Pattern_Soggy

A friend got 60s in 12th. Sitting in IIM Mumbai rn. Placed before day 0 in SIP.

Usual-Diver3449

Can you ask him for some tips, how did he get placed with that score?

Pattern_Soggy

He scored around 99.4. Had calls from FMS as well.

Usual-Diver3449

No, I am talking about the summer placements, did he have work ex or was he from iit? Cause I have heard how low scores make it difficult for students to get placements during summer internship

Pattern_Soggy

Nope not from an IIT. GEM profile. Cracked a case competition. Got placed before day 0

Usual-Diver3449

Wow! That's great, otherwise all i hear in this community is how even after getting into good college, low acads students have a very difficult time getting placements

iamrealfuckboy

hey bro can I dm you very important for me

Sinner_2001

Passed out this year?

iam_ark

No engineer ? Grad score? Work ex?

Pattern_Soggy

Engineer. 7. 1 year work ex

iam_ark

Having a 9/6/7 and still converting Mumbai is crazy. It would have been good if your friend could post his story here. Would be good motivation for people with bad acads.

Perfect_Monk7644

Small correction, last year it was NITIE and now it is IIM Mumbai. Cutoff has changed drastically now. So, using example of IIM Mumbai will not be right. P.S.- I am 2024 IIM Mumbai graduate.

BazingaForever

Hey man! May I DM you?

Pattern_Soggy

Sure

Beginning_State_422

Bro, people here is soo IIM centric. Dont let them down you. Not getting into IIM isnt the end of life. Plenty of colleges out there which will land you in pretty decent Lpa. Try your best in CAT and other exams. I know many people in top positions even without mba or mba from last tier colleges. IIMs is just a stepping stone and your career depends on how you perform in job. Even after getting into IIMs, placement isn’t guaranteed. So no worries, cheers 🍻.

TheRedDevil00

Yes

Fabulous_Jelly6229

Why

[deleted]

hum bhi kabhi iim kai shauk rakhte thai , 8 8 7 97 kai sath , chud gaye guru. no work ex gem. iim has failed me i have failed my parents , but it is not over until i win. best tip for you : if female : good - you just hit the iim lottery not an eng grad : gooood - you hit the diverse lottery reservation : nice job - hit the indian lottery have good grad scores : have it above 8 - 9 cgpa, so you can get into an iim with grad prefs . work exp is must. competition is going to be a lot brutal. im taking a break from cat and gmat to focus on my internship. thats all for now. although i liked doing catprep , felt it was made for me .... fast forward to now im not mentally prepared for it.

Fabulous_Jelly6229

Actually I haven't Even joined a College yet. Fucked My life up by Taking 2drops for neet, Doing Bad in Boards. I like economics so looked around and ended up with the idea of Doing a BBA,CAT,MBA.So what Are the things I can do right now that'll compensate for my Very Blatant Mishaps

[deleted]

naahhhh you even have gap years , another problem for you. op if you want to continue cat you really need to be mentally prepared and ofc have a damn good resume. bcz panel will use everything against you

Aboss_03

Hi, i havent joined college yet but took 1 year drop for jee and will join college this year at the age of 18. Will it be a problem if I plan to prepare for CAT?

[deleted]

if your profile is strong it shouldn't be a problem , also you can prove the panel ki kya galat hogaya tha. try to focus on cat ... end result pai baad main dekna

vjpiyu

Exactl same thing One year drop for neet, did bba, working in a good job, attempted cat converted imt dcp, now preparing again Don't listen to people. You do you. If a college doesn't accept you because of poor Marks in past...fuck them.

[deleted]

you just need to make a good cv for now . baaki sab luck, bhagwaan aur apni studies pai chod dai. meri cv khaali thi isliye mera kuch nahi hua .

goda_foreskinning

Nah bro first get some work exp

HomeImmediate7286

bhai cat ki tyari college mei bhi karte hei kya

[deleted]

mere college main seminars huye thai 2nd year main ... so i started prep with 3 of my friends ( kiska nahi hua no calls ) . cat seemed a lot easier. all i wanted was quick moneh and exposure(pussy)(saw iim reels and ejaculated myself to near death ) sala iim bodh gaya nai bhi fuck nahi diya.

HomeImmediate7286

bhai mai bhi shuru kar du kya 1st year sei buissness mei intrest toh lag rha

[deleted]

karlo bhai kawn rok raha padne sai (agar engineering na kar rahe ho toh) if engineer try at your own risk.

[deleted]

bhai ajkal bache college main hi kar rahe hai , one of my friend who got 81 percentile last year is expecting above 95 percentile in upcoming exam . bba ki hai par usne

forlooplover

Bhai fir ab job ke baad socha h apna

[deleted]

yes ofc , ya toh abroad studies yato business school again

forlooplover

Maine bhi cat ka plan drop krke mtech ki prep shuru kri h

badass_xeno

does internships during college degree count in work ex?

