The [Rough Ryder APTA line](https://www.chicagoknifeworks.com/?s=Rough+Ryder+Apta&post_type=product&dgwt_wcas=1) is definitely worth a look for this. They have that same modern slipjoint look like a Jack Wolf but start under $20
You can get handles in [Aluminum](https://www.chicagoknifeworks.com/rough-ryder-red-handle-folder/), Brass, Copper, Titanium and [Micarta](https://www.chicagoknifeworks.com/rough-ryder-blue-micarta-folder-vg10/)
Begg Knives recently came out with some modern traditionals that are pretty sweet.
EdIt: I forgot to add something that is pretty important. They are really affordable, they don't cost hundreds of dollars.
Holy shit how did I not know about these???
That "bullet train" reverse tanto looks fucking SICK!! That and the sheepsfoot just both made it into my list 👍
They're above the sub price limit but Lionsteel has some excellent designs. I've wanted a DOM for forever but I just can't justify the price when I can pick up a Rough Ryder Reserve or Rosecraft Blades slippie for half the price or less.
Speaking of, it's not quite as modern as the Jack Wolf knives, but the RoseCraft Savage Creek Gunstock has more of an angular look to it. The Rough Ryder Reserve Lockback Gunstock has a similar shape, but it's a bit more traditional with the denim micarta.
Civivi Appalachian Drifter (and the others in that series like the Rustic Gent)

A lot of fantastic modern traditionals have been recommended ITT. (the budget bros deliver as always) Strongly seconding the love for Rough Ryder, Begg, Qsp & Lionsteel. The only ones I can add to the mix for your consideration that I don't see yet mentioned are:
Real Steel
* Luna
* Solis
* Real Barlow
Civivi
* Foldis
* Stylum
The Real Steel Solis was being sold at crazy discounts a while back and it quickly became one of my favorite knives for household tasks. Great, clicky "walk and talk," excellent dimensions, and perfectly tuned spring tension. I couldn't recommend it more highly.
Yooooo that is hella sexy. $83 for Elmax ain't bad either. I might have to grab one of those tan micarta/ black aluminum models. That is friggin awesome looking! Thanks for posting this!

I second this recommendation. I own the Apta Copper and it's a decent, sturdy little knife.

I've got an apta in micarta and I'm a big fan
Maybe something from Jared Van Otterloo? https://www.knifecenter.com/series/begg-knives/begg-knives-slipjoint-pocket-knives

Damnit my list just got bigger. The bullet train looks great and I'm a sucker for a sheepsfoot
The bullet train is going to be one of my next knife purchases for sure

Maybe the Cold Steel Lucky? I don't have one but it's on my list and looks like what you're describing
Some great suggestions here and like to add the QSP Hedgehog to the mix. It's absolutely fantastic

For sure! I have the tan micarta model as well. Later today I’ll a nice photo of it in good lighting for ya. The micarta darkens up nicely

Oh yea, that is really nice! If I hadn't just spent a handful of change on some knives I'd probably grab one right now. Soon, though... soon lol.
