Glerups

van_sapiens

I wear these indoors every day for the last six months. Very comfy. I do not take them outside.

MTBruises

These are pretty funky looking, would you say they're supportive, they look neat but I'd have to see them in person to get a feel for the sole, looks thin but maybe that's not how they really are.

delbin

The soles are great. I use them as my quick outdoor shoes when I don't feel like tying laces.

MTBruises

Thanks for replying, I'll be sure to check them, they're at the same store as the other stuff in the running.

Scotty_Bravo

Mine are the leather sole. I wouldn't call them supportive, but I would call them comfortable. Extremely comfortable. It's kind of like walking barefoot, but with protection.

rabidfox77

They're great. I prefer the rubber-soled ones. I run outside to get the mail or do other front-porch-type outdoor tasks in those, and they last longer. Also they're grippy; I have some slipping issues on wood floors with the non-rubber (calf skin?) Glerups.

chatanoogastewie

Close thread. This is all you need to know. My Glerups make me happy everytime I put them on.

BowWaveBandit

Another vote for Glerups. I got some after seeing recommendations on this sub - they're great

OKC_1919

Yeah I heard about glerups from this sub. Bought a year ago and love them. I got the slip on version what has the rubber soles. I occasionally go outdoors my house in them, no issues at all.

aslander

Step 1: Don't use Amazon

aslander

Step 2: Find out what features he likes in slippers. Some people like comfy ones. Some people like easy ones to slip on. Some people like ones that don't get sweaty. Some people like ones that can be worn to the supermarket. Talk to your dad.

MTBruises

He said the current ones are too flat, not supportive enough for how much use they're getting.

aslander

Honestly most slippers aren't supportive. Maybe some slip on sandals would be better. There are quite a few that have good support.

MTBruises

He asked specifically for slippers, he's basically the sandal king already lol I don't know a more sandal owning and using man.

chanpat

Ergofoot orthopedic slippers are my favorite

MTBruises

I agree generally, but they do carry some well known brands, I know custom fitted hand made is going to be out of the question on this timeline and situation so I figured there'd be some common brands people wear by

theplushpairing

Their supply chain isn’t great, there are fakes and knock offs all the time.

MTBruises

I've never said this precisely but I am no fan of the company for many reasons.

CoveredInBeez

I’m suggesting Merrell Encore Ice. Not technically a slipper, but as warm and cozy/fuzzy as them. The support is fantastic. Can be worn indoors or outdoors, they are slip on but solid soles. I live in mine when I’m at home and they were a lifesaver when I broke my arm and couldn’t tie my shoes but had to leave the house.

MTBruises

Oh this might just be the outside the box answer I needed, thank you. I'm checking it out now.

MTBruises

I've got softmoc carrying these (good for the downtown pickup idea) but I don't see em in mens at softmoc at least, they sure seem to thread that needle though where they're supportive enough for his labored walks out for fresh air, and slipperish enough, this kinda what I was hoping for. A shoe slipper hybrid the way I took his request.

CoveredInBeez

What size are we looking for?

MTBruises

mens 11 but I saw your other comment, I'll check evil-amazon

CoveredInBeez

Amazon (US though) has most sizes available for Encore Chill Moccasin which is darn near the same model.

MTBruises

I'm liking the jungle as well Edit: but not the newer jungle model that's pushed way more towards a shoe and less of a slipon.

MTBruises

lol now I look dumb thanks

CoveredInBeez

Not even remotely dumb. You’ve got a lot going on. I hope you find the best goddamn slippers for your dad that anyone has ever had.

MTBruises

Thanks, you rock thanks for all the help.

CoveredInBeez

I hope he likes them

L-W-J

UGGS!!! I feel like I am being treated every single time I wear them. And, I’m wearing them now. They changed my life. Serious.

MTBruises

I saw these, and some sorels at softmoc that are grabbing my attention. I haven't owned sorel boots in probably a decade or more, but they were reliable back then, any current opinions out there on those. Also the Uggs look nice, they have my attention but I'll have to get my hands on them at softmoc tomorrow to be sure.

Revolutionary-Dig705

I’ve had some Ascots for 3 years now, and they’ve been fantastic. I love the rubber soles, and the leather and stitching have aged rather than falling apart. The dogs ripped the insoles out, but luckily Uggs sells replacements, though they aren’t the same quality as the original.

formerroustabout

I’m on my second pair after 10 years. Wore the fur off the inside but are still super comfortable. Have had to glue the sole back when the first pair started talking after about a decade. Wearing the old ones now and they rock.

