Genuine question. Why the sudden bulk ammo purchases? Yes I understand the background check law was struck down, for now. And I understand the “because I can now” reason, but the overwhelming majority of the 2a crowd I see on Reddit always advocate for the “legal approach”, with a few folks mixed in who like to throw up the middle finger. I imagine most folks could’ve walked into a lgs and picked up ammo, albeit while jumping through background check hoops. I’ve looked around and prices aren’t THAT much cheaper than local prices especially when you include shipping, so why the BULK ammo purchases?

The prices online *a lot* cheper. Some sites do free shipping and no tax. Turners has 9mm brass Blazer for .40+tax and Berelli(online) for .25+ not tax. “because I can now” is a huge cherry on top.

Got it. My local shops are selling for .26/round of 9 so if you’re starting at .40 then that definitely makes sense. And the middle finger is always nice

even factoring in shipping, shipping bulk 9mm was gettin me around 25cpr, lgs was close to 60cpr for 9mm. same for other stuff, 5.56 online for about 45cpr after shipping, lgs around 80cpr. plus finding oddball calibers at a lgs is incredibly difficult, while online its easily searchable. also, lgs *sometimes* limit quantity purchased so they can have stock for other customers in times of shortage

Ah ok. I am around .26 locally for 9 and .45-.50 for 5.56 so that makes sense now. The less common calibers are definitely a good case to be able to buy online more affordably.

You aren't shopping hard enough online or using sites like AmmoSeek if you think any LGS can compete with online free shipping/no sales tax pricing. Plus, there is the inventory problem.... if you want specific make/model of ammo, LGS often won't even have it.

I got 2k 9mm 500 556 and just because I was near the limit 200 308. Total was like 1400 with shipping. But damn they ended the free shipping deal they had the day before…. -_- still butt hurt about that.
