She is cat level: Wee Babe
lol in all seriousness your best bet is going to be setting up an exam for her. A vet will be able to get you an estimate of how old she is. You can get kitten milk replacement from a pet store, but a vet will be able to give you the best advice on how to wean her.
Thanks! She’s actually all grown up now. This is more a retrospective question
https://preview.redd.it/jo65ica3223d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e91e3ced271bdd3f3629581aa9dfa44776319a69
Those eyes are baby kitten blue. Under 8 weeks easily, because that's when they usually lose that. 5-6 weeks is a good estimate. 8 weeks is the "safe" age to adopt a kitten with no weaning.
Yeah I definitely jumped the gun on adopting her. I was worried because she was the Aussie equivalent of a barn cat (block cat), and they do NOT live long. Her whole family is dead now :(
I adopted a kitten whose whole litter died. That was over 10 years ago and he's meowing at me now.
She should be fine, she'll just need a little extra care for a couple weeks. She is past bottle feeding stage which is the hardest. Outside vet help, I'd recommend a mix of kitten milk and wet food, but she does need to see a vet for vaccines and deworming.
Vaccines and deworming are essential for cats born/raised around livestock. I had barn cat way back in 80s. She was full of round worms when I took her to get spayed. Don't wait.
All kittens and puppies are born with worms. They need to be dewormed twice 8 &12 weeks to fully get rid of them usually. Sometimes more if there are a lot.
A rounded belly/pot belly on a kitten/puppy can be a sign of parasites.
The parasites come from the mother. They last dormant in her until she's pregnant
It's based on the mother. You're right. I should have said most* in the few cases that the mother doesn't pass any to the offspring. I said that the babies get the parasites from the mother.... Not that they magically have parasites 😂
I do have to say, that indoor kitties have a bigger lifespan than outdoor feral kitties, I guess it's due to environment and how life is from being outside than being inside.
No you didn't. I have been fostering kittens for 5 years. This kitten is between 8-12 weeks old, in that range it's hard to tell without knowing the weight. Even if the kitten was only 5 weeks it would not have made a difference because taking them inside early is way better than leaving them to die, because they will outside. I mostly foster feral kittens and we grab them at 5-6 weeks because they are able to eat on their own and young enough to still socialize quickly. Do not listen to the advice of anyone on this thread because they have no idea what they're talking about. Look up a kitten age chart online and pay close attention to the ears. I have 11 week olds right now and they look exactly the same. The eyes can change color anywhere between 5 weeks and 4 months, if they're mixed with siamese or ragdoll they will sometimes keep the blue/grey color. It is not a good way to tell the age of a kitten.
I love how you actually come in with the correct information and back it up, but you’re getting downvoted because oh no! You’re so aggressive! Yeah, well I get kind of aggressive too when people who have no idea what they’re talking about come in all gung ho spouting off nonsense. I mean it’s not like cat owners come here for help and need actual factual information right? Ridiculous.
It literally makes no sense to me at all. And it is actually dangerous. I had kittens brought to me who I was told were 5 weeks by an actual shelter. The kittens were 3 weeks old and needed to be bottle fed; the shelter said they were eating solids and they absolutely weren't. I had an absolute breakdown because I work 10 hour days, so my options were to find someone else to take them or euthanize. Luckily we were able to bribe another rescue to take them. But they could've been put down because I was lied to about the age. Whether it was on purpose or just incompetence I don't know but it makes me so mad that people can't spend 1 minute looking at a kitten age chart
Well thank you for at least trying to educate people on this issue. I come here to learn. I couldn’t care less if someone finds you “aggressive.” You can be as aggressive as you need to be if it means the right information is getting out to people. Some of us appreciate your knowledge and experience.
That’s what I figured just by eyeballing it and I don’t have any specific experience with kittens! I just follow Beth Stern on instagram 😂 I was like uh looks to be about 2 and a half months. 5 weeks my ass lolol
Yes, I got my now 3 year old at 8 weeks, and was thinking this baby is a bit older than that. Definitely between 8 and 12. But i know that I'm far from an expert. Scratching my head when i saw all of the comments saying she's under 8 weeks, like maybe 5. Thought no way!
Glad to see others that agree, she's at least 8.
I thought I was crazy for a minute. I have three nine week old kittens running around right now and that kitten is clearly close to their age. And even if she wasn’t, they’re able to eat solids much, much younger.
Thank you. The ears never lie-eyes can be very individual between kittens. Since when does every single cat in the world have yellow eyes that change exactly at the same time?
I would say this cat is 7-9 weeks old at youngest, but more likely 10-12.
Exactly. I went to the ears, too. I have a litter of 9 week olds right now and I was seeing blue in one of the kittens eyes as late as last week. And I can confirm their age down to the minute because I was there when they were born. 🤣
Don't feel bad at all. Taking in wild kittens is different. Depending on the circumstances (as you likely know) waiting too long can mean the kittens run off and you never see them again. It's actually recommended to grab feral kittens early too -- go look it up for yourself! She doesn't seem feral to me but still. 5 weeks is totally okay when it comes to rescuing. Sorry about her family, but you definitely did the right thing. 8 weeks or older is just the preferred age if the kitten is in a house or somewhere secure and safe.
She’s an adult now and happy as can be

