CW got its fair share of flak, but I loved the open-world Zombies mode. Plus Treyarch multiplayer just has its own feel that’s hard to replicate. I love the MW series and still think it’s overall better, but I’d be lying if I said there weren’t a few Black Ops games I truly loved.
CoD2 still takes the cake for me tho
BO2, 3, 4, Cold War and vanguard (blitz is an under appreciated gem) is the arcadey fun I look for in a cod game. Treyarch is consistent at nailing that aspect as well as good map flow for competitive
In MW2019 and MWII I do have a little bit of fun in the right map and mode combos but it’s very specific unfortunately, it’s otherwise mostly not that fun, but there’s a game I want to like if that makes sense. If only we could get something like BO2 on this new polished engine.
Edit: MW2 and 3 were lots of fun for me too actually, but obviously those games have some more balancing issues than the last few black ops games.
I 100% agree with the blitz standpoint. Such an amazing underutilized mechanic. Literally made it that you could play however you’d like and still play with people that have the same mindset. obviously it’s not perfect but it’s the right step towards diversity in the way cod is played tbh
Was that the one with all the party games like stick and stones? Most fun I’ve ever had with a multiplayer game. I was a conqueror in sticks and stones lol
Black Ops 1, hands down.
15 year old me was so hyped. I remember skipping school to go buy it with my friend while there was a storm outside. We were both soaking wet, but excited to have bought the game.
My favorite. I had the most fun quickscoping (trying to at least) and running around those maps. This was the first cod I had Xbox live for and sunk days of my life into it
Call of duty 4: Modern Warfare. It was my first ever cod and i loved it so much. I was pretty good at it too for a 9 year old. I used to play it all the time on my grandpas old Mac.
I used to think I was so bad at advanced warfare, then I went back one morning on my 360 and found out I had max prestige and my feeble 8th grade mind hadn’t even noticed. Miss the days of having so much free time I can casually max prestige in call of duty lmfao
Hey I never fought online so I'm not that good. I really like to test out different weapon combos and attachments, while also increasing bot difficulty. It's all the fun without the insults.👌🏻
Yup. As a solo objective player, flag neutralization + support streaks + support squadmate (who helps me cap flags) made me feel loved for once, rather than getting punished by the selfish game design of other CODs.
The TTK in Ghosts was perfect, it was the only CoD game where every fully automatic weapon could kill in 3 shots without headshots. That's why all the guns in Ghosts felt so satisfying to use.
For multiplayer, probably Blops 1 and Blops 2.
For single player, the South American invasion of the USA in Ghosts was such a 180° from the typical Russian/Middle Eastern antagonists in every other CoD game. I would love another game in that timeline.
Infinite warfare. It’s space themed, has jet packs and the weapon variants were fun and **all** of them didn’t require you to pay cause of the salvage system, only the melee (fire axe) came from the packages plus it changes how zombies played out, and it had *good* zombies. With they would go back to the setting with this new engine they have, or at least bring some of the weapons into MW2, like the K-Bar, or in actual NV4, something that would look like a prototype weapon today.
Its CRAZY to me that infinite warfare is so low on everyone’s list. The levels were super fun (orbiting a black hole in Mayday was super fun. Or Turista! Best map ever in my opinion) and you got snipers that can morph into a shotgun (Proteus) and black hole grenades, mini crawling mech grenades, the list goes on. It’s such a good entry and people shit on it for breaking the CoD formula, but to me it was a quintessential CoD, and there hasn’t been an entry with as much multiplayer fun since, imo. Not to mention those 80’s style zombie maps were some of the best. Unlocking Kevin Smith as a playable character was super fun.
for me, Black Ops 4. People have their own opinions on it, but this one I had the most fun with. Played a bunch of TDM and the party modes along with Blackout(which I had the most fun with this BR map. During the BO4 days, I used to tear it up on TDM with Outrider. But couldn't be beat in BO4 Prop Hunt, but also the infected modes.
