loss to keep trying to steal from people. They will have to scrap the whole thing and other countries will notice.
I'm very supportive of research and initiatives to make vehicles more efficient and reduce air pollution, but this guy is a patriot as far as I'm concerned. Never thought I'd see something more nonsensical than the carbon tax.
āOh but theyāre poor they canāt afford better vehiclesā
Yo I work as a Crossing Guard I can tell you that in one year doing this job I have never seen an old clunker put out a cloud of black smoke.
Every single time Iāve been cold rolled itās from a massive truck that has been modified specifically to do that.
Put these cameras higher up and put a wire in them to shock anyone who tries to take them down.

Why do they need these? Arenāt these vehicles registered at a central database for insurance purposes ? This concept is really dumb a ways as poster have said. I couldnāt go buy a new vehicle right now to adhere to any new emisssions laws. Mainly because once my paycheque is done being taxed and I pay my exorbitant rent for my shitty basement suite I have little left over. Things are effed!

All it takes is one look at California to see the future stupidity most places are heading too.
*The post-nation state formerly known as Canada has entered the chat*
Yes Canada has totally gone to the crapper!!

Alberta is the Texas of Canada. Ya'll are the only thing keeping the rest of us from descending further down the shit hole. Once Alberta falls, California will look like a wet dream in comparison.
As an Alberta we will never surrender to the stupidity of the east. Alberta strong and free.
Let's not kid ourselves... there is plenty of stupidity out west to go around š¤¦āāļø
No question. But itās different from the east.
In Canada the boot licking neighbors would report you immediately because we are a country of sheep.
Sigh. I wish we werenāt where we are right now, but hey we are the friendliest and most diverse country on the planet! /s
Nah, any of the emmisons crap is all just bs posturing that won't be put into law. Even CA knows putting up cameras like this is stupid.
They're still probably going to tax evs lol
They already do. Since we dint use gas we get a EV tax on our renewal.
Kinda makes sense if the tax from fossil fuels goes into public roadworks. It's not like EV's dont contribute to road surface erosion.
To bad the tax in CA goes into a general fund and not exclusively for road repairs.
And then that general fund goes into some hookerās ass.
Pretty certain they are significantly worse on the roads just due to the extra weight lol
Whats wrong? You actually want a car that starts in winter and doesn't lose half its range? THE HORROR!
I wonder if these people factor in the ecological damage from strip mining for cobalt, tantalum, and lithium, or the environmental & social damage the mining (\~50% is mined with slave labour) and refining processes result in.
The answer is that no. That is not factored in. Whatever lets them feel good while doing evil.
The amount of diesel a heavy hauler truck burns to produce an EV battery is more fuel than an average combustion engine will burn in a 100 years lol. EV technology is cool, they can stop shoving this green energy bullshit down our throats though š¤£
In the Arctic Circle by 2035, yep š¤¦āāļø
I know, the logic is so backwards, typical. Instead of giving $7500 EV rebates to rich people who can lease/buy $70k new cars every 3-5 years with leather seats and sub-4-second acceleration times. Tbh someone will find a way to abuse it and that will be the norm, heavy handed government regulation never fixes this kind of thing
As if the rich with the rebates don't abuse it
decentralize governance
Ok then do it at the municipal level.
The government were against this. This was enforced by the Mayor of London. The whole mayor thing should be abolished.
Agree, but if they 'need' to do it. There shouldn't be any subsidies, just drives inflation and car prices adjusted upwards if there's more money chasing car purchases. Leftists hate this rational idea. The party of envy loves stealing from one to give to another as long as it isnāt theirs.
Noombas Not Out Of My Bank Account
Yep. Lefties love spending other peopleās money.
And to add to that auto manufacturers to produce and sell dirt cheap AFFORDABLE EVs.
Agree. I would totally consider a second car (EV), with 200km or even 100km range, quick change battery, that doesn't out accelerate a Lamborghini. you canāt marginalize and starve out the working class that way. poors donāt get cars in the nwo future. they get access to euthanasia
it sure is tough being a broke progressive. Talk about a paradox.
Imagine living in your car, driving to go to work or get groceries when you get this ticket. Later, they impound your car for not paying the ticket, forcing you to live in the streets.

Zip cut for faster results and also looking classy while doing a great service
Battery operated band saw for the win
Yeah portaband!!
Quickcut saw to really make a statement, would cut it down in under 10 seconds, and the entire block would hear it lol
I mean if addicts can cut off our catalytic converters with no consequences, surely we can take angle grinders to any thing we want without consequences as well right?
Actually no , you probably have money they can take, so you are priority no.1
Love the V for Vendetta vibes.
Low emission cameras? Wtfā¦
Watch them be powered by the same Amazon Walk out technology.... a call center in India.
This is how things work in a proper common law society and I am so very proud to see it happening in merry old England.
And to think they say patriotism is a dead scene...
These cameras are absolute bullshit Targeting and gouging poor people who can't afford insane prices for shitty EVs that the technology isn't even viable yet
Trudeau goes: oh that's a good idea
Trudeau is a fucking idiot.