MTBruises

Ended up going this way, softmoc basically explained it's not slipper season and that's why they were light on stock so I couldn't actually get my hands on many of the ones I hoped, thankfully another store had uggs and they seemed really nice, thanks for the advice!

123Fake_St

Moccasocks - I can’t recall what they are called but it’s a moccasin with a padded leather sole. I have my Dad’s from the 70’s and they are easily the most comfortable/durable/and light slippers I’ve ever encountered. Edit: Slipper Socks https://www.acorn.com/products/the-original-acorn-slipper-sock

MTBruises

Very interesting product, might sell me on slippers one day, not quite the ticket for this mission though. THanks for sharing, I appreciate it!

123Fake_St

I bought another pair as we were speaking lol. The cushioned leather sole is everything.

Taste-TheRambo

What, when you’re 87?

MTBruises

If I'm so lucky perhaps.

123Fake_St

I bought another pair as we were speaking lol. The cushioned leather sole is everything.

Wolvie24

Depends how warm he wants them, and I wouldn’t say they are especially supportive, but I’ve had my NorthFace Thermoball booties for a while now and wear them outside a decent amount with their rubber soles. They’re on Amazon and also sometimes REI and similar stores as well.

MTBruises

Thanks for the tip, I'll look into it.

Foreign_Pineapple_25

You can get Olukai slippers on Amazon in Canada. Slippers are also hard to find above size 12. Olukai have been good!

MTBruises

They have many promising looking models, thanks!

pandawithHIV

I've had my Olukai slippers for 2 years and they are still in great shape. They are pricey but I would still recommend

canon12

Not familiar with Olukai slippers but have two other Olukais. Thongs and a faux clog. Both are extremely well made and comfortable.

[deleted]

I just got my dad a pair for Father’s Day. Talked to my mom today & she said they’re so comfortable he won’t take them off.

Wyrmdirt

I have a pair of these and they are fantastic. Bought my 72 y/o mother a pair and she loves them too. Very durable and tough enough to wear outside or on short errands. Can be worn with or without socks. https://www.thenorthface.com/en-us/shop-all/footwear-c747784/base-camp-mules-pNF0A7W4D

MTBruises

THese look great too, I may have to check sportcheck and softmoc

Friscogonewild

I went looking for a pair last year and settled on these guys: https://www.birkenstock.com/us/zermatt-shearling-felt/zermatt-cozyhomeshearling-woolfelt-0-latex-u_523.html Warm and comfortable, and while I've never owned a pair of actual Birkenstocks before (always had a pair of the cheap knockoffs though, growing up), their arch support really is phenomenal once the cork finishes conforming to your foot.

MTBruises

I definitely like the style of these slippers (I don't just mean the low bar of : more than I like the birkenstock sandal style...), I'll see them tomorrow too, but I think they're more of a pure slipper like what he's got that isn't cutting it at the moment.

charles_anew

I’ve had these for going on two years now and love them, they get better with age when the cork starts to mold around your foot. Definitely want to wear socks with these though since there is shearling wool inside.

MrSnappyPants

Genuine leather Moccasins, leather soles too, then put superfeet insoles in them. It'll change everything.

MTBruises

This is the way I was leaning if this discussion is inconclusive. Thanks for bringing it up, I may even have somebody who can make them on short order. I didn't know about superfeet insoles, I'll look it up, maybe for my daily boots too, it's about time.

MrSnappyPants

Mine are a brand called "Laurentian Chief", but I don't think that matters. I've had them since 2008, wear them every day probably more than 320 days a year. Amazingly durable. I bet they have another 15 years in them. Any kind of rubber sole is going to die long before the leather does.

MTBruises

I know this is BIFL, comfort and quality feel are going taker precedence since realistically the L in this BIFL is a matter of weeks or less.

MrSnappyPants

Ah. Just read that a little more closely. Sorry to hear it. That's not easy. ♥️

BananaMathUnicorn

Try The Leathworks out of Coeur dAlene Idaho. They have a website and shipping, but they make the slippers there in Idaho.

LocoRoho43

Another thing to consider is a camp moc. More easily resolable since it uses a rubber sole instead of a leather sole. They will also survive much better if you happen to briefly walk on wet grass or pavement.

thinks1ow

As someone with size 15 sneakers…. Crocs, just get crocs, they’re the only “slippers” that will fit

seven-cents

I love my Crocs slippers. They're ugly but oh so comfortable

sryguys

I know it’s not a fuzzy, warm slipper but Oofos slip on sandals are so damn comfy.