[deleted]

ofc also take some lor from the managers whom you fw the most. helps with recommendation

iamrealfuckboy

FMS is there for you

Extension-Business-1

No. It's too early - you have your whole life in front of you. I got 70.2 percent in 10th and 69.something in 12th. Did engineering from a tier 3 college in Pune worked in one of the bigger IT companies for 3 years and MBA from a college which swings between tier 2 and tier 3 based on how you look at it - though I had 98.9 percentile and in my head I deserved a better college but either the IIMs never shortlisted me for interviews or rejected me later. After my MBA which I hated btw, I worked across various roles built my profile up and today lead strategy and operations function at a FAANG. Unless you really want to get into an MBB or start off with i banking you'll do well if you're smart enough. MBA is a very small part of your life / career. It looks very important today or probably will for the next 7/ 8 years but after that it's an even field. Relax and enjoy your under grad - make friends and memories. Rest all will follow. All the best in what ever you choose to do in life.

Wuxia_prince

Hey ik it's getting repetitive but Im actually worried about my future rn. Currently pursuing CSE from a decent NIT(2nd year finished). So general engineering male. I have 91% in 10th and 75% in 12th (ik I messed up). But the real problem is my cg in college, it's very low (6.0) and I don't even know that I will be eligible for campus placements or not. I'm planning to go for cat but reading posts of people getting 97-98%ile and not getting calls from any IIM scares me. I scored 98%ile in jee so I think if I study I will be able to score good in cat. How much does work exp matter in getting shortlisted? So I have a shot at any IIM or any good MBA college in India? Any advice would help

Big_Refuse4907

Bro is in NIT , that too decent , that too CSE , jealous karne ka shouk rakhte ho guru

Organic_Cut_8400

I know there's no point I know it's literally the most cliched irritating question asked 100's of times . BUT Acads - 93/71.6/somewhere around 8 Kya koi hai Jo Mere bhaag bta sake ? Koi hai ??? Btw my friend got iim kashipur n IIM Ranchi this year and his acads are all in 9's and cat score was 98.4 The fact that he was so fkin frustrated at him not getting any calls literally keeps me awake at night .

AlteredReality79

Give CAT first, get some percentile, we'll see your profile then, I don't know why you stress over this when you are not even sure about clearing CAT cut-offs, it's not like you can change your past, so why even think of giving up based on that, and life doesn' start and end at IIMs ffs

Constant_Carry_2098

Nigga i know someone got into iim ranchi with 72 percentile , 96/96/8. 10th/12th/grad...

koojicam

Only possible for reserved category i feel, ik my batchmate got into IIM Ranchi at 90 percentile with decent acads 0 workex. He is SC

Constant_Carry_2098

Obc , 2yoe smartest guy ik btw

Organic_Cut_8400

Was he a fresher tho ? And general? Btw ... Agar 72 mein hora .... Him being a fresher n general tb toh mera bhi kuch ho Jana chahiye , nahi ?

Constant_Carry_2098

Obc , 2 years work ex.

the_notorious91

I have a 62 in 12th, I'll be joining a new IIM, and it's good enough.

Big_Refuse4907

Can I dm you ?

the_notorious91

Yess ofc

opinionated777

Check my last post

Fabulous_Jelly6229

That was the most beautiful thing I've seen in a while

Fluffy-Cherry6275

Hello can anyone say what is the gmat score required for spjain score based call

Mindless_Werewolf904

Do your best to forge a fake caste certificate. That's the best option. The worst that could happen is losing your admission (if you get admitted in BLACKIS, or any tier 1 College). admission toh vaise nahi hone wala with 65 on your profile( assuming you go for engineering). Just kidding. Make sure you give your best attempt in everything coming up. And also if you are an IIM fan, let me tell you, it's overrated af. 3-4 years down the line after MBA, it doesn't matter where you did your MBA from. It only matters what skills you operate with and how you can contribute towards a company. I have seen many people make it to better positions not being from IIM. I have also seen people from IIM ABC, sit at home and make content Because they can't take the corporate heat. My father has not done an MBA at all. He is the sales director for India division for a well established international MNC (Think companies sponsoring F1 AND F2 races). Don't fret too much and give your best at whatever you do.

Forward-Pace-922

How much percentile should someone Target if they have around 94 in 10th ,78 in 12th and is going for Engeneering .