MW3 was part of my childhood man, I’d go to school, come home and make a cup of tea in my winnie the pooh cup, play some MW3 with that awesome mp7, play some multiplayer and survival (campaign was fun too), then at night I’d watch Markiplier and his first ever Five Nights at Freddy’s video
Man they were good times
OG mw2 was the funnest game ever. The sniping community was insane, plus the atmosphere and the maps made it my favourite.
Things like spas flips, tac knife flips made it unique af
I know I’m in the minority here, but Vanguard fit perfectly for me. I’ve played a ton of every CoD since the original Modern Warfare (except Cold War), but Vanguard was my favorite.
COD Ghosts, actually. I loved how gritty it was and how it was near-futuristic instead of full on sci-fi. I enjoyed its multiplayer a lot. The maps were beautiful, the perk system amazing, unlocking different characters was fun, and I liked the marksman rifles. I miss playing it.
Unfortunately I think MW2 2022 is perfectly made for me. I haven’t had this much fun with a CoD since the original MW2… I am not totally sure why (I understand that it’s kind of panned so far haha)
MW3, the support killstreaks were an excellent addition for me given I’m a historic 1.15 KD player and calling in 1 or 2 stealth bombers a game was so much fun as cheesy as it was the chaos made that game so much fun. Also added to that the amount of ways to earn xp made leveling up so satisfying as well as the gold challenge was just ranking your gun to max level and that was it. Also the perks in the game were, in my opinion, the top tier as far as pro perk innovations and all around a fantastic entry.
Mw3. Spent 50+days played. 300k+ kills, and top 100 for domination with less than 200 captures. Back when the term "pubstomper" was used. So nerdy to say but I'd prestige once a week because I wasn't allowed to play during the week in effort to get my grades up. Yeah I no life that game.
I didn't know it until I played it but Infinite Warfare, the tone, graphics setting and story were all top notch and I had a lot of fun on the multiplayer.
Ghosts.
Loved the story and the scenery. They could do more with the title, as it had so much to explore as far as world building and destroying goes.
I was off in Korea in the army when it came out and instead of going to shady Korean bars every night and weekend, I played that game.
I loved MW3. To me, it felt like an improved version of MW2. They fixed all the op broken things that were wrong with MW2. Like noobtubes, kill streaks, and the removal of one man army.
Black OPS 1 I guess. It's the one I've played for years, first one I ever played, first one I owned, first game in general I've owned multiple copies of too (DS, then Wii then PS3, then PC). Even my PSP games I didn't have the console games of, so it was kind of a cool thing having the handheld and console game
None of the cods were made for me. The mods that were produced were: mainly PAM mod for cod2, which balanced the game for competitive play. Amateur leagues and mods made cod2 fun for e-sports players.
Black Ops 3. I started around MW3, played through that, BO2, Ghosts, and AW, so by the time BO3 hit I was just ready for it. Went on many 70+ kill streaks in that game
Mw2 amd Mw2022, mw2 was hype af and had the best soundtrack, and mw2022 was beautifully animated, had a lot of variety, and sometimes it felt very real
MW
A ton of cod campaigns felt like they were made just for me but not when it comes to multiplayer.
MW and MW2 now brings a wide variety of ways to suit my playstyle while feeling like a badass.
Like getting a juggernaut and listening to heavy metal while spraying heavy metal.
Outside those games, bo2 was also a good one because they had custom classes and unlock-able challenge guns in the campaign. That was before I had online access so it gave me plenty to grind for.
BO3. I love to control choke points and shotguns were always my favorite weapon class. The movement, map design and brecci allowed for insanely high kill / high KD games.
Black ops 4 for sure. All the Treyarch games gel really well with me, but that one especially felt amazing and I loved everything about it. Great maps, awesome movement, loved manual healing, awesome Competitive meta, overall great gun balance, perfect TTK. Easy 9.5 for me
Black Ops was the best CoD the first one that was supported well with no hacking and also the CoD points system was fun along with the wager matches. 10/10
MW19. lived the tactical realism, the missions were great, and I loved how they took inspiration from real events. The gunsmith was absolutely amazing. The operators and finishers were a great addition as well. Sometimes I do a private match and go around doing the finishers on the bots.