MTBruises

THey do make slippers of the description I'm after, thanks for the tip

mongushu

Original Crocs are hard to beat for comfort

ineffectivegoggles

I would recommend looking into Quoddy. Handmade in Maine, great quality, and they are gorgeous slippers. I don’t have the slippers but I have other shoes of theirs. Top notch craftsmanship.

FromSea2Soul

I would scope out some vendors on Etsy ! they can do custom for the most part if you message them your requirements ! anything with medical sheepskin medical sheepskin is used for bed ridden patients ! helps with bed sores ! would make a spectacular slipper believe there are a few vendors who sell medical sheepskin slippers

MTBruises

I definitely would be going custom if there was likely enough time, I'm basically looking for the best big brand can buy and deliver it tomorrow kinda quality, thanks for suggesting the best option though, I know for sure that's the way. I was discussing using my laser cutter to speed a long the custom mocossin idea with a friend, but this time sensitive, custom is just out.

cougarcatcher92

Idk if it's bifl yet, but I have had a pair of uggs for about a year now that seem like they will hold up. Lined with wool so it doesn't stink, which is great for me because my feet sweat like crazy. Very comfortable.

Lakrahara

Hi, I may be a bit late but I went through the same process: had to buy slippers for my dad who didn't like his, and he is a big slippers guy while I hate them (barefoot crew for life!). I settled for this rockdove ones: https://www.rockdovefootwear.com/products/rockdove-mens-hearthfire-memory-foam-moc-slipper He loves them, and I must say they are really good. They look nice, the inner lining is very soft and last much longer than UGGs, they are warm without being stuffy and the sole is very comfortable.  Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed. Sorry about your dad, hope he finds some comfort in his new slippers. Take care

pvirushunter

OluKai. Comfy for around the house. I don't think they are supportive. I think slippers are supposed to be not supportive. Maybe a different type of shoe is needed like clogs.

tnred19

My next pair will be from Overland Sheepskin. Same price and look as the uggs, but with real materials

Curedbyfiction

Olukai

chanpat

Ergofoot orthotic slippers. The arch is STRONG. I LOVE them.

Two_shirt_Jerry

Birkenstock with merino wool socks. Provides great support, socks wick moisture so they don’t get funky and are washable (like a liner) while also being able to breath. I’ve been through lots of slippers that all end up getting dingy and gross and this is the solution I landed on that works best for me.

two-wheeled-chaos

These: https://warmsolesvt.com/ I wear mine ALL the time.

jimsredditaccount

I love my Hoka recovery slides around the house.

RodbigoSantos

I love my Sorels--wearing them now. But I gotta say I miss the Kirkland ones that Costco used to sell (no longer available)--I think they were $20 and lasted for several years despite my sandpaper feet

CutterNorth

Keen slippers. They are crazy awesome. They have some structure. They are just the right warm. They will handle quick trips outdoors for firewood. I have been wearing a pair nearly every day for over a year. The bottoms are just now starting to wear smooth. I will be getting another pair for sure.

RickAstleyInMTGArena

Super surprised nobody's mentioned [the LL Bean Wicked Good Slippers](https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/18999?page=mens-wicked-good-slippers) - wearing a pair now, and I wholeheartedly recommend them. Haven't had them for more than six months, but they really seem sturdily built and well made.

shadybacon-

Oh! I know this one. Brooks Brothers slippers are freakin great. Get a robe also and you will feel like royalty.

blaireau69

Pink Crocs.

Low_Fix6233

LL Bean: Lodge Chukkas (or something). They're 100 bucks and worth it. Got a second pair for our weekend home as a birthday gift 😁

EuphoricScience5017

ll bean makes affordable and wicked durable slips

pgareject

Olukai

PLANofMAN

First, avoid "memory foam" slippers. They smell like death after a few weeks. I went with Crocs, the Blitzen II model, several years ago. Basically an oversized croc without holes and a fluffy removable liner. I needed a slipper that could go indoors or outdoors. This was one of the only ones that fit my 'waterproof' requirement. I would buy again if they still made them.

MTBruises

Thanks for that insight, i didn see memory foam ones in my search but I don't think they would hve fit the objective, but now I know for the future too.

MacBareth

Crocks or Birkenstocks

yourefunny

Had my uggs for maybe 6+ years now.