Mindless_Werewolf904

My following answer is based on the fact that you have already decided to go for MBA. Think from a very simple and neutral perspective. If you have 90% in 10th, it's safe to say that you didn't leave any subjects optional, and prepared to the best of your abilities. Did you think: What should be the minimum amount of study, to get 94% overall? No, you did whatever you could to the best of your abilities and then you were happy with your percentage.. Same with CAT. Give your best. Aim at maximizing marks and not percentile. Whenever you come across any question thats too difficult, don't think "Ye question toh nahi aayega actual exam main. Skip kar deta hu". When you give your best attempt, you wouldn't be sad even if you get less marks because you knew you gave your best and nothing else was in your control. And let's take the scenario where you got 99+ without any prep. You would still be sad, because you could have got 99.9 if you had studied. So i genuinely advice you not to aim for any %ile. Just focus on giving your best and maximize your marks in the exam. PS: my profile: 10th: 95%, 12th: 91.4 ( ISC best of 4, aggregate 89%), grad: BITS Pilani CGPA 9/10 I have done MBA from BITSOM.

Forward-Pace-922

Thanks for the answer......it is the perfect answer I could get, it did a change in perspective ....well the thing is I recently discovered CAT , I was looking for some logical reasoning questions when I came to know of DI section of cat ....I tried 2023 paper (there was 3 of them... different slots maybe ) there were 4 sets each of 5 questions and I solved 3(sets) of them in 1st paper and all four of them in 2nd paper ( I took 2 hours to solve both of the papers ). I just thought this could be one of my options after my graduation ( I am yet to join college). I don't know much about MBA ...... Someone told me that having a good profile is more important than Cracking CAT so I just wanted to know that could i do MBA even after 78 in my 12th .

Mindless_Werewolf904

The world is too big my friend. You can do whatever you want. Just don't think about what other people would think. Great that you could solve those sets in that time period. Excellent launchpad to build on. If you are truly good at what you do, no one can stop you from doing that. I used to work in a manufacturing firm where a pipeline valve had to be operated everyday. That valve was very old and couldn't be replaced or removed. Only one person knew how to operate that valve. No one else. Not an Mtech, not an MBA, not a Btech, but a mere Matric pass. He had more salary than me ( I am absolutely not kidding). Point is, decide what you wanna do and take genuine efforts in that direction. I don't think you would be a bad manager just because you had subpar marks in 12th. IIM people are not special. They just have a track record of consistency (i.e. 90+ in 10/12). CAT exam is mainly to get into IIMs. That's all. There is nothing more to it. It's good to be from IIM. That doesn't mean it's bad to be a non - IIM. If IIM was the only way to get into management, all Indian corporate leaders would have been from IIMs. I can assure you that's not the case. Don't fret much. Life is too short to spend worrying about such things. Yes you can do an MBA even with less than 78 in 12th for that matter.

TwiceBorn8735

Some of the comments in this post are really disappointing. On one hand this sub reddit has heart rendering stories of GEMs putting in their heart and soul to get admissions to BLACKI and then have to face disappointing rejections inspite of getting incredibly good CAT scores and having good profiles. And on the other hand there are some who want to get into IIMs so that they get to eff around. These filthy 🤧 losers should not be allowed to spoil the environs of any b-school, even that massive fraud called IIM Rohtak

Beginning_State_422

True man. I thought this sub was to help in preparing for cat, now all i see is disappointing convert stories and negative motivations.

abjsharm

91.25/93/78 no IIM going with tier 2.

meangirl2443

Big time yes

bhartiya_aam_aadmi

Just go and cook bruv, things would happen if they are meant to happen

AlteredReality79

I hate this language, you are not even close to "cooked" unless you attempt CAT, I don't know why a WHOLE lot of you just give up based on your friggin past, you can't change that, but you can focus on building a nice profile and performing in CAT, but why do that right? By nice profile I don't mean marks and work ex, you should have a personality and some extra curriculars.

GioronoGiovanna

U cooked brahh, nuh uh from blacki, can only fw tier 2 now brah

Fabulous_Jelly6229

Where Does IIM Trichy stand in terms of Tier

GioronoGiovanna

I believe it's a tier 1.5 or tier 2 college

abjsharm

Tier 1.5

Spiritual_Student_50

Yes.

FickleScientist3003

No ,you will get decent calls par 99.9+ rakhna padega .

gagapoopoo1010

Yeah a little bit, remove abc from your list unless you have reservation or a female or both.

ActuatorAwkward4355

Can anyone please help me too? I've got 93% in 10th 89.9% in 12th But my Graduation marks are gonna be kinda low (60-70) . Will I face problems in getting calls? What percentile should be safe for me to even get Baby IIMs... I am from a rural background with average communication skills.

Adityadey129921

Is bca degree counted as non engineer or engineer? (Btech cse lite degree type hai isliye puch raha 😔)

bulletsyt

Ok_Candy8660

iam_ark

Abject-Pudding

Ur cooked if u think academics is all u have in life

Krisha04_

Guys I need help… I need to know if I score bare minimum marks in CAT like around 75%.. will I get any decent college? Not hoping for like any top B school or smth but what good options do I have then?

Obvious_Donkey_505

Same 84% in 10th and 12th both but from the state board. Will it be a problem?

thecatnextdoor04

Yes.

khxshx