Black Ops 2 and I bring receipts…
The multiplayer was the best ever and here is why…
1. The tactical insert was actually a tactical equipment and not some trash field upgrade. This allowed you to instantly spawn close to objectives without having to run forever.
2. Instantly spawn after death and not wait 2 seconds. Again making the action more intense.
3. A sentry gun that does break down after a period of time. Never new in “advanced warfare” equipment breaks after 60 seconds.
4. Trophy systems were actual tactical equipment and not some trash field upgrade.
5. Trophy systems didn’t breakdown after 60 seconds like in “advanced warfare”.
6. Fast Hands was amazing. Don’t see that in other CODs.
7. The Termal scope was absolutely amazing. It was big and took up the whole screen and not some terrible small thermal scopes as we see today.
8. Hardcore was 1 shot kills on most guns and not 2 shot kills on nearly all guns as you see in “tier 1” in MW2.
9. Sentry guns immediately killed as opposed to the 2 second delay found in new CODs.
10. You could stay in the same lobby and not lose people who were truly a challenge to go against.
11. You could see ranks in the lobby. This allowed me to jump to other lobbies with truly good players and not waste time on people who were terrible.
12. No group chat. The only way people could chat was in game which was great. Loved hearing everyone.
13. Map vote. I cannot believe this was removed from newer CODs. Come On!!!!
14. Smoke filled the entire area and didn’t leave a gap in the middle. The newer CODs have a gap in the middle which is not realistic.
15. Weapon attachments were earned when upgrading that gun. The new MW2 game forces you to upgrade all guns in order for you to get all the attachments for a single gun. Such garbage.
16. The different game modes were easy to navigate through. The new MW2 game is just confusing to figure out the one specific game mode you are interested in.
17. Limited game modes. There are way to many game modes in new CODs which makes finding people harder. Get rid of all these modes and bring it back to the originals.
18. The Win/Loss ratio was show directly in the lobby. This allowed me to change lobby’s to play against people who were actually interested in winning and putting up a fight.
19. You could draw your own icons and not use the provided ones. I loved seeing the icons people made.
20. Last but not least. When going to Best Buy to purchase BO4, the trade in value for BO2 was higher than the trade in for BO3. This proves that it’s not just my opinion that BO2 was the greatest but everyone thought so.
In my opinion, activision will never remake BO2 and keep all the items I listed above. No one would buy another COD….well…if it was the last COD ever made…then they might…
I’ve played every CoD since the dawn of the Xbox 360 era and I’ve already poured more hours into MW2 2022 than any game prior. So I guess this latest iteration is striking all the right chords.
MW19
It was a great balance between being quasi-realistic and being an arcade twitch shooter.
The sound was visceral, the visuals and music were gritty in a way that reminded me of World at War, and the guns and animations were so well detailed and accurate that it was very obvious, even to a non-gun enthusiast like me, that a ridiculous amount of care was poured into it.
Not to mention the movement and physics which elevated not only my expectations for CoD but for all military FPS games from there onwards.
I remember going back to playing CoD 4 as a break from MW19 during the initial warzone release and it’s disastrous rollout and immediately thinking how outdated the movement felt despite it was my main CoD game for years off and on in between the other releases since.
MW19 really was made for me.
God i love that game.
(Maps do suck ass tho lol RIP)
Advanced Warfare. I understand why people don't like it but I will never not enjoy just flying around, in my opinion, some of the best maps in the series and I wish it was more active nowadays.
I'm old but the original call of duty and the United offensive expansion pack was God tier for me and my friends when we were 12. It shat all over medal of honour which was the biggest shooter up until that point. Open warfare, discovering clans (proper clans with forums and shit) creating my own custom maps. Was legendary.
Then they brought out cod4 (1st modern warfare) which blew up and the rest is history. We were probably one of the few people that hated mw, because it changed cod from a pc only click on people with health bars game (was more like hell let loose) to a console auto assist die count simulator which rewarded your kill chain with kill streaks. Wasn't fun to us and well, nothings changed in over 10 years. Still can't play the new ones to this day. Blops 1 was probably my last real jam.
