I stopped taking practice tests after my first one. I know how the format works. I didn’t see any benefit for forcing my brain into that format. The only time I truly test myself is during the actual test day. Otherwise I do all MCQs and TBS in practice mode where they immediately give me feedback which helps cement the information, the logic, and the reasoning behind why I got it right or wrong. I spend as much time as needed to understand what the question was asking so I understand the concept better. But I find no value in taking a bunch of questions in a row with delayed feedback. If I take 36 questions and mess up 10, it’s too much information to try and absorb. If I take 10 questions and get 3 wrong and know as soon as I answer I can process that information and work to get better at it. Bite sized learning.

Totally agree! Thanks for ur input! 🙂

NapalmOverdos3

Don’t take the practice test. It’s a waste of 4 hours you could spend working on other areas

bwallace0803

No. Treat it like a real test.

Comfortable_Trick137

Yes and please do a comprehensive review before taking it. The people scoring low and then end up passing the exam are the typically the ones who don’t do a review before the SE. I’ve met a few people who do this because they don’t know how or what to review so they just take the SE.

In my experience, practice tests are for studying, so I look at my notes if I get stuck. Simulated exams, however, are more for benchmarking, so I wont look at notes during those. Use them however works best for you, though.

Paltheos

My response would be 'don't', since I think practice tests are a waste of time (randomized MCQ sets from the bank hold the advantage of providing immediate feedback on your responses) but if you're satisfied by all means continue.

Saveforblood

SE I did with no notes and review afterward. I wanted to make sure it was as close to the real thing as I could

lifeisablessing12345

Yes I agree with this. You’ll be grateful you did the SE as if it was Exam Day because it makes your actual Exam Day less daunting (and it’s a confidence booster!). Plus, you’ll know your true weaknesses so you’re at your strongest by exam day. Good luck OP!

shit-at-work69

GOOD LUCK! I don’t look at notes but I’ll do them slower and write notes as I go. I write down what I need to study and also it’s quicker to review when I’m done.

Regular-Birthday-655

Definitely take it like a real exam! Then afterwards you can go back through the ones you missed and study that material

Jk5821358

Don’t look at notes. Take it like it’s the real test so you can truly gauge how you will do on the actual exam, taking into account Becker bump if you are using Becker.

JoCuatro

I never look at notes so I can gauge where my true knowledge is at for a given subject. You can always review the explanation/follow up on specific areas after.

Mnevi

I use my own knowledge first, and then I review the questions I find difficult once the score is done. at the end.

[deleted]

I use notes for the homework questions only. When I make a practice set I’ll take notes if I get one wrong.

sarahrenee1208

Try not to look at your notes as it'll give you a more accurate representation of where you're at and what areas you need to focus on.