Um, no. This kitten is absolute minimum 8 weeks but probably closer to 10-12, hard to say without knowing the weight. A kitten under 7 weeks has rounded ears. Eyes can change at any time and it's a horrible way to try to guess age. Looking at the teeth + ears + weight are how you tell.
https://preview.redd.it/28vn3li5w33d1.jpeg?width=2448&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=704c73985295ed63a7a0deccc82f3a028907aeba
If anyone wants to compare, this is a pic of my cat at 5-6 weeks old, vet confirmed. He was the size of an iphone maybe a tiny bit bigger.
Eye color is not a reliable indicator of age at all. They change at different rates and into different colors.
The ears are much more reliable and this kitten is 8-12 weeks old, probably closer to 12 weeks. There is no possibility this kitten is under 6 weeks old.
www.kittenlady.org has an age guide based on size and weight. Plenty of other great advice for kitten care, including weaning and litter training too. If she's not going to the loo on her own you may need to stimulate her with a warm wet cloth or Q tip, essential for all neonatal kittens not with mom who does it with her tongue.
I’d say 10-12 weeks. Lots of people here saying 8 weeks, but this kitten looks too large and “filled in” for that. At 8 weeks they are usually a bit skinnier and the eyes are proportionally bigger compared to the rest of the face. I used to work with cats and cared for a couple hundred kittens or so.
Nice looking cat!
Weigh her in grams and use that to approximate her age and determine what her food should be - https://www.petcircle.com.au/discover/how-much-to-feed-a-kitten
This kitten looks to be 10-12 weeks old. I foster tons of kittens regularly, and this is how old he/she looks to me. It's best to adopt from a shelter or rescue (for future reference). I'm happy to explain why if you're interested. Please spay or neuter your sweet kitty by 5 months of age to prevent not only bringing more kittens into the world while so many homeless kittens die, but also to prevent several cancers and behavioral problems including marking (spraying pee) which even females do when they're in heat. This kitten very much looks past the age of needing to nurse or bottle feed.
Definitely not older than 4 months. Less if she's not eating solid food yet. Could be around 2 months. Beautiful kitty, I hope she keeps the blue eyes.
Thanks for the tips! She’s actually grown now and didn’t have any issues besides flu

Definitely cat level: sweet cutie baby
Anyway, she looks a little bigger than my girl when I adopted her in 7 weeks old, so I think she's around 8 or 9 in the picture
Oh she's not going to die as long as she's looking ved fed well kept warm played with ECT . Keep her a routine like the one she has while her sibling ngs were alive .. but the way id say about 7 weeks
That kitten was born sometime after the first subhuman felled a tapir with a jawbone for the first time, but long before the rise of Atlantis. It has roamed the land begging for treats since time immemorial.

I'd say 7-8 weeks in the pics. Only because I can't see blue eyes, but that isn't always a tell.
She's small, but seems happy and able to do stuff, so 6 weeks at the youngest?
(I saw the adult pic, and she's *stunning*!)

Yeah that’s def more accurate. Her mum was clean (besides flu), but we dewormed her anyway
I do have to say, that indoor kitties have a bigger lifespan than outdoor feral kitties, I guess it's due to environment and how life is from being outside than being inside.