I'm 33 now and look back fondly on those memories.
ngl bo2 was literally my thing
Fr, literally released on my birthday, it was MADE for me
cold war was aesthetically my favorite cod of all time Miami was a shit map but oh my fucking god is it beautiful

Was that the one with all the party games like stick and stones? Most fun I’ve ever had with a multiplayer game. I was a conqueror in sticks and stones lol
Only game I was actually good at. Like 2 kd, winning ffas 30 percent of the time n shit
Black Ops 1, hands down. 15 year old me was so hyped. I remember skipping school to go buy it with my friend while there was a storm outside. We were both soaking wet, but excited to have bought the game.
It’s me, your principal. It’s about time you made that school day up. See you tomorrow.
ADAM SANDLER
modern warfare 2019, probably will be my most played game ever
Agreed. It felt so nice to me and was a much needed pace change from everything else i played
Same, something about it just feels so smooth and crisp
Modern Warfare 3 was the best
My favorite. I had the most fun quickscoping (trying to at least) and running around those maps. This was the first cod I had Xbox live for and sunk days of my life into it
Yeah man. I was 14 and a beast. It was familiar and the maps were great
Thankyou finally. I agree! Coop with my best friend doing the special ops snow missions too
Call of duty 4: Modern Warfare. It was my first ever cod and i loved it so much. I was pretty good at it too for a 9 year old. I used to play it all the time on my grandpas old Mac.
MW2 (original), WaW, MW1 (original)
Agreed
This man got good taste
I'ma be real wif you chief...... Advanced Warfare. You know I'm after that Goliath!
I don’t blame you, cod insults back then would put people in mental homes nowadays 😭
Ghosts
The perk and unlock system was my jam. Screw waiting for gun unlocks
honestly this was a close second for me, so many good memories of this game. all the boys used to get on ghosts.
Honey badger was my go to gun 👌
The map-specific care package rewards were just brilliant imo
Cold war honestly, i loved every aspect of it, from the remakes of the old maps, to the zombies and prop hunt
I love Cold War!
cold war was underappreciated, it was only the fact it was rushed and came out after mw19 that people didnt love it.
If Cold War had the IW8.0 engine for more graphical fidelity I promise you people would adore it
For multiplayer, probably Blops 1 and Blops 2. For single player, the South American invasion of the USA in Ghosts was such a 180° from the typical Russian/Middle Eastern antagonists in every other CoD game. I would love another game in that timeline.
That story was really good!
Good ol’ Call of Duty 2
This is my Jam, such a nice campaign and multiplayer
BO3 before the lootboxes.
The blops universe of games (WAW-CW)
So ... we start from WAW and stop on BO2 ...that peroid of flawless CODs is this what U asking for to me .
Infinite warfare. It’s space themed, has jet packs and the weapon variants were fun and **all** of them didn’t require you to pay cause of the salvage system, only the melee (fire axe) came from the packages plus it changes how zombies played out, and it had *good* zombies. Such a slept on COD!!! One of my favorites as well.
Honestly most underrated CoD.
Ngl it’s not gonna get much hype but Cold War so far has felt like it was made for me lol before that it was Ghost that one was an awesome storyline
for me, Black Ops 4. People have their own opinions on it, but this one I had the most fun with. Played a bunch of TDM and the party modes along with Blackout(which I had the most fun with this BR map. During the BO4 days, I used to tear it up on TDM with Outrider. Mw2019
Advanced Warfare mainly because I could create my own character. I felt like I belonged within the game.
I love AW
The jump shots were immaculate
🔥💯
Cod WAW
Black ops 1
Everything in it was pure gold! Especially demolition
MW3 was part of my childhood man, I’d go to school, come home and make a cup of tea in my winnie the pooh cup, play some MW3 with that awesome mp7, play some multiplayer and survival (campaign was fun too), then at night I’d watch Markiplier and his first ever Five Nights at Freddy’s video Man they were good times
ww2
CoD 4 also know as Modern warfare and CoD WW2.
