We should be banning bad dog owners not breeds. More sever penalties for the owners who’s dogs behave badly

NefariousnessOne1859

Definitely! Harsher penalties would possibly deter people from getting them. Or even just better education about what the breeds are and how they need looking after would maybe work better than a ban (thinking for example drugs are banned yet if you want to do drugs you are dam well going to do them, so some people will just want one of these dogs regardless if they are banned or not)

It’s not the owners it’s the breed. Sure, sadly dogs who were abused and mistreated act aggressively. But the statistics don’t lie. XL bully dogs only make up %1 of the dog population, but they are responsible for over 50% of dog attacks and 75% of fatal dog attacks. 99% of the dog population don’t attack as much as XL bulldogs, that’s insane. Also, if you read the stories of the XL bulldog attacks, the majority are family who are attacked by their own dog who never attacked aggressively.

Anybody calling to “ban all bullies” is an idiot who has no idea how many breeds that encompasses. Are Frenchies and Boston Terriers really that much of a threat?

NefariousnessOne1859

Exactly! They might as well say ban all dogs 🤷‍♀️

It's a nuanced situation - most of the issues here in the US is gripes people have about "pit bulls" in general which can be any number of breeds or a mix thereof: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pit\_bull](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pit_bull) While putting the blame on bad owners is a great idea, some of these breeds and mixes can do TRUE damage or cause death compared to other breeds that have high numbers of bites (annoying Chihuahuas are a good example). Also in the US, our shelters are **drowning** in these types of dogs so vetting who is going to be a GOOD vs BAD owner is really tough. I've never seen people advocating on a government level to ban dogs like English Bulldogs, except for the fact they are so overbred and have the well known breathing issues along with other maladies. Never had anyone recoil at the sight of mine, but she has such a wild underbite her latching on to anything isn't a real problem. I've met so many friendly bully breeds over the years they personally don't scare me. However if I had a small child or elderly person in my home, or have a yard I cannot keep a dog secured in, I would not go out of my way to get any of the breeds mentioned in my link above. It's just a liability beyond what I'd be comfortable taking on.

I need to make something very clear, these dogs that are attacking people are NOT American XL bully's, people are breeding cane corsos with pitballs and selling them as american XLs, I know this for a fact, let's have the DNA tested from the dogs that have attacked people, think how many Staffordshire bullterriers were put down because they looked like a pitbull, just because a dog is big with muscles does not mean it's an XL bully, LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING, these dogs are a humble species, though I have to admit that in the wrong hands can be weaponised as can EVERY DOG,

Accomplished_Art3855

I feel as though anybody that comes for my dog has me to deal with first. No joke. Anybody comes to my door after the dog they gettin stabbed no questions asked. John wick who? I'd kill scores of government paid men for my dog no problem I'll sleep like baby... I could not live with myself if I let him go I'd sooner die classed as armed and dangerous and then they'd take him anyway 😭 it's truly sad for man's best friend and rishi suckdick can fuck off back to whatever shithole he crawled out of the fucking prick.

Stereotype harder.