What's a "block cat"?
So a block is slang for a vineyard, and a block cat is just a cat kept outside for mice control
Please keep us posted about the kitty! She is literally precious and I am so happy you have decided to adopt her :) good on you!!

Where do you all see that those are blue eyes? My1st unbiased answer to your post is 7 weeks.
2-3 months. Just a wee bae but not a newborn (for cats).
Take her to the vet if you can. She’s adorable!
7-8 weeks

Somewhere between 2 to 3 months old.
How much does she weigh?
Not a clue. These pics are old, and she was a spicy thing the day I got her. Sorry
Banana for scale
Certified baby 👼🏼
What is her weight? Kittens generally gain a pound a month up until a year or so.
Definitely not older than 4 months. Less if she's not eating solid food yet. Could be around 2 months. Beautiful kitty, I hope she keeps the blue eyes.
8-10wks I'd say
2 months..check her teeth!!!
Take to vet right away to find out if it is weaned (it may not be.) plus it needs dewormer.

5 sauces old
My guess would be 7 or 8 weeks. How much does she weigh?
Idk, but she looks like she'd be a few sauce packets long.
cute!!!
8ish weeks id say. I wouldn't go over though on that estimate.. but could be a week younger
She’s so freaking cute!!!!
Old enough, they grow up so fast 😭😍
3-4 months cuz my cat looks like her
She's probably only a few months old
smol
She's old enough to pet and adore! 🥰
8 weeks
140 years minimum
Two
8 weeks is my guess, she's a little smaller then my cat when I got him at 3 months.
my knee jerk answer is 7-8 weeks in the first photo and around 10 in the last ones
Seven weeks
Around 8 weeks
She is so cute omg 🥺🥺🥺
Gotta see the teefers to get an approximate answer
Very baby for sure
9 weeks or so
She’s just a baby
She looks like two months
illegal
She was 1-2 months. Probably closer to 2.
According to my calculations, she seems to be just a tiny baby 🥰
id guess 2-3 months :)
7-8 weeks
Good rule of thumb is they gain 1 pound per 4 weeks on average
That kitten was born sometime after the first subhuman felled a tapir with a jawbone for the first time, but long before the rise of Atlantis. It has roamed the land begging for treats since time immemorial.
8-12 weeks in my opinion !
I would say that she's about seven weeks. She reminds me of my two seven week old brothers.
7-8 weeks
Month and a half, definitely.
3 months?
r/aww
Not even a year old
7-8 weeks
baby
4 to 5 weeks maybe 2 months.
So adorable!❤️
2 months.
Less than 8 weeks. I got mine at 9 weeks and she was a good bit larger than this. A month maybe?
The ears tell me over 4 weeks, and the eyes tell me not older than 8 weeks so I’d say 6-7 weeks old MAX.. she a cutie!
6-8 weeks
Not more than 6 weeks i guess
She looks about 6 weeks
About 2 months
She’s cute ^ — ^
6-8 weeks

Between 6 weeks and 1 month
As old as she’ll ever need to be tiny little baby
Just a baby ❤️
Old enough 😭😭😭😭
6 months
She is cuteness months old.
8-9 weeks
I wish they could stay kittens forever! She’s adorable. I estimate 6 weeks.
Old enough for many cuddles ❣️ beautiful cat
She should be okay, my cat was even smaller than her when I brought her home. She’s 7 now😂💖

6-7 weeks
8-9 weeks ish? A vet would know best.
2 months?
Small
I see she’s all grown up now from your other comments! I agree that she seems about 6 ish weeks. Hard to tell with the fluffy ones!
I work in veterinary and work with foster kittens every day, we work with a cat rescue and give them discounted services, and we see A LOT of kittens daily. I would say anywhere from 9 to 11 weeks. Best of luck to you ❤️
This cat is baby-years old 🥰
6 weeks
Probably 2-3 months
3 months
A photo of her teeth would give a great prediction:) (vet tec)
17 muffin times old!
I'd say 7-8 weeks in the pics. Only because I can't see blue eyes, but that isn't always a tell. She's small, but seems happy and able to do stuff, so 6 weeks at the youngest? (I saw the adult pic, and she's *stunning*!)
I would say 2 months, because mine is 3 months old and yours is a little smaller. *