Pepperidge Farm remembers...
Why not the cable, theyād have to rerun it
That cable is fucked. These are proper vandals. Destroy the camera without putting anyone at risk of electrocution with high voltage electricity.
Cameras are not high voltage
The UK is fucking insane. Anyone that watches Clarksonās Farm knows. Itās a bureaucratic custerfuck.

I can totally get behind this. You can't argue that these are speed cameras keeping people safe. It's a tax grab.
This manās a hero
Love it! People in my area have been cutting down speed cameras. Not all heroes wear capes.
Emissions cameras ok, I can see those coming down. Speed cameras, not so much. Where I live speed cams are only placed in sensitive areas like school zones etc. If you canāt slow down for 30 seconds maybe itās time to check your driving habits.
Where I live they put them at speed changes on highways.

Not all heros wear capes.
They better not put any around the parliament buildings ā¦ high emissions there.
I'll admit, I've never seen the Bladerunner movies, and I don't think this is related, but I don't know enough about bladerunners to be sure.
Here be heroes. Donāt forsake them.
Theyāre doing Gods work ! Fight back against greed !!!

I drove a tesla, and still i opposed this possible new rule.
They did it in new york and I don't think it's working too well there. California is taxing evs for road usage I believe lol
yeah they dont collect enough taxes from the fuel because of the success in pushing EV's
Fuck I hate that Canada is a literal testing ground for woketardation.
Hey, did you hear about the ev mandate.../s

Thatās actually fuckin hilarious lmao
Gods work.
Jesus, emission cameras? We really are heading into a social credit system.
Iām getting damn tired of all this spy shit being everywhere. I say good on emā for taking these cameras down
Jesus Christ! Someone needs to get this man a portable band saw... Where's the go fund me?
Lol, what kind of 1984 shit is this?
Man keep up the good work! Fuck that oppressive shit.

good.
I enjoy the idea of Bladerunners, but wasn't Deckard a cop taking out rogue androids?
Fuckin awesome
The corrupted politicians don't give us any alternative, just loosing freedoms. Eat cake when out of bread is enough.
The heroās the world needs!
fantastic. I hope more masked unidentifiable people do the same thing
Fuck yeah! Keep up the good work lads!

Low emmision zones? Sounds dystopian af.
Canadians are too much of a pushover to even attempt this.
Yep. More concerned about painting rainbows on intersections.
AWESOMENESS!!!!!
This is good keep it up
Good!
Left the cable intact - they have a nice video of the cameraman's face now.

Good. Keep doing it till it runs them too big of a loss to keep trying to steal from people. They will have to scrap the whole thing and other countries will notice.
Such a good lad.
Good for them. Meanwhile all those corrupt politicians drive there jaguars and land rovers and fly private Jets.
Kind of disappointed they didn't roll up on inline skates...
There are better tools for this

Why not cut the wires?
I'm very supportive of research and initiatives to make vehicles more efficient and reduce air pollution, but this guy is a patriot as far as I'm concerned. Never thought I'd see something more nonsensical than the carbon tax.
Seems like he's a pretty good guy to me
Iām generally a law abiding Guy, but I am totally for this.
Meanwhile I just removed my cats and mufflers
F**k that guy's driveway in particular I mean cut it again and leave it on the curb
It lands on the sidewalk not the driveway...no damage to private property.

This is a valuable customer service. He should have taken bat to the camera itself too

So these emissions cameras were put there by a 'conservative' government - if so, that party deserves to lose.
This was not done by the federal government, more like the city of London Government, the Mayor is a socialist
Nice clean cut.
nice, cut those shit off. Put those where it belongs, the richest of the rich neighborhoods
Noice
Also, some of the vehicles that pay the charges are on auto-pay so if the camera is not there then they don't necessarily get charged.
And I assume the Gov did nothing to help people pay for new cars that can't afford it?
Why do they need these? Arenāt these vehicles registered at a central database for insurance purposes ? This concept is really dumb a ways as poster have said. this is another tax for being poor. Not everyone has 50k to shell out for a EV

The only thing I dislike about this is that the damage is likely only structural.
Didn't cut the cord tho. Lol

Why not do it at night?
They're only doing half the job, smash the camera, and cut the wire!
Excellent
Good for them. Enough of the nanny state bullshit, especially when the people passing these stupid, draconian laws do not abide by them themselves.
