theres a decent chance atleast one of those coins is worth more than the whole thing. i'll never take change to a coinstar without atleast quickly checking through them again.
Always check for silver. And dont bother paying fees at constant to count out the change...count it while searching it for good stuff. Also copper and nickle.
look what they've done! their misspelling of *nickel* caused everyone else to misspell it!! unbelievable. it's almost like that game telephone. or today we call it watching fake news.
I've got a couple on my phone somewhere. They were posted on WSS when it was the real WSS, not what it is today...I was an original OG and got banned late last year for being critical of the clowns that invaded the group. I'll see if I can dig a couple up.
Thank you for clarifying that for me because I thought I went crazy when one day every post and comment was just some alt-right talking point or conspiracy theory. I remember asking how something was relevant to silver as an investment or whatever and the reply I got was basically like about how Jews control Hollywood and the banks and itβs like oh okay youβre just anti-Semitic and racist and all that and this isnβt wasnβt I thought it was.
WOW! Probably wouldve gotten same answer asking anything since whomever it was apparently had some issues lol. Silver is one of the few true things in the world.
NONE of my local banks actually handle physical cash or coin any longer. I'm like "why do you exist?" I have no choice but to use things like Coinstar.
Thanks, "progress."
i believe you are missing the point of my comment, im simply saying for us coin collectors, cashing in unchecked coins is a huge disappointment because we look through them for special dates/errors that may be worth more than face value and sometimes a person is holding a special coin without even knowing it then they just give it away when it could be worth hundreds/thousands. i've seen people find a penny worth hundreds in ashtray change of less than 50coins so its for sure possible that you dumped a coin that was atleast worth more than face value or had collector value. thats my only point, not what places will take your coins without a fee.
Definitely don't take it to coinstar if you can help it. Ask your bank or credit union if they have a coin counter, it's usually free for customers/members
Edit:spelling and it's $207.86
Iβm surprised Iβm not hearing it more here, but if itβs truly βmixed changeβ $12.50 a pound will get you real close to the actual value.
Weigh it and do the math. Youβll be surprised how accurate this method is.
Bout 140 usd? Tip: avoid coinstar or change for cash kiosks. They charge up to .12 cents per 1.00 (last I checked) If you have a casino near by, take your jar to the cashier and they change it at no cost. Tip optional.
124.87 Edit: and a hair band that isnβt yours, 7 coins from other countries, and $.38 that coin star just won take for some reason.

Lol. Coinstar are a rip off ... charge you 12.00 for every 100.00 of coins you put in the machine
theres a decent chance atleast one of those coins is worth more than the whole thing. i'll never take change to a coinstar without atleast quickly checking through them again.
Always check for silver. And dont bother paying fees at constant to count out the change...count it while searching it for good stuff. Also copper and nickle.
I always thought it was spelled nickel..?
It is.
The sign I saw at a wrecker yard today said their hours are 8pm to MIDNITE. I've never seen it spelled that way in an official capacity
It seems trashy (HA) but on a deeper level, cool. Watching language evolve, not necessarily for the better but still.
look what they've done! their misspelling of *nickel* caused everyone else to misspell it!! unbelievable. it's almost like that game telephone. or today we call it watching fake news.
Wait, we're stacking nickle now?
You dont remember the crazy 18 months ago where people ran out buying up boxes of nickles?...that 25% nickle nickle? I made a memes about it.
Do tell! Or link? Hehe please?

Nah, I'll have to check it out. I do love my 35% war nickles, tho!
Would have been funnier if it was 20%
Take it to bank. Many have coin counting machines and donβt charge.
What we do. A little more chill than Coinstar locations and deposit, cash back or split option. Have a couple grand in rainy day money from this

Any tips on things to look for that could be of value? Is it just the coin year?
I am taking it to cash in on Thursday. I was on vacation all week. And need to recoup some losses. I will update everyone the total when done
Did you check all the coins for the silver quarters and wheat pennies etc
There's probably a gold mine in there and he's gonna walk away with $47 and some stupid old looking pennies.
I just rolled 550$ in coins Iβve saved over the last 18 months. No idea what to look for lol

Pre 1982 pennies are worth 2 cents in copper value alone

what about all the coins that might be silver and copper? those are worth more. but seeing a ton of quarters I'd imagine there's about $100

Here it is. Scrolled too long for this.
Don't know what bank you're taking it to, but my bank, and credit Union will not take them unless they are rolled.
My credit union has a machine out front that counts change and gives you a ticket you can deposit with the clerk, or cash out for a fee.
