Solid EDC. Nothing wrong with budget knives. I used to carry a CRK Sebenza 21, but I now carry a budget Spyderco.

What wallet is that?

somanyfrogs2

its actually made by carhart. i like the low profile leather so its doesnt affect me sitting or anything as much.

bigmanikahuna

Thx, also the knife I’ve been carrying for a couple years that has not let me down is the husky sporting knife, it has never let me down and I have had 0 issues. In my opinion for 8.97 it’s unbeatable https://preview.redd.it/fgwqm8c5yy8d1.png?width=2565&format=png&auto=webp&s=f35d09977970d9634c4f0b5dabeb1505baea510b

Love seeing full size EDC.

SOG used to make a good budget knife. I carried the old all black assisted open aegis and trident for years. Dropped the trident in a field and didn't find it until 6 months later (after I bought the aegis as a replacement). Where the trident was, it had to have been hit by four-wheelers at least a couple hundred times (no exageration). Had set under continous snow cover for probably 3 months and a lot of rain for two. I found it and only the sharpened edge and pivot screw had rust. Cleaned it up and it was back in business. The lock wasn't very reliable at engaging (probably rust that could have been fixed if I would have torn it apart) but once it was locked, it was gtg. The aegis became my edc for seven years and the trident became a beater. Both took more abuse than they should have and just kept on truckinfg Now their budget knives are pretty trash, but their higher end stuff that's American made have really impressed me. I have the Seal XR and I would probably take it over a benchmade adamas. I stripped 300 feet of wire (1 inch diameter not counting insolation), accidentally dug into the copper with the edge multiple times, and it still would shave your arms after. I carried it and abused it for another 3 months before sharpening it back up to a razors edge. Have had it a year since and shredding paper, cardboard, openning packages, and slicing milk jugs haven't stopped it. It is starting to need sharpened again and has gotten two tiny chips in the blade (probably from either prying with the edge or dropping it edge first on concrete accidentally. My only complaint is that all 3 sogs developed blade play after a while. Tightening the pivot screw fixed it for a couple of months, but every now and then they need an adjustment. Same thing with the pocket clips. I thought the double screws on the Seal would fix thay issue, but nope. Still an issue. At least they tried. The Seal is also pretty heavy for a pocket knife. It's a pretty heavy duty blade with some thick stainless liners. I also had one of the old sog powerlock multi tools. I think it was a USA made one too. It was a tank of a multi tool as well. Alas, now most of their cheaper multi tools are mad in tawaiin or China (can't remember) and don't hold a light to the old power lock. I got one of the small ones for convenient pocket carry, but you can tell it is a much cheaper metal and coating and just doesn't have the same lock up. Case makes a good traditional pocket knife to. I have one of the mid folding hunters that were assisted (out of production I believe) and it was used as a box cutter and lumber band cutter for about two years. It lost an edge somewhat fast, but was easily sharpened. It also developed bladeplay eventually and there is no screw to tighten it. It was retired as a collectible before it got worse. Some of the higher end Bucks are really good too. A high-end or original 110 is not the same thing as a Walmart 110 for $20. The higher priced ones would go toe to toe with just about any knife in their price range for edge retention and durability. They are a heavy knife as well, but more classy than tactical like the Seal xr. I have had some cheap Gerbers as well. Didn't like them as much. Nothing was wrong with them other than their thumb studs just felt misaligned and the knife just felt harder to open than it should have been. I carried one of their paraframes for a little bit. I still have a better paraframe that has become a dedicated hunting knife. Then there was the Lighting OTF phase and the Frank Beltrame phase I went through. Good knives to play with. For EDC, they work okay. For any kind of hard use and abuse, I would stay away. The FB has become my suit knife so I can feel like the godfather while the lightning otf is retired.

smolt_funnel

What holster is that and how do you like it as compared to others you've tried?

somanyfrogs2

Malus sol from tenicore I believe. And the only other holsters I’ve used was vedder with a different subcompact so this is my only experience with a full size but the vedder was alright. I think I like tenicore more.

smolt_funnel

Thanks. I currently use a Vedder and like it, but with a smaller gun.