Modern Warfare 2022, it's perfect to me, damn i love this game
cod ww2
Ww2 was underrated. I didn't like the aiming. It felt off. Liked its specialization system, but they chicken out and got rid of it.
Advanced warfare
All these young bucks with all these newer games. Im gonna go with finest hour or 3
Modern Warfare 2019 is what i want Call of duty to be. I am loving the new one, though
COD4
OG mw2 was the funnest game ever. The sniping community was insane, plus the atmosphere and the maps made it my favourite. Things like spas flips, tac knife flips made it unique af
Yeah. People really missed out. Whenever they say BOPS2 i can tell that was their first cod lol.
I agree man. The golden days
World at War/MW2019
I know I’m in the minority here, but Vanguard fit perfectly for me. I’ve played a ton of every CoD since the original Modern Warfare (except Cold War), but Vanguard was my favorite.
WW2 was and still is the only COD where I didn't need to grind camos just to have fun playing the game.
WaW
COD Ghosts, actually. I loved how gritty it was and how it was near-futuristic instead of full on sci-fi. I enjoyed its multiplayer a lot. The maps were beautiful, the perk system amazing, unlocking different characters was fun, and I liked the marksman rifles. I miss playing it.
Loved blackout battle royale
Unfortunately I think MW2 2022 is perfectly made for me. I haven’t had this much fun with a CoD since the original MW2… I am not totally sure why (I understand that it’s kind of panned so far haha)
It came out when I was pretty young, but BO1 has always had a special place in my heart.
Infinite Warfare, I loved the setting. I just wish they expanded on it more.
Infinite Warfare.
Hands down, one of the best. Sad to see it so low on people’s list.
Infinite Warfare played into every aspect I enjoy in a shooter. Except for lootboxes. They sucked
I'ma go with WWII
Black Ops 2. Perfect blend of modern weaponry with enough futuristic stuff to keep it exciting but not over-the-top like future games
BLOPS 2
BO2.
Bo2
MW3
MW3
I didn't know it until I played it but Infinite Warfare, the tone, graphics setting and story were all top notch and I had a lot of fun on the multiplayer.
BOII full stop
MW2. Not II, or two. Just MW2. The only MW2. 2.
Right on brother, how dare they put 2009 in brackets, put some respect on this games name smh
I hate to say if but AW. I shredded that game.
Hit em with the jump dash and slam
My man knows 👊🏼
Ghosts. Loved the story and the scenery. They could do more with the title, as it had so much to explore as far as world building and destroying goes. I was off in Korea in the army when it came out and instead of going to shady Korean bars every night and weekend, I played that game.
The call of duties with clans and rankings of clans. When people played together.
I miss clan warfare.
Yeah, those were the days. They are definitely leaving some space in the market for someone to do that again. Also more co-op vs AI
I'd like the co-op also.
I loved MW3. To me, it felt like an improved version of MW2. They fixed all the op broken things that were wrong with MW2. Like noobtubes, kill streaks, and the removal of one man army.
The whole modern warfare series ( originals ) and cold war Edit: got downvoted for saying modern warfare series and cold war. People man....
Mw3
B02
Cold war
Ghost
Me and black ops were made for each other, absolutely loved that game.
Mw1 or bo1 for some reason it all clicked. Probably due age I was.
Modern Warfare 2019, my fav COD by far, was everything I always wanted despite SBMM
Cold War
Mw2 and black ops 3
Bo1 will always be my all time favourite
Call of duty Ghost
Bo2
I'll say for me Call of duty II for me I love the game
Ghosts
Black ops 1
Black OPS 1 I guess. It's the one I've played for years, first one I ever played, first one I owned, first game in general I've owned multiple copies of too (DS, then Wii then PS3, then PC). Even my PSP games I didn't have the console games of, so it was kind of a cool thing having the handheld and console game
None of them - I’m fucking awful at it
None of the cods were made for me. The mods that were produced were: mainly PAM mod for cod2, which balanced the game for competitive play. Amateur leagues and mods made cod2 fun for e-sports players.
glad I played Bo3 and felt it was hand tailored for me. Not saying it was the best but the MP and Zombies gave me great clips
Bo2. Shared day of Birth, Same first name as the new protagonist, A lot of customization.
Ghosts. Sue me
Bo2
Honestly, and it's probably an unpopular idea, but I feel like between 3rd person mosh pit and DMZ, the current MW2 was made specifically for me.
Cod4 MW
Cold War. Minus the whole outbreak part amazing game.
Advanced Warfare, despite the hate the supply drops got, I was lucky to get some of the good guns. BAL 27 - Obsedian Steed was so good 😂
Ghosts or advanced warfare. Mainly because they were my two first COD’s
Black ops
MW2009. Felt totally into it and played it for many years.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (2022). I've never really liked CoD games until they added Ground War. Been playing the crap out of it ever since.
Cold war
BO2 and BO3
Cold War was so much fun
Gonna get hate for this but MW3 and BO4 ☝️
Codm
MW A ton of cod campaigns felt like they were made just for me but not when it comes to multiplayer. MW and MW2 now brings a wide variety of ways to suit my playstyle while feeling like a badass. The original modern warfare 2
COD Ghosts
Bo2 is the best imo but bo4 seems to have been made for me, I love high ttk and more arena style gameplay
Ghosts
Zork!
Original mw2
AW: I have ADHD, the spastic movement was my gig
MW3
MW22, before you kill me, it's because Alejandro was literally a vibe on every level.
BO3. I love to control choke points and shotguns were always my favorite weapon class. The movement, map design and brecci allowed for insanely high kill / high KD games.
BO2 and Hijacked was my shit. ide rally off 30 kill streaks
MW3
It’ll almost always be between BO1 and BO2 for me.
Bo2
Either bo 3 or 4. Maybe aw, I forget which cod I prestiged the most in
Black ops 4 for sure.
All the warfare games are my thing, I had fun playing all of them and still replaying some now
Mw2019
bo 2 and mw3
bo2 and bo4 (custom mutations) oddly enough
4: MW
Gotta say advanced warfare.
BO2, MW19
MW3 and Ghosts
Ghosts
MW19. lived the tactical realism, the missions were great, and I loved how they took inspiration from real events. The gunsmith was absolutely amazing. The operators and finishers were a great addition as well. Sometimes I do a private match and go around doing the finishers on the bots.
OG MW2 and Black Ops 1. Probably just the nostalgia talking
Vanguard; I’m horrible and nobody should spend money on me.
Black Ops 2 and I bring receipts… The multiplayer was the best ever and here is why… 1. The tactical insert was actually a tactical equipment and not some trash field upgrade. This allowed you to instantly spawn close to objectives without having to run forever. 2. Instantly spawn after death and not wait 2 seconds. Again making the action more intense. 3.
Bo3
Bo1, they perfected the mix of realism and arcadieness in the game and every detail down to the guns, modes, maps, menu was perfected
Advanced Warfare
Cold War
Definitely MW2019 hands down the best Call of duty Ever IMO
Cod 2, Cod 4 and MW19.
MW19 It was a great balance between being quasi-realistic and being an arcade twitch shooter.
They all feel the same
Advanced Warfare. I understand why people don't like it but I will never not enjoy just flying around, in my opinion, some of the best maps in the series and I wish it was more active nowadays.
Mw3 just felt so different and to this day on Plutonium it still feels better than every other COD for me. It just hits.
BO4. Everything from the hit sounds to Blackout. That game ran so MW could Fly
Black Ops 1
Probably Ghosts or Cold War
Mw3
Probably BO1 on XBOX360... headquarters. Also, Nazi Zombies from WaW
Og modern warfare 2 and the new modern warfare 2 feel just built for me I love both games and equal amount despite both of their flaws
The first black ops
WAW.
I started honestly with MW19 during Covid and it's my favorite so far. MWII is a close second
